Once a Pokémon evolves, there is no turning back.

In the Digital World, evolutions also follow specific paths. Digimon can evolve with the help of their human partner. These forms have varying ranges of power. These forms are used to take down more powerful enemies. After the battle, the Digimon return to their base forms, unlike Pokémon.

Did Better: Dont Expect Plot Armor
The Pokémon anime series has been ongoing since the late 90s. The series always features Ash Ketchum and his loyal Pikachu. They come across two new companions, have a few adventures, Ash loses the Pokémon Championship, and the cycle repeats itself.
Digimon actually has a set story for each new season. Seasons 1 and 2 are intertwined. The first batch of kids from the beginning are now older. They help the kids in the second series. At the end of each Digimon season, their story concludes, and a new one begins in the next season. Fans actually feel some tension since they know the story won’t start with the same protagonist from the previous series.
Ripped Off: Existed Outside Of The Game
The very first episode of the Pokémon anime series debuted in 1997. Young viewers were captivated by Ash, Misty, and Brock’s adventures in the Kanto region. Ash was well on his way to earning every gym badge and becoming a Pokémon master.
Two years later, Digimon Adventures debuted on Fox Kids that would compete with Pokémon.
The show featured seven kids who were trapped in the Digital World. They also worked with cute animal-like creatures to overcome their enemies. Both animated series was targeted towards children. The showrunners hoped that children would become so interested in Digimon that they would rush to buy their merchandise, just like Pokémon.

Ripped Off: We Need An Egg
Pokémon all start off their lives in colorful eggs. In the first Season, Misty took care of an unknown egg until it hatched into Togepi. The new Pokémon knew that Misty watched over it the whole time, and shared an unbreakable bond with her.
Digimon’s creatures are also born from eggs, even though they are digital creatures.
The egg must be cared for before it hatches into an unknown creature. Bandai could have developed a more futuristic method of hatching a new Digimon lifeform but had to choose eggs. It’s no surprise that this is a reason many Pokémon fans consider Digimon a rip-off.
Did Pokemon Start Off As A Manga
Was Pokemon initially manga and then tv producers changed the story they wanted it or was it a product of imagination of tv producers?
Pokémon actually started as a pair of video games published by Nintendo for the Game Boy in 1996. Known as Pokémon Red and Blue , these games were followed up by some short stories.
IIRC, first came the Pokémon comics, then the Pokémon series debuted on television on April 1, 1997, and shortly thereafter the manga was released on August 8, 1997.

Winds Of New Beginnings
Almost since the very beginning of the series, it had been apparent that the first 151 Pokémon would not be the last. Ho-Oh was seen as early as the first episode of the anime, Togepi was owned by a main character, and others like , Snubbull and Donphan were seen in the first movie. Later, when the second generation of Pokémon was drawing nearer, others like Lugia, Slowking and Elekid made their way to the second movie.
On November 21, 1999, Nintendo of Japan released Gold and Silver Versions for the then-new Game Boy Color. This time, Trainers were invited to the land of Johto, where 100 more Pokémon were waiting to be captured. The new games enhanced the Pokémon gaming experience by adding many new features, the most famous likely being the ability for Pokémon to have different genders, in turn allowing them to breed. A time system was also introduced, with a real-time clock allowing different events to happen during the day, at night, and in the morning, as well as on certain days of the week. Another important addition was the friendship system. Shiny Pokémon also first appeared, most notably a Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage. Trainers could also return to Kanto and face the Gym Leaders that were present in the original games. Pokémon Gold and Silver made its way to North America on October 11, 2000.
On December 14, 2000, Pokémon Stadium 2, bringing the Generation II Pokémon into full 3D for the first time. This game reached North America on March 25, 2001.
Tentacruel Cannot Melt Steel
The events of September 11th, 2001, led to a period of censorship across all forms of media to scenes that superficially resembled the terrorist attacks in New York City. A;Simpsons;episode featuring the World Trade Center was taken out of rotation for many years. When it was finally shown again, several scenes involving the towers were taken out, even on the latest home releases. The second;Spider-Man;game on the PlayStation had to be delayed, and its ending changed, due to the final battle against Electro taking place on top of the World Trade Center.
Pokémon;had several episodes removed from rotation, as a response to the attacks. The episode “The Tower of Terror” was banned for several years because of its name alone. The episode featured Ash travelling to Lavender Town, in order to catch a Ghost-type;Pokémon so that he could win his rematch against Sabrina and her Psychic-type Gym. There was no offensive content in the episode at all.
The episode “Tentacool & Tentacruel” was also banned for several years. This was due to several scenes that showed a giant Tentacruel destroying buildings . What made this banning odd was the fact that several scenes from this episode appeared in the show’s opening , but they were left in.

