Drawing The Mouth & Lips
Anime mouths are usually drawn without lips but you can add them if you want a more realistic looking mouth.
Position the mouth with the bottom lip halfway between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin.
Draw the mouth itself as a curve with a break in the middle where the lines curve slightly downwards. You can also draw it wider than more traditional anime mouths.

Shade The Hair And Add The Chin
Hair is typically shiny, so, therefore, shaded with high contrast. The shading can be the difference of making hair look Manga-tastic or taking you back to square one. It goes without saying, the better the pen and the stronger technique you have, the more likely it is that youre going to produce the best results. TIP: Use photographic reference for help on highlighting hair.
Draw lines that curve slightly inward down from the chin. These simple lines form your characters neck. Men usually have thicker necks than women, so bear that in mind. The age also determines the neck as in Manga, very old and very young males are drawn with skinny necks. You can shade the neck if you like but keep it simple and dont overdo it.

How To Draw Anime Characters Tutorial
Anime has a very distinguishable style. When drawing anime, there are a few rules to follow. Most importantly, the exaggerated features:
- Eyes. The eyes are always large and take up almost half of the characters face. Whats more, they usually contain black circles in the middle with coloured outside rings. The colours can also be exaggerated, some eyes, for example, can be purple.
- Hair. The anime hair is usually in a very strange, unnatural shape. The characters hairstyles are always exaggerated and, once again, the colours can vastly vary.
- Facial expressions. Facial expressions are conveyed in an interesting way. For example, teardrops in the eyes is a sign of embarrassment. Facial expressions are strongly exaggerated, making the characters very expressive.

Adding In Facial Features
Firstly, add the ears. From top to bottom they should go from the eye line to the nose line. Add in the nose, which can be of any shape but it must just touch the bottom of your horizontal nose line.;
NOTE: To help with how big to make the eyes, the eye guideline from ear to ear should be roughly five eyes wide. This means that your eyes should have an eyes length that separates them in the middle.
The eyebrows require simple curved lines above the eyes and the placement doesnt really matter too much, they just need to follow the placement of the eyes. You can experiment with different shapes and placement to portray various different emotions.
Lastly, draw the mouth line halfway between the bottom of the nose guideline and the bottom of the lip line.

Drawing hair is difficult. Here are some tips on drawing hair for your Anime girl face drawing:
- The first step is give yourself a break even if it does not come out great the first few times around. A lot can be learned from observing hair in real life. Learn from how the light hits the hair, and how the form is defined, not by individual strands, but by the masses of the hair and their interaction with light.
- Realize that although volume differs from haircut to haircut, all hair has some volume. This means that as hair sits on the scalp, it will produce some extra space that you have to draw. Given that we defined the head in the Loomis construction , it should be fairly easy to add some volume to that line of the skull, and make sure placement of the hair on the head looks realistic.
- When the face is turned in angles you are not familiar with, use reference to understand how hair will sit on the head.

Draw Final Lineart Over Your Sketch
In this final stage of our drawing, we will attempt to draw over our sketchy messy lines to complete our drawing of Anime girls face. Three things to focus on as you do this:
- This is the step where you must try to draw with swift, beautiful lines. To achieve this, try to put down confident pencil strokes that come from the shoulder and the elbow, and less so from the wrist.
- You must attempt to see not just the detail you are drawing but also the entire drawing of the face at once. Yes, focus on the detail, but try to draw it with the larger context of the face in mind.
- Finally, attempt to do away with sketchyness of the previous step. In certain areas of the drawing, you will have multiple sketchy lines, you will have to exercise your judgment to find the best path for the line and draw the new, fresh, crisp line only in that one path.
With the above three ideas in mind, lets begin to draw over our sketch.
