What To Expect In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Jujutsu Kaisen Ending ~Every Anime Version~ Lost in Paradise

Based on what we saw at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, it is most likely that the second season will feature Gojos past arc and immediately move into the Shibuya Incident arc.

The latter arc is one of the most exciting, filled with great fighting sequences. In this arc, we will see Geto and Mahito attempt to seal Gojo Satoru.

My Personal Review Of Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Episode One: Ryomen Sukuna In Comparison To Its Manga Source Material

October 2nd, 2020 marked the beginning of Gege Akutamis hit manga, Jujutsu Kaisens ascension to television. Produced by Toho Productions and Animated by Studio MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen has already begun to stand out in the anime community. In a series of pieces I will highlight the differences displayed between Jujutsu Kaisens Manga and Anime mediums. Discussing what additions studio MAPPA may have added what they may have taken out, and how it influences the atmosphere of the story will be he main focal points for each review piece. My intention is to compare and contrast the two mediums pointing out the good and/or bad that comes with an anime adaptation.

In adapting Chapter One MAPPA brings life and a breath of fresh air to the introduction of Yujis character by adding anime only scenes with Yuji calling his Grandfather in the Hospital from Home. Here we get to see not only where Yuji lives, but also how he lived on his own while his Grandpa was hospitalized. Also we see Yujis Grandpa yell to the Nurses that he shouldnt come to visit him and that he should be focused on going to his club. This is obviously MAPPA adding more depth to Grandpa Itadoris last words to Yuji, expressing that he doesnt end up like him and die alone. This to me was the first indication that MAPPA has studied the source material beyond just adapting it panel for panel, but in a way that gives them full awareness of the emotional depth of the story.

Is Jujutsu Kaisen Finished

When Gege Akutami started writing Jujutsu Kaisen back in 2017, were not sure that he thought Jujutsu Kaisen would become such a phenomenon. The initial manga was later re-labeled as a prequel story titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0, with the main narrative beginning with the first chapter of 2018s Jujutsu Kaisen.

Since 2020, we have also had the pleasure of watching an anime adaptation of the manga. Now, is Jujutsu Kaisen finished, or will we see more of the manga and the anime?

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is still ongoing and it seems that the author plans on keeping it like that for a while, since the story doesnt really seem like its nearing its end. The anime is currently on a hiatus after the first season ended in March 2021 and with a prequel movie on the way , pending a very likely renewal.

The rest of this article will tell you all the remaining information you need and want to know, related to both the manga and the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen. Youre going to find out if either of them are really done and how close to ending they actually are.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Release Date

Now, as of November 2021, Jujutsu Kaisen has a total of 24 episodes released between October 3, 2020 and March 27, 2021 as part of the first season of the anime series, produced by MAPPA. The series initially aired in Japan before being made available in dubbed format thanks to Crunchyroll and some other streaming services in the West.

Jujutsu Kaisen was enormously popular and people actually loved the anime series, which is why it was somewhat strange that a second season was not announced as of yet, especially since the manga is still ongoing and there is material to adapt to.

Instead of a second season, though, we have gotten a movie announcement. Namely, MAPPA has announced that the prequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, would be getting an anime movie adaptation set for a December 24, 2021 release.

This isnt really a second season announcement, really, but it goes to show that MAPPA is invested in Jujutsu Kaisen and that it plans to adapt as much of the source material as possible. So, what does this tell us about the second season?

Knowing that the manga is still ongoing and that there is material for more episodes, and taking into account the popularity of the series, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen seems practically certain. Still, at this moment, we have no official news about the second season.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen About

Opening Jujutsu Kaisen

Written and drawn by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen is a shounen manga series that blends the established tropes of shounen manga with horror elements both physical and existential.

Set in a world identical to ours, with the exception of the series core concept of curses and cursed energy, Jujutsu Kaisen begins with protagonist Yuji Itadori .

Itadori is an ordinary high-schooler with a lot of heart, a lack of direction, and above average physical speed and strength. Little else separates him from his classmates.

But Itadori is also a member of his schools Occult Research Club, having joined because it allows him enough free time after school to visit his grandfather in hospital. His grandfathers dying words of advice Help people. It doesnt have to be everyone. Just whenever you can become Yujis code of ethics.

Itadoris connection to the Occult Research Club and his close relationship to death help to immediately establish the horror atmosphere of Jujutsu Kaisen, separating it from both its inspiration and its contemporaries .

In Chapter 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Itadori meets Megumi Fushiguro, who corners Itadori and asks him to hand over a talisman which the Occult Research Club stumbled upon. Fushiguro is a jujutsu sorcerer, and he explains to Itadori how curses, curse energy, and cursed objects work.

Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Compared To The Anime

The anime has been very faithful to the source material although action sequences tend to be extended with special directorial touches. In an interview with Anime News Network, director Seong Ho Park explained his approach to adapting the narrative structure of the manga series into a seasonal anime.