The English Version Had Meme And Modern Internet References
A member of the the comedy forum website, Something Awful, actually worked on the English translation of Diamond and; Pearl. He was Nob Ogasawara and went by the username Douglas Dinsdale in Something Awful. Many fans believe that due to his contribution to the English verison of the games, that there was more Internet and meme lingo in the content.
A prime example with a couple NPCs use the words noob and owned.

Back To Kanto And Onward To The Battle Frontier
On January 29, 2004, two new games were released in Japan: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. They arrived in North America on September 9, 2004, and were remakes of Pokémon Red and Green which brought the games up to Generation III standards, as well as adding wireless connectivity and a new region the Sevii Islands. These games also gave the event PokémonDeoxystwo additional forms, which could only be obtained by moving Deoxys to a FireRed or LeafGreen cartridge.
Not yet finished with the Hoenn story, Game Freak developed a third version to complement Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald. This game was released in Japan on September 16, 2004, and in North America on May 1, 2005. Emerald featured the same wireless connectivity as FireRed and LeafGreen, as well as an updated version of Hoenn with many new features, including the Hoenn Battle Frontier, the ability to re-battle Gym Leaders, an altered plot, and animations for all Pokémon, as in Crystal.
The animecaught up with both the Generation I remakes and Emerald by having the group travel back to Kanto and face the Kanto Battle Frontier there. During this season’s time two more movies were produced: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea .
Short For Pocket Monsters
For those that ever wondered why the series is called Pokémon, it is because the creatures that trainers catch are monsters that can fit into their pocket.

Welcome Back To Hoenn
Just like the Generation III remakes for the incompatible Generation IRed and Green games and the Generation IV remakes for the incompatible Generation IIGold and Silver games, Pokémon fans have widely speculated that remakes of the Generation III Pokémon games, Ruby and Sapphire, would be made for Nintendo 3DS. Indeed, the paired remakes, titled Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, were revealed in a worldwide announcement on the official Pokémon websites on May 7, 2014 and were eventually released in Worldwide on November 21, 2014.
Ripped Off: Both Have Monstrous Roots
Pocket Monsters was originally released in Japan by Nintendo. After seeing how successful the game was, they decided to bring it over to North America. The name of the series was changed to Pokémon. Devoted fans of the series always knew the original title was localized for North American audiences. This may be a reason why they decided that Digimon was a rip-off. Digimon’s title is also a shortened version of the Japanese title Digital Monsters. Both titles use the word “Monsters” and have the suffix “-mon.” These may appear to be small similarities, but it’s enough for some to consider Digimon a copy.

This weekend, on 27th February, the Pokémon series celebrates 25 years since the launch of the original Game Boy titles.
There have already been rumours floating about and now the official Pokémon Twitter account seems to be joining in on the fun. Its currently doing a countdown featuring different generations of pocket monsters. With four days remaining, its shared the following tweet, saying Lets go, Sinnoh.
Despite the fact the same account has referenced other Pokémon games and generations in its daily countdown, this particular tweet has some fans quite excited.

