It is followed by the sequel story Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train released in October, 2020. This anime has not completed yet, but it is safe to say that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will grow to represent the best anime in Japan and around the world.

The ease with which computers could manipulate images even won over traditional-animation purist Miyazaki, who used CGI on 1997s Mononoke-Hime to animate demonic tendrils and a few other effects after his staff demonstrated how seamlessly they could blend the animation in.
The first completely computer animated anime, A.LI.CE., arrived in 1999. Being still relatively early CGI, it didnt look like anime, and by this point in time the anime look we associate with the genre was very clearly defined. As computer processing capacity increased and prices went down, studios replaced cels altogether with digital ink and paint. Though there were plenty of anime series created in the late 1960s and 1970s, few if any of them made it to North American shores. However, thanks to the immense popularity of Star Wars, television networks began to look for anything to carry on its science-fiction momentum. One of the first was an anime series that actually premiered in Japan in 1972.

That would be Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Fans of the series known its U.S. version as Battle of the Planets or simply G-Force. Released by Sandy Frank Productions in 1978, it starred a quintet of costumed young adults with enhanced abilities. They flew to their destinations in a craft known as the Phoenix. When needed, they could transform the craft into a fiery bird-like vehicle. For many, Battle of the Planets became their introduction to anime.
The Three Fathers Of Anime
Anime that are believed to be created even before this include Imokawa Mukuzo Genkanban no Maki .
It is assumed to have been released in April 1917 and was believed to be the oldest anime at the time it was discovered.
Dekobo Shingacho Meian no Shippai was later discovered and found to be even older, estimated to be released around February 1917.
Both of these films were directed by the first father of anime, Oten Shimokana, whos animation career sadly didnt go beyond 1917, despite living until 1973. Second father, Junichi Kouchi, manga artist, who holds the honor of creating the officially recognized first anime, Namakura Gatana, started creating political propaganda in 1924 and retired from animation in 1930s, lived until 1970.
Third father, of this generation probably had the most impact on the generation that followed him. Seitaro Kitoyama created many animated shorts, including Battle of a Monkey and a Crab, Yume no jidousha, Neko to Nezumi and Momotarou, most of which were based off of folklore. He went above and beyond by creating Japans, first animated documentary, commercials, , and founded his own studio.

An Earthquake Destroyed Most Of Japan’s Earliest Anime
Unfortunately, in 1923, the Great Kant earthquake hit Japan and destroyed much of its new animation industry. Many early anime films were lost, and the medium took a few paces back while the country rebuilt itself.
In 2017, the National Film Center at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo released a trove of rediscovered and restored historical anime in conjunction with the art form’s 100th anniversary.
