Ookami Kodomo No Ame To Yuki
This is the highest-ranking SoL movie on my list.
Yes, other titles here have movies too.
But this is the only one that isnt primarily a series that just happens to have a compilation or sequel film.
To be honest, I think the very nature of slice of life is why my list is dominated by series.
SoL is about witnessing the seemingly trivial moments of everyday life, and series have a structure that makes me feel that Ive known the characters for many months or even years.
With that in mind, the fact that Wolf Children nearly made it to the top 10 is a testament to its charm: excellent cinematography, Mamoru Hosodas masterful direction, sometimes painful, and oh-so full of heart.
A Classroom Of The Elite Is Far From The Utopia It Appears To Be
On the surface, Classroom of the Elite looks like a typical slice-of-life series but set at an elite school called Koudo Ikusei Senior High School. It is a utopia, and students get an unimaginable about of freedom. It’s just that everything is determined by one’s rank. Four classes, A through D, are ranked in order of merit, and the top students get even more privileges and better treatment. Students are forced to compete with each other to survive and make money as part of the schools system and harsh rules.

The Disastrous Life Of Saiki Kusuo
Genres: Comedy, School, Shounen, Slice of Life, Supernatural
Telepathy, Teleportation, X-Ray Vision, Levitation, Time Leap and much more are all the abilities possessed by Psychic Saiki Kusuo. When talking about overpowered characters, he is on top of the list. Anything that comes to mind he can do with of course some restriction.
Normally gifts are considered to be a blessing but are nothing more than inconveniences for our hero whose only desire is to live the life of an average student. He spends his time trying to be as plain as humanly possible, staying away from the spotlight.
Something extremely difficult to do when all the bright and crazy people that attract attention gather around him for reasons he just cannot understand.

Best Slice Of Life Anime
If youre looking for a good romantic comedy, then Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun could be the perfect slice of life anime for you. It follows the story of Chiyo Sakura, a cheerful high school girl who has fallen in love with Umetarou Nozaki, a shoujo mangaka. Unfortunately, he is completely oblivious to her love for him and she ends up becoming one of his manga assistants following a series of misunderstandings.
The story takes you through both her relationship with the mangaka and the rest of her social life as she befriends other quirky schoolmates. You should definitely give this one a go if you like comedy or romance.
Gochuumon Wa Usagi Desu Ka
Often referred to as GochiUsa, this is the first CGDCT entry on my list.
It doesnt rewrite the subgenre. But the main characters are effectively endearing.
Plus, GochiUsa isnt concentrated in school.
Five of the young girls are waitresses, so they also have adventures in the cafe and around town.
Almost everything is normal in their world, except for the small talking rabbit of Chino Kafuu.
If anything, GochiUsa would be better off without that one fanservice episode.

Kimi No Suizou Wo Tabetai
And just like our previous entry, this series is also about moving forward in life.
But let’s just say that things are going to take some interesting turns in this case.
Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai is a 1hour 50 min anime movie that aired back in 2018.
It is an anime adaptation of a novel. The movie was directed by Ushijima Shinichirou and animated by Studio VOLN.
The series talks about a girl named Sakura who has been diagnosed with pancreatic disease.
However, when she meets our protagonist, her life is going to change forever. She is bound to experience death at one point or another.
However, with our protagonist by her side, we can be sure that these final days are going to be some remarkable ones.
This anime is all about living life to the fullest. And no matter at which point you stand, you must focus on what’s ahead of us.
Such incredible emotions are expressed beautifully with this movie.
The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya
This is the third final KyoAni entry on my list, which is indicative of how the studio has mastered the art of slice of life.
Is it based around a club? Yes.
Is it like other club-based series? Not really.
First, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya doesnt show events in chronological order.
Its completely normal for viewers to be confused, but also entertained once they connect the pieces.
Second, the show has a ton of monologues courtesy of Kyon.
Theres a huge element here that I wont spoil, but lets just say it makes everything all the more intriguing.
Not everyone likes the infamous Endless Eight Arc of S2, but both S1 and the movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya are downright classics.
And just like Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya had an OP with a viral dance sequence.

Wotaku Ni Koi Wa Muzukashii
Ive mentioned SoL shows featuring high school and college students, urban and rural settings, and a variety of clubs.
What about a focus on office workers?
Thats what Wotakoi brings to the genre .
Wotakoi is the effective office romance Ive always thought should exist in anime.
It doesnt have any fanservice because it knows its character dynamics and storytelling are more than enough.
And despite the office setting, this is far from dull.
Like any real adult, the cast members arent afraid to look goofy from time to time.
Thanks to the relatively small number of characters, viewers can expect everyone to have a memorable appearance.
