Start With A Simple Shirt
Anime clothes drawing will vary depending on how youd like your character to be dressed. For beginners, a simple shirt design is the easiest starting point.;
Around the neck of your character, draw sloping lines downwards and around the neck, leaving a small gap in the middle, to create an open-collar shirt.;
Start with the shirt collar before working on the sleeves or details.
Along the arms, add a light line in the middle where the elbow crease would be, with two slightly curved lines around the wrists for the ends of the sleeves. From here, you can draw a line straight down from the open collar to the waist, leaving an upside down V shape at the bottom. Draw two lines from either side of the hips in to meet the bottom of the V shape to form the ends of the shirt. A few dots up the centerline will give you the buttons.
Buttons and crease lines help to make your clothing appear more realistic.
Rotation Of Anime Ears
Anime ears are very simple to draw, with one exception: if you see them from behind, their base becomes visible. It’s like a conch, and you must imagine it this wayyou can’t simply draw the ears the same way in every view, or they’ll look flat!

How To Draw Anime Boy Face
A very simple and straightforward video on how to draw boys face in anime style starting by drawing the circle and adding the needed lines for the jaw and eyes.;
As you might have seen, the basics are always the same. Draw a circle and then add lines. Its that simple, yet it isnt when you want to draw a beautiful face. Its all about proportions and how things are placed in the head.
The video has a narration that makes it easy to follow through and learn at the same time. Its also nice to see the hand movements from the artist and the thought process behind the lines.

Male And Female Anime Faces
Although manga style faces are pretty feminine to begin with, there are certain ways to make the face look more masculine:
- The eyebrows are placed low above the eyes.
- The eyebrows may be thicker and less curved.
- The eyes are narrower.
- The eyelashes are minimal and less prominent.
- The pupil is small and circular.
- The lips are even less pronounced.
- The jawline is more pronounced.
- The neck is thicker.
- The nose is more pronounced.
Of course, not all of these methods must be applied. Sometimes, the sex difference is shown only by the clothes and the hairstyle!
Add The Final Touches
Your anime drawing is almost complete! Sketch two vertical lines directly under the face for the neck, making these as close together as youd like depending on how skinny or wide the neck should be.;
Finish up the facial features before adding in the final touches.
Anime hair will be the biggest difference in your drawing, depending on if youre working on an anime girl drawing or an anime boy drawing.
For boy hair, draw a small dot about one inch from the top of the face circle. From here, youll draw curved lines down to create a floppy hairstyle thats common for male characters. Youll frame these out by looping the lines up on the other side of your first lines to create shapes that look like a palm tree.
Hair on anime characters is typically messy so dont worry about it looking perfect.
For girl characters, youll start with those same curved lines that you would on a boy character, but keep these to only one or two lines. Youll then draw bigger curved lines around the outside of the face to create longer hair. Shade the outer edges of the hair to make it stand out and add any additional lines youd like to give it some more shape.
Once your drawing is complete, erase the guidelines before coloring or going over in ink.
Once youve added in the hair, you can erase your original guidelines and your drawing is finished!

How To Draw Round Anime Lips
Step 1:

Drawing a closed mouth in anime and manga is all about suggestive lines. Instead of creating details for the outline of the mouth, or creating a sharp division between the lips, were going to create suggestive lines indicative of the anatomy of the lips, and let the viewer infer the shape from the suggestions we make.;
This distinction is so important, that we should go over it again:
Instead of drawing all the details comprising the mouth and lips, we will communicate only the very basic information through suggestive lines, and let the viewer infer the rest of the expression.
Although it appears that perhaps this is easier to do than to draw a mouth in a very detailed way, actually it is not easy. It isnt easy because you have to convince the viewer with a very limited ability to communicate just a few marks on the page.

In fact, it is clear that all mangaka are capable of drawing realistic lips with precise detail, as it appears to be a prerequisite for proper placement of suggestive lines in the stylized and simplified version.

Draw The Face Features
In fashion design sketches the face features are a little exaggerated but we still need to stay true to reality to make the face look attractive.Draw the right eye as usual . The left eyes inner corner is covered by the nose and the outer corner is not visible because of the view angle. This will make it appear smaller. Make sure you have the same pupils and iris size as the other eye!

Pay attention to the shape of the mouth. The right half of it appears shorter because it is in perspective. Use the new Centerline to find the middle point of the mouth.

Construction Of Anime Girl Head
We need a solid method of construction of the human head before we can understand how to draw an Anime/Magna head or face.
Trust me when I tell you that all, yes all great Manga artists know how to draw a realistic human head. Whats more, they know how to draw it really, really well. Do not skip learning anatomy and construction of the face and try not to dive right into drawing in the Anime style, before understanding the basics of construction.
Luckily, there is an incredibly powerful method for the construction of the face that we can learn and practice developed by Andrew Loomis. I published a detailed tutorial on the Loomis method and you can find it at this link.
Basically, the method evolves drawing a sphere to represent the top portion of the head, then drawing in the jaw and other features based on predetermined landmarks and proportions. It is a great starting point for drawing the face. Check out the tutorial above.

Add The Facial Features
Draw two circles on the center guideline but leave a small opening at the bottom of each; these will be your eyes. When youre drawing anime, the eyes are one of the most important features and are usually much bigger than the other facial features. Sketch in an arch over the top of each circle and a curved line around the far side of each to frame the eyes.;
From here you can also add in a small V shape on the center guideline for the nose, a slightly curved line for a smiling mouth, and a couple of short and light pencil strokes underneath the eyes for a blushing effect.
Adding the facial features starts to bring your character to life.
Drawing Anime Mouths Teeth Showing
Regardless if the character is very excited in laughter or is just speaking loudly, drawings of anime mouths wide open seem to always be presented with teeth showing. Whether it is the upper teeth or lower teeth really depends on the perspective and angle at which the character is presented to the viewer.
Usually, if we are looking at a character from above, , their bottom teeth will be showing. When we are looking at the character from below ,;their upper teeth will be showing.;I also found out that in most anime that I reference for this tutorial, if we seem to be looking at the character straight on at about eye level,;the upper teeth will be showing and not the lower teeth.;

Before you begin drawing its a good idea to outline the defining features of the anime style.
Most female anime characters tend to have big eyes, a small mouth, nose and chin and a fairly round face. The lips are usually either very lightly defined or not drawn at all. The hair is usually drawn in clumps instead of individual strands and often tends to have a somewhat spiky look.
