How To Draw Palms
In the figures presented above, pay attention to the fossa of the palm and how it is determined. Also, pay attention to how the back of the palm bends. Hands will never look natural until the artist understands the distinctive, special features of the hand.
The figures show hands holding an object. A loud sound during applause is created due to the sudden air pressure between the palms, which are collected in a cup, or simply folded together. Hands that cannot be folded are hard to draw. Learn your own hands.
Way To Draw A Hand Holding Something
Step 1 First step is quite simple, we will start by drawing an outline looking similar to our fist.
Step 2 Draw 5 lines for the fingers, the distance should be equal and the line for the thumb will be different as shown. Draw small circles to mark the joints.
Step 3 Now we will draw the fingers using the outlines made in the earlier step, and bend the fingers at 2nd circle to mark that we are holding something. Keep in mind to draw some lines the palm also.
Step 4 Remove the outlines and darken the actual lines. Now draw the object above and below the hand to make it look that it is being held.
Step 5 Wow, it looks amazing. Now you can color appropriately or follow the colors we have used.
Drawing Anime Hands A Step
The glove/mitten method stems from the fact that most of us can better imagine and draw a glove or a mitten than a detailed anime hand.
You dont have to worry about drawing in fingers. With this method, you only worry about the general shapes. Controlling general shapes is basis for all good drawing. That is to say, every great drawing starts with the artist having full control of the general shape of what they are drawing.
Start drawing anime hands with a simple boxy shape of a glove or a mitten. With this type of simplification fingers are indicated with one rectangular shape, then the simplified form is drawn over with more detail and by adding divisions of the fingers.
Above is a good example of how the glove/mitten method works.
When you draw the simplified form, think about the general shape of the hand, its proportions, the general gesture. Worry about the details on the second pass.
Above is an example of a very simplified form drawn for the fist. Note that, although the fingers twist down, I was able to draw that in later.
It was easier to draw because the general shape and perspective of the drawing was resolved in the simplified and boxy under-drawing on the left.
Note that all of the drawings of anime hands I made for the tutorial start with the general shape of the palm.

How To Draw Cool Hand Poses
Finally, advanced hand poses.
It’s a way of drawing an illustration that emphasizes the hands rather than the person.
First of all, it is better to draw the hand first than the person.
As with any illustration, it’s easier to draw the illustration you want to stand out first, and then add the surroundings.
In this illustration, the hand is drawn larger than the person, giving a sense of perspective between the person and the hand.
I won’t explain in detail how to draw a person this time, but I’m thinking of making explanation videos about other body parts someday.

The proportions of anime hands are different than typical hand poses in other mediums. Anime hands are usually a lot smaller and narrower than a typical human. This is because anime hands are typically not used for fidgeting or picking up objects, but rather to emphasize gesture and body language.
So when you draw anime hands be aware that they are usually not as long or thick.

Form the sides and tips of each finger by using short, gentle strokes. Start with the first four fingers and finish with the thumb.
Youll find it easier to visualize how the fingers should bend thanks to these circles.

The illustrations above are basically the poses of the hands you often see.
The poses of the hands drawn below are versions of the above illustrations from different angles.
In particular, the first illustration with a different angle may be difficult for beginners.
So, I drew a confused emoji next to it to express the difficulty.

Proportions Of Anime Hand
There are certain proportions that you need to know to draw a correct hand. You don’t need to be strict about them, but keep them in mind and try to follow them.
First, the length of the index finger is roughly equal to the whole palm .
The ideal proportion of the joints on the index finger is: a half for the second joint, then again a half for the third. However, in reality, the second joint often lies at about 40% of the finger’s length. Feel free to chose the proportion that you like morein stylized anime hands, the difference shouldn’t be that visible!
The thumb is as long as or slightly shorter than the little finger, but for me it’s best measured through its relation to the first fingerthe thumb’s tip doesn’t reach its second joint.

Six Steps To Realistic Hands
A step-by-step approach can help demystify the process of drawing hands, as well as make sure your illustrations look anatomically correct at every stage. Comic book artist Megan Levens uses a six-step process for hand drawing, starting with basic bone structure and building up to details like fingernails and shading.

Step 1: Start with bone structure.
Your first layer should be the bones of the hand, the carpals. Dont worry about making it pretty this step is about laying the foundation for an anatomically correct hand. Just as the bones are the framework of the body, bones will also be the framework of your drawing. Each finger radiates out at a different angle, notes Levens. They shouldnt all point straight ahead together. Daviscourt also recommends starting from the wrist at this step because the wrist is where the lines of the hand start to intersect visually.
To make your hands look realistic, consider the height differences between your fingers. The middle finger should be the tallest, with the ring finger and index finger on the downward slope of the arch, and the little finger finishing out the line. The thumb is an outlier from the rest and should sit farther apart from the others.

Then Draw The Middle Finger
To create the middle finger, draw an upside down U-shaped curve right beside the ring finger.
Remember, the middle finger is the tallest of all five fingers. So, make sure to keep that in mind when drawing the fingers.
