Fill The Shadow With The Character
You can add some very basic nuances to the drawing to make the work more prominent, shaded for some areas needed, for example:
Shadow poured from hair to forehead and sides of face
Congratulations Really Nice Work
Head turns are tricky because you have to keep the head looking consistent throughout or it won’t be a convincing head turn. And the elements of the head have to remain consistent too, such as the nose, eyes, etc.
For the character that I used as an example, I worked super roughhe doesn’t even have ears. Other head turns can be harder with characters that have more detail. As long as you remember to keep the same volume and mass as the head turns, you’ll do just fine. And remember, keep animating!
How To Draw Manga Head Multiple Angles
While the video itself might not be super high-quality , I think the video itself is pretty good. The basics are nicely presented, and in the video, you can see how the head shape is created in a few strokes.
In the video, the artist doesnt explain too much about the basics but does show the basics.

Understanding How A Mouth Opens
When drawing a mouth in any style its important to understand how the jaw opens. The jaw does not simply lower down like an elevator but instead swings down more like a door swings on its hinges but unlike a door it also moves slightly forward.
Excluding the lips the top part of the mouth does not move.

The video focuses on drawing feminine anime face and head, and what I like about this video is that the artist is pretty thorough with explaining how things work.
Explaining things like which eye draw first and how to draw eyes, etc. makes the video feel complete and entertaining.
If you struggle drawing anime and manga head from an angle, this is one of those videos that covers just that.
Changing Up The Proportions To Suit Your Own Style
Here comes the fun part! By changing the proportions, you can create different looks. I will go through a few examples and the changes made to achieve the style.
Cute/ chibi style
The trick here is big heads, big eyes and short chins! Ive made a more detailed post on how to draw the chibi style here.
From the picture above, you can see that a cute chibi style head is a lot shorter and rounder, thus cuter. The eyes are placed a lot lower on the face and there is little space for the nose and mouth. Some of the noses are almost on the same line as the bottom of the eyes. The eyes are also relatively larger.
More matured anime style
For a more matured anime head, the proportions should be more towards a realistic proportion. Ive made a post about it here.
As you can see from the example above, the eyes are relatively smaller and slightly higher.
Above are how to draw the head in anime style in front view! I hope youve learnt something new from this post and are able to draw your very own anime head in proportion.

How To Draw An Anime Girl Head
One of the things you should keep in mind is that anime proportions are somewhat close to those of real people. Youll have an easy time if you take that into consideration whenever youre working on your sketches.
Make sure the bottom part of the shape is narrow. You can also sketch a neck for your character, but its entirely optional.

Creating a zine or a comic is pretty complex, so why not start with creating small items?
Today, I will explain how to prepare art for acrylic keychains, which are easy to make and look cute with chibi characters!
An acrylic keychain usually requires three separate data, depending on the printing vendor template.
Open the template, and paste these images on separate layers, usually the following:
Then, send the data to the printing vendor.
For the artwork, choose the data you want to use.
At the top, indicate where to place the hole for the keyring chain.
Make sure you dont draw anything over the hole.
The white fill is the base color under the illustration.
Without this white base, the illustration will be printed directly on the transparent acrylic, which makes the colors appear translucent and hard to see.
To print your illustration as you created it, make sure to create a white fill layer.
It is easy to create this data create a duplicate of the illustration layer and fill it with a solid color. The printing vendor will print this layer in white.
Because it sits under the illustration, the shape should be a silhouette of the artwork. If you want certain parts to appear transparent, you can remove the white fill on those parts.
Cut area shows where the acrylic board will be cut.
The layer can be purely black. Fill the area surrounding the illustration in black.
Avoid creating a complex cut border, as the keyring maker may not be able to cut it.
Drawing Startled Anime Eyes Side View
Draw the iris slightly smaller than normal and the eyelids slightly raised for startled anime eyes from the side view. Because startled anime eyes are often vertically stretched, its difficult to get enough distance between the eyes and eyelids to give them that startled look.

Draw The Mouth Of The Character

Finally, locate the lower lip of the mouth with a line between the tip of the nose and chin, and then draw the upper lip a bit above.
The lower lip will be a short stroke, the upper lip is longer, is a gentle curve, breaking a small fold in the middle. Note that the male character will have a wider mouth than the female character

Draw The Front Section Of The Hair
To add the hair we will use the drawing approach define in this tutorial:
To summarize it the hair will be split into the forward, sides and back sections shown in red green and blue.
The reason for this is to make the drawing process easier to manage and understand instead of simply seeing things as one big clump of hair.
Begin by drawing the front section of the hair as shown above.
In this case the character will have fairly natural looking somewhat messy hair of medium length.
For hair like this draw it in fairly large clumps pointing in slightly different directions.
Drawing A Frowning Male Side View Face
For a frowning face draw the eyes eyebrow lowered . Make the eye slightly squinted with the bottom eyelid in reverse of its normal curve.
Draw the mouth in an upside down curve as well with the bottom lips very slightly raised.
You can see how the facial feature shift when frowning in comparison to their normal state in the example above.

