Alright! Let us get going with our manga tutorial! We will be doing a digital drawing of Shiro, the cat girl. Of course, we are not using paper, so the first thing we have to do is create a rough sketch of our manga drawing.
This sketch will allow for proper planning of proportions, getting a good perspective, and the achieving the right composition for your anime characters figure.
The head is the first part we will start with, and is probably the most important part of your anime figure! To begin, draw a basic circle with a chin attached to the lower part. This forms the shape of your characters head. By drawing your horizontal and vertical axes, you can easily determine which way your anime character is facing. All that this takes is two simple lines .
The next step is where you will decide the eyes position as well as the eyes angles. All you do is draw two simple circles above the horizontal axis. The eyes are always a big focal point in any anime character! Often, they are larger than they should be, particularly when drawing females. The small-sized mouth comes next, as well as a little nose. They are kept small to help the face appear to be more delicate. More often than not, the nose is merely indicated towards as opposed to appearing as a proper facial feature.

These are the default proportions that the characters in this tutorial will refer to. So when you read something like draw the eyebrows lower down or make the eyes narrower it will usually mean in relation to this example.
Please keep in mind that they are just a guideline for getting male anime style looking characters. As already mentioned there is a lot of variation in the anime/manga style so this drawing template may not always apply.

- Ears make another horizontal line between the first line and the bottom of the chin and draw the ears between these two lines

Lets See What Is Going On
Drawing cornrows and dreadlocks must be one of the parts of drawing faces and portraits that people avoid like the plague because they simply dont know how. Yet drawing cornrows and dreadlocks is really not that difficult. There are three steps that we need to follow when drawing cornrows.
Before we can start to draw the little boys hair we need to know what it looks like from up close.
As you can see the cornrows are nothing more than a series a plaits that form a pattern on the head. When hair is plaited we get three distinct areas that we need to draw. The first is the exposed scalp.
Because the head is round we need to continue the shading of the skin in these areas. We will then get highlighted and shadowed areas corresponding to the same tones we have used in the face.
Then there are the areas between the exposed scalp and the cornrow. In this areas the hair is pulled towards the plait and lies flat against the scalp. Looking closely we see that the individual strands of hair converge where they meet the plait. We then get a series of these converging areas of hair strands we need to show in our drawing if the hair is going to look realistic on the face.
It is very important to draw these strands of hair in the correct directions to not only show the gathering / converging effect, but also the shape of the head remember that these hairs lay flat against the head. That means these lines will follow the shape of the head.
