Not all anime deals in giant robots, spacefaring bounty hunters, and cyborg samurai. In fact, some of the most powerful stories are much more down-to-earth and human. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is one such story. Sure, it still deals with the fantastical element of time travel, but the underlying tale is one of youth and confronting the consequences our actions create. Interestingly, the anime movie is actually based on a 1967 fictional novel of the same name by by Yasutaka Tsutsui. If youre interested in an introduction to anime, but youre not sure youre ready to jump into the deep end with something like Akira, this is definitely a good place to start.

Is This A Zombie
The whole concept of this show is beyond ridiculous. Which isnt a bad thing by the way. Gintama is ridiculous, as is My Bride Is A Mermaid but theyre actually good.
Is This A Zombie feels more like a fetish show for anyone who wants to see guys dressed up as a magical girl in a dress. And get bossed around by a harem of girls.
Im sure the comedy has its place but it didnt do it for me.

The worst horror series Ive ever layed eyes on.
The worst aspect of this show is the pacing. They rushed the story much too fast. And it goes over your head if you dont pay attention.
Thats not a bad thing in itself because Monogatari has similar vibes. But the difference is in how its paced and how it keeps you interested in comparison.
Half way through this series youll be wondering WTF is even happening, as the story and what its trying to portray is all over the place.
Its as if they took the story, broke it into pieces, and threw each piece not knowing where it would land.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Though Puella Magi Madoka Magica starts off like a cheery magical girls show, its anything but. A mysterious cat-like creature named Kyubey makes an enticing offer to middle schooler Madoka Kaname: become a magical girl to fight witches, and Kyubey will grant any wish in exchange. Madoka accepts, but quickly starts to discover the haunting truths behind the contract she signed. A dark take on the traditionally upbeat and hopeful magical girls genre, Puella Magi Madoka Magica becomes more deliciously disturbing through the jarring transitions to psychedelic imagery combined with eerie music. This series with a rosy premise captivatingly spirals into a psychological thriller that is chilling to the core.
Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt
As you might have guessed from the title, “Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt” is an adults-only affair. In fact, it was inspired by raunchy animated shows like “Drawn Together,” among other Western productions. While this makes it a totally inappropriate watch for anyone under 18, it also makes it especially well suited to Western anime newbies, who will find it to be familiar ground … even if the experience of watching characters who wouldn’t look out of place on “The Powerpuff Girls” swear, cheat, and steal is somewhat jarring.
Panty and Stocking are angels who’ve been booted from Heaven for their lustfulness and gluttony, respectively. To get back through the pearly gates, they need to tackle Daten City’s ghost problem with their magical lingerie: Panty’s underwear transforms into a pistol, while Stocking’s hosiery becomes katanas. Along the way, they battle uptight demon sisters, pull off a “Transformers” parody, and get turned into zombies. “Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt” throws pretty much everything at the wall to see what sticks, careening from one visual style, gross-out premise, and goofy pun to another. The results are hysterical, and offer the anime newbie a solid sampler of aesthetics, tropes, and tone. Armed with knowledge of “Panty and Stocking,” one can more easily make the jump to series like “Osomatsu-san” and “Kill la Kill.” Plus, you’ll never look at underwear the same way again.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride
This animated series takes place in a magical version of modern England, where Celtic and Scandanavian monsters and fairies live unseen in the wilds, far beyond human civilization. It’s almost like a fairy tale out there.
Viewers can easily relate to the familiar critters of this series, from a church grim to dragons and the famed Titania and Oberon. That and the fascinating skull-headed Elias can make for a compelling watch, all in 24 episodes.

The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K
Kusou Saiki just wants to live a quiet, ordinary life without standing out. Thats quite the challenge when he was born with a wide array of supernatural powers, from mind reading to telepathy to X-ray vision to psychokinesis. Saiki does everything he can to keep his abilities hidden and direct attention away from himself, which often requires excessive mental gymnastics in order to appear average. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is refreshing and lighthearted, with Saikis deadpan internal monologue about the woes of having psychic abilities being the highlight of the show.
Fate Extra: Last Encore
I cant even believe this is a FATE series. It feels like since Fate Zero, the fate series has been slightly going down hill.
Fate Apocrypha is the best one since Fate Stay Night.
Fate Extra on the other hand felt like the writers didnt know where they wanted to take it, or at what pace they wanted to move the plot forward.
It was all over the place .
Fate Extra was so bad I almost lost hope for FATE as a franchise.

Despite only receiving one season, at the time of writing, Re: Zero Starting Life on Another World is one of the most popular anime of the past few years, with the characters of Rem and Ram being particularly widespread across the anime merchandise.
The series follows Subaru, a young man who ends up being transported from the modern world into a fantasy world. In this world, Subaru learns that if he is killed, he resets to a ‘checkpoint’ allowing him to alter his actions and try again.

Any good sports anime will leave you wired with tension, glued to each play and each moment of team bonding. Long-distance track racing however, is not necessarily a sport that makes people dizzy with adrenaline, and so Production I.G., a studio that really knows their sports , takes things down a notch.
Meet Kakeru, a former ace runner who lost his friends and his club due to an altercation in high school. Now a university student, he gets invited to a downtrodden dormitory. It turns out that the dorm houses the involuntary members of a running club, all roped in by Haiji Kiyose, who wants them to participate in the Hakone Ekiden, the most prestigious university relay race in all of Japan.
Its a ridiculous plan, but the series takes you all the way from a group of young men refusing to even entertain the idea to reluctant training and finally, the race. Each of them faces different personal issues, and if theres one reason you likely wont expect from a sports anime, its sobbing like a baby when one of them has a breakthrough. The emotional depth of Run with the Wind is just that great, and its nice to see an anime like this focus on the issues of young men, rather than high school students.

Directed by Isao Takahata, this WWII anime revolves around a brother and sister who are trying to survive on their own, a situation that highlights the ugliness of war by focusing on the victims that are often forgotten about.
Grave of the Fireflies tells a profoundly personal storyline filled with regret and tragedy. This is a must-watch anime movie that most people will probably only be able to sit through once.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba
The advent of a shockingly quality anime surprised anime fans all over the world in 2019. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is adapted into an anime from the manga by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized on the Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016. The first season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba with 26 episodes was welcomed by both fans of the manga and people who had not read it.
The anime is set in the Taisho period in Japan where demons exist with human beings. The main character Tanjiro Kamado finds his family is killed by the attack of demons and only his sister Nezuko is changed into a demon. He decides to become a demon slayer to restore her to a human.
This anime includes every important part for an excellent anime from the main characters purity and growing to friends with the spirit of brotherhood and respect for any characters. The battle scenes between demon slayers with swords and unique demon characters are intense, which is beautifully drawn. Each characters past and background including even demons is respectfully depicted in this anime.
It is followed by the sequel story Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train released in October, 2020. This anime has not completed yet, but it is safe to say that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will grow to represent the best anime in Japan and around the world.
