Anime Girl Clothes Drawing

How to Paint Anime Style Sweat Drops Digitally / ibisPaint X

When drawing girl clothes, you have to account for the shape of the female body. For this tutorial, were going to sketch an anime skirt and blouse.

  • Sketch the blouse and the skirt. Use light lines and simple shapes to outline the main contours.
  • Add more details to the sketch. The skirt should have some pleats at the bottom, and the shirt should have a collar and some cuffs. You can also add a necktie or scarf if you want.
  • Trace the shirt and the skirt with dark lines. Add some folds to make them look realistic. You can also include some additional details in this stage.
  • To complete the drawing, add shadows to the clothing. Start by outlining the contours of the shadows, then fill the contours using hatching.
  • How To Draw Anime Clothes For Male Characters

Drawing clothes for a female/girl or a male/boy follows the same principles. Its not so much about the gender of the character, but more of the material and texture of the clothing.

However, if we like to go a bit further with male clothes, I would say theres this slight strength in them. Male anime outfits are usually slightly masculine compared to female outfits or clothes.

The clothing can also be a bit more rigid and have darker shades than female clothing. However, I wouldnt limit the options male anime characters can have for clothing.

    The Beatles: Get Back

If you’re a Beatles fan, then look no further than Peter Jackson’s epic documentary on the band. In true Jackson style, it’s long, the three parts clocking in at 157 minutes, 174 minutes, and 139 minutes. The documentary features archive footage of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, at a particularly strained time in the band’s history: the recording sessions that eventually became the film and album Let It Be, released after the group had disbanded.

Even if you’re not particularly a lover of The Beatles, Get Back is still an unparalleled look into the behind-the-scenes workings of the creative process and some timeless tunes. Plus, it dismisses a few myths: this isn’t an unpleasant time to hang out with the Beatles, but one filled with laughs and love.

How To Draw Cartoon Pants And A Simple Belt

This tutorial will show you how to draw cartoon pants! I know what you are gonna say! Pants are not really a body part! They are still a useful piece of clothing that you need to draw accurately in order to make your character look more believable! Just like the human body, pants should be drawn organically with style and… folds!

    Step 1

First, draw a rectangle to create the top of the pants.

    Step 2

Next, sketch two long rectangles to form the legs of the pants. The distance between both shape is important. If the two legs are too close, it might look like your character will have trouble moving. If the legs are too far from each other, then your piece of clothing won’t look realistic at all.

    Step 3

Continue working on your illustration by drawing a nice and irregular outline. Notice how the bottom of the pants are slightly larger and rounder.

    Step 4

Add some rectangles to form the belt loops and the belt itself.

    Step 5

Now work on the outline of the belt loops and the belt to complete the sketching parts. Your pants should look great by now! Let’s add some details to make it look even better!

    Step 6

Add some lines to represent the folds on the pants. One line will be used to create the fly. Two other lines are used to illustrate the pockets.

    Step 7

Now let’s add some shadows! Since pants are loaded with folds, some shadows will be created on the pants! I usually add shadows below each fold since the source of the light will likely be above the pants.

    Step 8

    Dynamics Of Anime Clothes

    O

As discussed before, you want to make the clothes support the character. Think about Darling In The FranXX anime series.

The character has a very military looking outfit, and when you think about the character. The character is very stiff to the outside world, mysterious, but also very powerful. So the outfit has to support that characters personality.

When you are drawing clothes for your anime character, its not so important to how to draw, but WHAT to draw. Make the clothes support your vision of the character.

When youve decided on the clothes, its time to tackle the dynamics of the clothes. With dynamics, I mean the flow and mood the clothes bring.

How the clothing moves and how it supports other elements in the drawing is essential.

If you think about the picture above, the hair is flowing with the wind, but so is the ribbon and the skirt. So, the whole character is moving as the clothes are moving.

Remember that anime clothes kind of has their own lives. Neon Genesis Evangelion is another brilliant example of how clothes look anime. The suits the characters are wearing fit to the world they are living in and the world supports that kind of clothes. It all works together, world and clothes.

In the image above, I used a strong contrast between the hard metal/gold chain and the sweetness of a ribbon to create this anime clothing come to alive.

    How To Color Anime Clothes

Here are my best tips on how to color anime clothes:

    • The transparent fabric should be colored lightly and so that the light shines through the fabric. Keep the shadows light and transparent.
    • The heavy fabric should have strong and dark shadows
    • A rubber texture should have clear light spots and a strong contrast between dark and light.
    • Change the darkness of the shading according to the material of the clothing
    • No color restrictions, use any color you like, just make sure it complements the personality of the character

In my example drawing, the character is elegant, maybe even royalty, so the coloring has to match that personality but also the design of the outfit.

    Understand How Pants Are Made

First of all, it is important to learn the structure of pants.

A pair of pants has a singular tube from the waist to the top of the crotch, and divides down into two tubes for the legs.If you cut it in half lengthwise, you will see that only the leg area are more circular than the crotch area, as shown in the figure.

So in most cases pants are shaped in a complex way, sewn together at the belly and buttocks.

Now that you have a rough idea of how it works, lets get drawing.

    Drawing An Anime Skirt

To draw an anime school uniform skirt start once again by drawing its overall shape. Next draw some vertical lines to indicate the proportions of the folds. Its important to note that the folds in this particular design will be sort of like teeth that point in one direction but slowly curve around.

In this example the inner side of the folds because invisible as they progress from the left side of the picture to the right.

    Drawing Anime Sweat Pants

To draw anime sweat pants again start by drawing the overall shape.

