What Is The Order Of The Fate Anime Series

Route Three: The Machete Order

Fate Anime: Watch Order Explained | Razovy #shorts
  • Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works season one
  • Fate/Zero and 2nd Season
  • Unlimited Blade Works2nd Season
  • Fate/stay night I. presage flower , II. lost butterfly , III. spring song
  • I do understand why modern fans might choose to start their journey into the Fate series with Zero instead of stay night. After all, the latter looks bad, sounds even worse, and doesnt even function as a proper adaptation: advocating something like that sure is a surefire way to turn off people from watching the series before theyve even truly begun!

With this in mind, I propose this third, Machete order as a compromise. Just like the popular way to experience the original Star Wars saga , it combines the best of both new and old, while also delivering an interesting enough story despite the inherent setbacks.

We start with Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works season one. While the focus on Rin means that Sabers absence is still sorely felt, the nearly fifty-minute prologue does a good job of getting the first-time viewer up to speed where it counts. Theres also enough exposition and explanation in the series to make sure that basic things such as the Servant/Master system is properly explained.

Unfortunately, this guide hasnt discussed Heavens Feel that much, but thats because it is the most straightforward adaptation. There are some changes made here and there but it is faithful for the most part, meaning that it doesnt really require that much explanation.

    Anime Fate/extra Last Encore

Post the Chaldeas group era, yet another Holy Grail War threatens to take hold. This time, the scene is different a school seems like the likely location.

In all the chaos, all hope rests on Hakuno Kishinami and his Saber to save humanity. Hopefully, he will!

And finally, watch the rest of it in any order to fill in the remaining gaps. The use of alternate routes and changes in perspective in this huge labyrinth of Fate series may give you a Fate/ Stay Night character doing something in the spin-off series that you dont remember them doing in the first series you watched. But it is of no consequence after getting a grasp of how the world of Fate anime adaptation. Just keep an open mind as Fate keeps the possibility of new potential alternate universe entries that any anime studio would be glad to come up with their own anime television series or anime film adaptation.

Now the anime renditions of the Fate Series are not confusing anymore. Or is it? We hope this piece has been helpful!

    Why Is Fate Anime Confusing

Well, the reason for that is down to the outplay of this series. Unlike other animes that adopt the story of manga or light novels, the Fate series is an anime adaptation of a video game. The storyline is adaptations by anime studios of routs in the video game, so there is no original story. In visual novels, the character arcs, character development, and alternate story depend on which female character you choose near the start of the game.

For that reason, the plots here dont follow rigid scripts but alternative routes based on the choices of the action video game character. Each choice gives birth to an alternative route and parallel universes. The first accessible route is the Fate route, and the others are Ultimate Blade Works and Heavens Feel, to name a possible few. This presents an endless potential for alternate universe spin-off and storytelling.

In other words, there are chances that different series exist for specific characters moves. In particular, Fate anime has three unique storytelling approaches that branch out even further.

And for each approach and branch of the Fate series, there are different themes and development. That is why this anime can be confusing.

Despite all that, the storytelling and animation in Fate anime are incredible. More so, the series is not as confusing as you think. The plots generally share the same premise as follow:

With several storylines and a confusing chronology, this anime series may seem to beginners attempting to join the Fate world like a train disaster, yet this is exactly what has made it so successful and enjoyable in its own right.

Since its debut, there have been many adaptations, to the point that even the most devoted anime viewer may get confused and lose sight of the central storyline. As such, it is only reasonable to inquire about the proper sequence in which to watch it.

Below is the list of Fate anime series in Chronological Order:

    • Fate/Zero

    • Fate/Stay Night: Heavens Feel

Its basically a battle royal where 7 mages and 7 servants team up to fight to the death. The last one standing gets the holy grail, a magical item with the ability to grant any wish possible.

No matter what we say there is no denying that the Fate series is not only popular but also highly ranked, averaging around ~8 on MaL.

The Quest For The Holy Grail

According to Legends, the Holy Grail grants wishes. And to obtain such magical power, you must go through the epic battle royale: the Holy Grail War.

