Do you ever feel like you cant quite get the body right when you draw anime women? Since the anime style is quite simplified, the face can feel easier to draw, but the body actually draws a lot on real human anatomy, so it can be a lot trickier! Especially when it comes to curvier, glamourous figures, the way the curves appear on each woman is different, so its a very difficult area to get right.
Personal preference is important too since there are countless different body types out there. You should take a look at lots of reference material and find the balance that you would like to recreate in your work!

The first thing I hear when someone sits in front of me for a caricature is usually Make me skinnier.
Well, that and Make me younger. And sometimes, Make me prettier.Make my nose smaller.Make my boobs bigger.
People are worried about how they are going to look in a caricature. They want to be made fun of but not too much. Every now and then someone sits down and says Go for it, but most of the time, I have to draw the line between funny and cute.
So heres what I do, and what I recommend for anyone trying to draw heavier people: Split the Difference.
Imagine someone averagely thin. Imagine where they would go on the paper. Now look at the heavy person in front of you. See how much larger they are than the person youre imagining, and split the difference.

If that neck is actually two inches wider than the average neck, make it one inch wider. If the cheeks droop an inch below the jaw, make it half an inch. If there are three chins, make it one and a faint suggestion of a chin.
Doing this, you can keep your good cartoon likeness and still manage to flatter a little bit. Its kind of an optimistic drawing its what your subject would look like after a month or two of diet and exercise.

Shojo And Shonen Styles
While the shoujo or shojo stories are aimed more towards girls, they are also popular with boys. The main character is generally a girl and the story often revolves around fairly normal occurrences. However, there are historical stories , stories with supernatural elements , or that take place in a science-fiction world .

Curves Are Super Important
To draw a sexy adult anime woman, we need to emphasise the most feminine parts of the body. That is, the breasts, bum, hips and waist basically all the curves in her body.
Some of you might feel called out here, and Im sorry but drawing huge, perfectly round breasts is not the way to go when aiming for a curvy character!
Of course, the size of the breasts and bum is totally up to you. But remember the soft, natural curves of the body! Think of how the breasts are affected by gravity, and think of them as having a soft, almost water balloon consistency. We dont want two hard, soccer ball shapes just stuck on to the body.
Also, be careful not to neglect the curves on the rest of the body. The hips and bum are equally important in making a character look curvy and feminine. Make sure the waist is defined, and the tummy and hips are curved out to make a rounded, soft appearance.
Women are naturally designed to hold more body fat than men, and the way this fat is distributed around the body is different too. Healthy women usually store fat in their buttocks, hips, lower abdomen and thighs so even a very slim woman should have some definition here, to prevent her stomach, hips and legs from looking underdeveloped or boyish.
How To Paint Chibi Characters
For eye and hair highlights, I recommend Screen and Add in Blending Mode.

If you use Screen or Add with the same transparency, it tends to be dark.
Therefore, it is recommended to use it with transparency of about 30 to 50%.
You dont have to paint cheeks, but it will make the chibi character look cuter.
Also, I like to add shadows to the white eyes because adding them will make the eyes look more natural.
If you apply a color close to the color of hair or skin to the line art around eyelashes and eyes, you will get a transparent and soft chibi character.

How To Draw In A Well
When you draw a mini character, it is important to consciously narrow down the amount of information.
It will be impossible for drawing clothes that all the elements are reflected in the chibi character as it is.
So lets reduce the number of elements, combine them, and simplify them.

It is recommended to hide the line art layer and check if there is any unpainted area.
It is difficult to find the unpainted part if the color is light.
So, try to paint as dark as possible.
If you the colors for each part, it will be useful for the detailed coloring later.
Create new layers on top of the color layers divided into each part.