For sweat pants that are fairly baggy that hang down as in the example there will be very few folds. The only major folds in this example will be on the knee of the forward leg as the pants will hang off of it very slightly creating some tension.

How To Draw Front And Back Pants:

Step 1: Start with drawing a long curved line as shown in the image for the front waistline of your pant.

Step 2: Draw another curved line below the drawn one going backward and forming a rectangle, draw one more curved line in between these 2, and a rectangular shape for the buckle.

Step 3: In this step draw legs of pant, for this draw long verticle lines from the waistline, at the bottom again draw a small curved line for the bottom and turn it back towards the waistline and join them at a point, from this point draw a single line to the waistline. Draw an L shape in the middle for the zipper.

Step 4: Add details to the pant, draw a circle in the middle of the waistline for the bottom, on both sides draw a belt loop with a rectangle. In the last draw double curved line on both sides of the pant forming pockets.

Step 5: In this step start drawing the backside of the pant, again draw the same waistline of pant.

Step 6: Draw 4 belt loops with the curved rectangles on the waistline.

Step 7: Repeat the pant leg drawing as did for the front portion, only not to draw the L shape of the zipper.

Step 8: Draw the back pockets below the waistline on both sides. Draw a pentagon with a small circle, for the button, on it.

Step 9: Color the pant with a light blue color as it is the original color of denim.

    What Makes Clothes Anime

Its weird, but I think theres a certain style in place when drawing anime clothes. Like, the clothes are based on reality and all, but theres this small twist in them. Its hard to explain, so I do my best here.

When you think about anime characters and what type of clothing they use, its a bit different than what is thought to be normal. If you think about Dragon Ball Z, the clothes are very anime looking. Right!

And if you think about Akira, Code Geass, or My Hero Academia, theres this certain fantasy flavor in them. They look like they could be real, but you just know that they are anime clothes.

So how do you create these? How do you actually draw them?

    So lets tackle that then.

Below is an example image of an anime character I designed. As you can see, the character has this ballerina-like pose. And when we have this kind of pose, a suitable outfit is something very gentle, fragile, and elegant.

When I draw the clothing, I keep in mind the flow of the pose and the flow of the hair. I try to bring as much dynamism to the clothes as possible.

I like to keep the flow there, and I think THAT is the thing that makes anime clothes look like anime clothes.

The clothing is infused with the characters. It is part of their character. They are one with the outfit, and it looks like the clothing moves with the character. Think Kill La Kill!

Clothing that lives! I think that is the very essence of drawing anime clothing the right way.

Lets Start With A Simple Shape

Lets draft a basic frontal shape. After placing a new canvas, select the Brush tool and choose the Pencil brush.Pencil is good for drafting.

If you are wondering What is a draft?, please check this page below.

First draw some lines to cover the legs, and draw a trapezoid from the crotch to the waist.

TipThe cloth of the crotch area is in a sharp angle here, but this should change since pants are supposed to be comfortable. You should make put more curve to the area, even if the cloth furthers away from the body.

Incidentally, there is a big difference in the features of the pelvis between men and women. When drawing a woman, make the base of the trapezoid wider to make her look more feminine.

It would be nice to draft the body lines properly, but it would take a huge amount of time to do this for all of your illustrations. If you are in a hurry or drawing small illustrations, memorize how to draw differently by gender.

How To Draw Folds In Anime Clothes

If we think about a shirt, jacket, pants, or any other clothes imaginable, there will be folds in them. The folds are created by your characters limbs.

If you think about your shirt or pants you are wearing, and you bent your knee or arm, you can see how the folds get created.

So how do you draw them?

You USE REFERENCE images. Its nearly impossible to know exactly how folds actually work if you dont have a reference image available.

If you look at the image above, you can see how the folds work when the arm is at a 90-degree angle. What is so nice about creating art is that you can use imagination and realism together to create something new.

So do not just accept things as they are but create something that hasnt been seen before.

What makes anime folds so special is the exaggeration of the folds. Also, the number of folds can be exaggerated. And that is what makes anime folds a bit different than normal folds.

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Although things first kicked off with a 2008 feature film, the Clone Wars series has since carried on the story, filling in the three year-gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi feature prominently as characters, as they lead the Republic against the Separatist forces first brought together by former Jedi Count Dooku.

Despite the returning character, though, its all about Ahsoka. Its pretty astounding that a character from an animated spin-off series has slowly grown into one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time. Shes a hero with enough of a concrete sense of right and wrong that shes able to question the very establishment she yearned to be a part of, making the choice to leave the Jedi Order because she no longer believes in the nobility of its practices. Its an incredible piece of drama and an interesting way to muddy the waters without throwing out the entire concept of the light and dark side. Plus, the last season a Disney Plus exclusive is excellent.

What To Remember When Drawing Anime Clothes

There are a few key things you need to remember:

    • Make the clothing move according to the characters pose
    • Characters pose slightly define the clothing
    • Characters hair also slightly define the clothing, some clothing works better than another with a certain hairstyle
    • The clothes have a life of their own and support the character

The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh

The reason theres a new in the title is because the show follows on pretty directly from the 1977 film The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh . Inspired by A.A. Milnes stories, it follows our beloved bear as he wanders aimlessly through the Hundred Acre Woods, doling out zen catchphrases and getting his curvaceous behind stuck in various burrows and tree stumps. Everyones favourites are here, from Eeyore to Tigger, while it remains the only series to regularly feature Christopher Robin as a character.

The series is a near-perfect continuation of the stories we all know and love. It just has such a calming presence. Its like a big hug from someone wearing a fuzzy jumper or a cup of tea on a blustery day.