The said war typically involves the sacrifice of the 7. Seven magicians, servants, and groups will slay each other in a bloodbath.

The servants comprise an archer, assassin, berserker, caster, lancer, rider, and a saber. Together, they heed their masters call.

Another plot twist is that the servants are dead heroes who once fought in the Holy Grail War and fell. Now, they are back again at the beckoning of the conquest.

Full-on battle royale goodness! Sounds fun, eh? So how many of these exciting stories are even there in the Fate/Stay Night?

So In Which Order Should I Watch It

As for the chronological order of the works, it goes as follows: Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night ;and Fate/EXTRA. However, the settings are vaguely different.

If you are watching for the first time, here is my personal recommendation:First watch the TV anime Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Then watch Fate/Zero

After that it doesnt matter! Fate/Zero is set 10 years before Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works and is the opposite of the chronological order, but watching it this way makes it easier to understand the rules of the world.Fate/Grand Order -First Order- is more backtracking. It was broadcast as a special show in 2016 and only the prologue was adapted into an anime. The side story, Prisma Illya should be enjoyed as a completely different work. The pace and setting are completely different so I recommend that it be watched after Unlimited Blade Works and Zero. The same can be said for Todays Menu for the Emiya Family, although it can also be watched without any prior knowledge of the series.

The title list may seem complicated but if you start with Unlimited Blade Works, the worlds rules and what they are trying to depict are easier to understand.

Lets relax and enjoy the show!

In Which Order Should I Watch It

According to the chronological order, Fate/Zero and then Fate/Stay Night, Unlimited Blade works and finally Heavens Feel

Now, here is my personal recommendation

    • 1. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade works -anime
    • 2. Fate/Stay night Heavens feel -movie trilogy
    • 3. Fate/Zero
    • 4. Lord El-Melloi II Sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note
    • 5. Others
    • P.S: Studio Deens 2006 version of Fate/Stay Night is considered to be a terrible adaptation of the VN within the anime community as it skips most of the character development which makes the story feel half baked, it still has some portion of Fate route you missed. This comes before Unlimited Blade Works in the watching order, but I would recommend reading this route from the Visual Novel, but the choice is yours.

And then continue watching the rest as the order does not matter, as most of the spin offs are stand alone and self-contained and some of them like Todays Menu for Emiya Family dont even need prior knowledge of the series.

Fate is a long running franchise and has a huge fan base so it would be difficult up catch up on whats happening right now, so if you plan on starting the Fate franchise I would suggest you watch Unlimited Blade works or UBW for short before going further into the series. Let me know your thoughts down in the comment section, requests and suggestions are also welcomed.

The Best Order To Watch The Fate Series

FATE SERIES WATCH ORDER – How to get into Fate/

The story of the Holy Grail War is a must-see, but with so many anime renditions of the Fate universe, whats the best path to take?

The short answer: just watch it in release order! Start with the anime that came out first and gradually work to the most recent entry. While many may argue that certain versions are wastes of time or that its better to watch everything chronologically, heres my reasoning:

Fates story revolves around the Holy Grail War, an epic battle royale in which mages summon legendary figures from across history to fight for the wish-granting power of the Holy Grail itself.

However, Fate/Stay Night was originally a visual novel , so the plot itself depended on the love interest the player chose near the start of the game resulting in a unique sequence of events, called a route. Depending on your choice of Saber the noble servant, Rin the young mage girl, or Sakura the shy classmate, one of the three routes will transpire:

    1. Saber: the Fate route, the most accessible one, and the one the game will default you to playing first.

    2. Rin: the Unlimited Blade Works route, assumes youve already played Fate, with even more plot twists.

3.;;;;;; Sakura: the Heavens Feel route, the final route, and the darkest one.

    Studio DEEN Fate/Stay Night

Studio Ufotable Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

    So in summary:

  • Fate/Stay Night
  • Fate/Zero
  • Fate/Stay Night
  • Fate/Stay Night