How To Draw An Anime Head
The readers of Easydrawingart.com are very fond of drawing anime, and so today we will show you how to draw an anime head. This instruction is part of a series of articles on anime sketching and recalls one of the previous guides on how to draw an anime face. Unlike the above article, here we will pay more attention to the details of the head in general. Otherwise, the process of drawing an anime head differs little from the process of depicting an anime face.
So, what is needed to learn how to draw an anime head. You will need your art set, whether it be a pencil with paper or a graphics tablet, as well as a love of anime drawings.
How To: Draw 1/2 View
This is a very good art tutorial on how to draw the manga head from the side view.
The artist explains her drawing process pretty nicely, and its easy to follow through. What I like about this tutorial is that the artist is explaining the differences between the female and male heads.
When we think about reality and how our heads differ from male to female, you dont notice so much difference. Yes, a male might have a bit more prominent chin than females, but overall we look about the same.
However, in the manga, there is a clear difference between male and female heads and faces, and in this video, the artist brings those differences up in a really nice and clear way.

Drawing A Smiling Male Side View Face
For a light smile draw the face with the eyebrow lowered just a tiny bit towards its front and draw the eye with the bottom eyebrow in reverse of its normal curve.
Draw the mouth a tiny bit wider and with more of a curve.
You can see in the above example that there really is not that much of a change in the facial features for this particular expression.
How To Draw Anime & Manga Eyes Side View
This tutorial will show you how to draw anime and manga style eyes from the side, in various states and with various expressions. Although anime eyes are typically drawn much larger than real eyes in relation to the head and are frequently vertically stretched, they are based on real eyes, and understanding how real eyes function can be beneficial.

Anime Head Side View Guideline Construction Process
Lets get straight into it! Please note that this is just how I create guidelines for my drawings. Different artists will have different ways in which they construct their guidelines, some can just Freehand everything!
First, as usual, draw a circle. Next, draw a vertical line down the left or right side of the circle, this is where the head will be facing. Now, decide where you want the bottom of the chin to be for your head. If youre drawing a more mature head, the chin will be longer if youre drawing a younger person, the chin should be shorter. in this example, Im drawing a young female, so the chin is pretty short.
Next, draw a horizontal line in the middle of the head (between the top of the head and the bottom of the chin. This line is where the top of the eye will be
Draw another horizontal line between the top of the eyes and bottom of the chin, this guideline is for the bottom of the nose.
Draw a horizontal line slightly into the face from the vertical line, this line should cut across the bottom line for the chin and the eyes. Add a slight inward curve around where the eye is. The intersection between the guideline for the bottom of the chin and the vertical line will be where the tip of the chin touches.
Where the top of the eyes is, draw a slight dip inwards the head.
From the bottom of the mouth to the chin, theres a slight inward curve.
Now you have a basic shape for the head! Time to start refining and adding in details.
How To Draw A Manga Male Head

In the video, Sophie Chan explains the subtle differences between male and female faces, so this tutorial is especially nice if you want to learn those differences.
The video presents a bit different approach to drawing the head, as Sophie starts from the chin, after the drawing the usual circle. Many starts by drawing the horizontal and vertical lines, but not Sophie, in this video, which makes the process a bit more interesting.
So in a sense, this video shows you how to draw the head before drawing elements like eyes, nose, mouth, etc. In the end, you have a clear head and face structure to draw on further.

Drawing A Relaxed Male Side View Face
For a relaxed face draw the eyebrow in its natural state with the eye closed. Draw the mouth slightly shorter and with almost no curve.
Its important to note that for the closed/relaxed state of the eye you should draw it all the way down to where the bottom eyelid was when it was open.
In this particular example you can see that the main change in this expression is the eye.

Add The Final Touches
Your anime drawing is almost complete! Sketch two vertical lines directly under the face for the neck, making these as close together as youd like depending on how skinny or wide the neck should be.
Finish up the facial features before adding in the final touches.
Anime hair will be the biggest difference in your drawing, depending on if youre working on an anime girl drawing or an anime boy drawing.
For boy hair, draw a small dot about one inch from the top of the face circle. From here, youll draw curved lines down to create a floppy hairstyle thats common for male characters. Youll frame these out by looping the lines up on the other side of your first lines to create shapes that look like a palm tree.
Hair on anime characters is typically messy so dont worry about it looking perfect.
For girl characters, youll start with those same curved lines that you would on a boy character, but keep these to only one or two lines. Youll then draw bigger curved lines around the outside of the face to create longer hair. Shade the outer edges of the hair to make it stand out and add any additional lines youd like to give it some more shape.
Once your drawing is complete, erase the guidelines before coloring or going over in ink.
Once youve added in the hair, you can erase your original guidelines and your drawing is finished!
Cleaning Up And Finishing The Drawing
Tip: Practice drawing different hairstyles on a piece of tracing paper over your drawing so you dont have to erase your character if you dont like the style you drew.