Our goal wasnt to reconstruct the manga version but to create the anime which follows the original storyline as precisely as possible, the director explained. Therefore, weve had lots of meetings to discuss details closely with Shueisha and Akutami-sensei.

The beginning itself heightened the drama by opening Episode 1 with a flash-forward to the first two pages of Chapter 2.

Otherwise, any changes are usually minor and emphasize a specific emotion elicited by a scene. For example, the scene where Yujis classmates hide from the curses is given more time to develop their fright.

The director said that such scenes were created with Akutami-senseis approval.

Episode 2 added a scene where Yuji visits his grandfathers grave, which was originally only chapter cover art.

The intensity of Episode 5 was heightened by making the scene where Sukuna pulls out Yujis heart more graphic. The visual of clock gears were used to highlight the unfairness of life in Megumis inner monologue.

The Episode 6 scene where the volcano-headed Gojo burns people to death in a restaurant emphasized the horror of the moment by focusing on the victims.

Fewer References In General

Honestly, there are a lot of little references to games, shows, and other media spread throughout Jujutsu Kaisen. Now, Mappa did keep a lot of these references in, but not all of them. One of the funniest ones once again happens in the first chapter/first episode. In it, Itadori is being introduced as the supernaturally strong boy that he is, and he’s up against the track-and-field coach in a competition with Yuji joining the team as the prize.

Among the whispers, the Occult Club president mentions that there’s a rumor Itadori is a previous winner of the iconic Ninja Warrior series. It was a hilarious reference, and it gave readers a reference point of how everyone else in the story saw Itadoris natural abilities. But, in the anime, this reference is nowhere to be found.

The First Episode Has A Different Beginning Than The First Chapter Of The Manga

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie – Official Anime Trailer

While much of the first episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga follows the first chapter of the manga pretty closely, it does have one major difference. The beginning of the episode actually shows the beginning of the second chapter of the manga. This serves a specific purpose in the series, since it begins the story in media res, allowing viewers to dive right into the middle of the story and a more exciting action sequence, as opposed to slowly learning about the world.

The Manga Precedes The Anime

The most obvious advantage of reading manga is that readers are up to date with the latest developments in the series. This has the obvious benefit of avoiding any spoilers that could completely spoil ones experience Jujutsu Kisen. Given how popular this series has been in recent times, these spoilers are hard to avoid now.

Therefore, anime viewers who cant wait for the next season or want to avoid getting spoiled should definitely start reading the manga sooner rather than later. The recent developments in the manga have been quite amazing and will surely be enjoyed by any fan of the series.

Why Should You Read Jujutsu Kaisen

If this summary of how Jujutsu Kaisen begins has you intrigued, youre probably now wondering if you should watch or read Jujutsu Kaisen.

As I said at the beginning, there are two types of people who want to read Jujutsu Kaisen: fans of the anime and newbies who havent watched or read Jujutsu Kaisen yet.

Combat Has Extra Moves & Added Flair

Jujutsu kaisen

Lets talk a bit more about the combat in the anime adaptation. The combat scenes, for the most part, are so incredibly well composited and animated. When people are fighting hand to hand, it looks like martial arts, and then when they use their curse techniques it gets a lot more supernatural.

The dynamic camera, the extra moves, the added flair, its all stuff that was added in the anime, and it all works so well. Sure, sometimes Mappa exaggerated the damage a character would do to another in comparison to the manga , but honestly, it’s worth it for how incredibly all these battles end up looking.

Also, given that the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen is receiving great reviews from fans, it is highly likely that the show will get the green light for another season. What Is The Plot Of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Season 1 of “Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji’s first encounter with Sukuna and how he gets wrapped up with the Jujutsu School and sorcerers. Throughout the first season, the story progresses through various battles against Curses as they search for the pieces of Sukuna. At the same time, Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara go through various personal challenges, such as disagreements with each other’s techniques and values, and the emotional impact killing Curses has on them. The first season ends with Yuji and Nobara defeating the Death Paintings, two human brothers who become Curses. Yuji also meets up with one of his old classmates, Yuko, who has a crush on him.

Looking at the events portrayed in the manga, it seems appropriate to assume that “Jujutsu Kaisen” Season 2 will cover the “Shibuya Incident” story arc. This follows the team of sorcerers, led by Yuji, as they battle a heavily-orchestrated effort by Curses and other evil forces to take down those that oppose them. The events feature plenty of intense fighting with dangerous ramifications for Yuji and the others, and there are a few major losses that occur. For fans of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” this will be a huge event with lasting effects on the series and its characters.

The Character Relationships Are Better Written In The Anime

Shonen stories, in both manga and anime, sometimes fail to fully flesh out the relationships between the characters and why theyre important. Jujutsu Kaisen in particular spends a little more time on this in the anime than in the manga, particularly regarding Yujis relationship with his grandfather. The series spends a little more time on the characters relationships, which also seems to give more weight to some of the other relationships Yuji has as well since his grandfather urges him to surround himself with others.