The Sinnoh region was first introduced in the fourth generation alongside Pokémon Diamond & Pearl for Nintendo DS.
In case you forgot, last month, Spanish fansite Centro Pokémon reportedly confirmed Switch remakes of the DS titles Pokémon Diamond & Pearl were in development and would be revealed around the time of Pokémon Day, on 27th February.
Pokémon Center can confirm that, according to sources close to the company, remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl , originally released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS, are in development for the Nintendo Switch .
A much older rumour dating back to 2019 suggests possible remakes of Diamond and Pearl would feature lets go catching . Centro Pokémon has said new versions wouldnt be like this, but instead closer in style to the original 2006 releases.
Dont Skimp On The Small Stuff
This is a simple one, as its easy to say not to cut corners or put no effort in on small details in a videogame. However, its true nonetheless. Players notice the small things that were either left out or not really improved upon compared to previous games.
Among the things that were criticized in Pokemon Sword & Shield was the seeming lack of major graphical improvements, interesting attack animations, and the short draw-distance in the overworld. Players notice that kind of thing.

Johto’s Heart And Soul
Ever since the Generation III remakes for the incompatible Generation IRed and Green games, Pokémon fans have widely speculated that remakes of the Generation II Pokémon games, Gold and Silver, would be made for Nintendo DS. Indeed, the paired remakes, titled HeartGold and SoulSilver, were eventually released in Japan on September 12, 2009, and were released in the United States on March 14, 2010. The games were referred to in the anime in an episode that featured the counterpart of the new player character and the three starter Pokémon of Johto, one of whom even joined the regular cast. A new expansion set for the TCG was also released to celebrate the new games.
Some manga series followed the release of the games, such as a new sequel to Pokémon Pocket Monsters, titled Pocket Monsters HGSS, of which the first volume was released in June 28, 2011. A new chapter of Pokémon Adventures was released, with the first volume coming out in June 28, 2012.
A new game for the Wii: PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure, was released on December 5, 2009. The game was released in North America and Europe in the spring of 2010.

Tamagotchi were digital keychain pets. They became incredibly popular with young children. If you raised your egg with love and care, it might turn into an adorable creature. Bandai decided that they didn’t like the primary function of raising a “baby” pet. They soon developed a similar toy called Digimon. These were toys that anyone could buy and take on-the-go. Unlike Pokémon, kids only had to buy a digital device for under $30. They didn’t need to buy a Game Boy handheld console plus the Pokémon game, which could equal over $100. Bandai made Digimon was more accessible to children, unlike Pokémon.

Seven’s A Lucky Number
The seventh generation of Pokémon was announced on February 27, 2016, the franchise’s 20th anniversary with the new games Pokémon Sun and Moon and was released on November 18, 2016.
The anime was quick to follow with a new series, Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. As with the previous four series, Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon began with Ash Ketchum, headed off to the new region with his Pikachu. His previous companions, Clemont, Bonnie and Serena, have left the series. Ash Ketchum heads off to a new region, Alola, wearing a new set of clothes with his partner Pikachu. He receives a Z-Ring and becomes a student at the Pokémon School on Melemele Island. Lillie, Kiawe, Mallow, Lana, and Sophocles joined him in the series as his classmates. For the first time in the anime’s history, Ash wins a game-original Pokémon League and becomes a Champion.
The seventh generation broke several trends within the core series, such as abandoning HM moves, replacing Gyms with island challenge trials, and introducing Legendary Pokémon part of an evolutionary line.
Ripped Off: Humans Are The Real Villains
In Pokémon, Ash and his friends befriend their loyal pets. To these good guys, Pokémon should be befriended and protected. Team Rocket thinks differently. Jessie and James want to kidnap Pikachu for their boss, Giovanni. This villain believes that Pokémon are to be used as soldiers instead of as pets.
Digimon’s villains are similar. In Season two, the Digimon Emperor uses Dark Rings to enslave creatures. He believes that not only should the Digital World be under his command, but also all Digimon. The Digimon Emperor forces his enslaved creatures to hurt the heroes.
