Star Wars: The Clone Wars Fills In Some Gaps From Previous Movies

Top 25 Things to Watch on Disney Plus

We can’t wait for “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” to finally air its much-anticipated final batch of episodes in 2020. This landmark series from Lucasfilm fills in the gaps of the Jedi’s epic battles during the Clone Wars that we wish the Star Wars prequels did.;

In fact, the show is so good, it makes up for how crappy the prequels turned out.

What To Anticipate From Star Wars: Visions

In addition to a couple of short summaries, Disney hasnt exposed excessive about private episodes.

But the trailer does offer us a couple of glances at renowned Star Wars material. Heres a short list of the ones that stick out, in addition to bits of details obtained from declarations and interviews:

  • It looks as though a Jedi or Force-delicate character will stop a blaster bolt in mid-air, like Kylo Ren carried out in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This was a remarkable usage of the Force that broadened on blaster deflection from earlier Star Wars movies. That might signify some basic engagement with the more recent movies.
  • Boba Fett and Jabba the Hutt will emerge in among the shorts. Fett and his popular ship Slave I can be quickly seen in the trailer.
  • We see what appears like the podracing arena on earth Tatooine from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. This is likely the place of the rock show or rock opera that will be included in Tatooine Rhapsody.

But aside from familiar Star Wars characters and settings, the series trailer reveals us what appear like completely brand-new characters and stories. But even with hugely various animation designs from the different studios, these stories all look clearly like they suit the Star Wars mythos.

Thats what we understand about Star Wars: Visions up until now.

You can inspect it out in September on Disney Plus.

    Where Does It Fit In The Star Wars Canon

    Disney Plus | CAN’T WATCH ANYTHING!!

    The Expanded Universe of Star Wars is huge. Includes the original movie trilogy, prequel and sequel trilogies, novels and comics, and video games.

    And the canon was further complicated when Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012. In 2014, the company formed a history group to oversee the development of the Star Wars films and other properties and to maintain a degree of consistency between the titles. That meant that many parts of the Expanded Universe were removed from the broader continuity, relabelled as Legends of Star Wars.

    The official canon approved by Disney now consists of the nine major feature films, some of The Clone Wars movies and series, and books and games produced primarily after the Disney acquisition.

    So where does Star Wars: Visions fit in?

    Star Wars canon can be tricky, and Disney doesnt give us any clear answers about Star Wars: Visions.

    According to executive producer James Waugh, the studios involved did not have to operate within the established Star Wars timeline or timeline. We really wanted to give these creators ample creative space to explore the full imaginative potential of the Star Wars galaxy through the unique lens of anime, he said at Anime Expo 2021.

    Who Are The Cast And Crew Of Star Wars: Visions

    There are seven studios confirmed to be working on the shorts: Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio , Studio Colorido , Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru and Production IG. All the scores are original, and the music for The Ninth Jedi is recorded at the Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall.;

    The series will be executively produced by Justin Leach, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Kanako Shirasaki and James Waugh. As these are anime shorts, voice acting will be order of the day when it comes to the cast – though no names have been confirmed yet.

    Weve seen other anime compendiums appear in recent years, with the Netflixs 2019 series Love, Death & Robots gathering a wide variety of stories and settings into an excellent 18-episode run that could be a template for Star Wars: Visions.

    Of course, the new series joins other animated offerings as well as live-action ones on Disney Plus. These include the aforementioned Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which follows a group of super-soldiers that made their debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, who now make their living as mercenaries that take on the assignments too dangerous or difficult for anyone else.

    Theres also more upcoming shows and films, including A Droid Story that will feature R2D2, C3PO and their new protégé, Rangers of the New Republic, plus the return of Mando in season 3 of The Mandalorian.

    In 2011, Disney sold the North American theatrical rights to the Studio Ghibli catalogue to New York based distributor GKIDS as they felt that they no longer needed them. GKIDS has re-released the films in cinemas a numerous amount of times throughout the years, mainly as part of Ghibli Film Festivals.

    In 2013, Disney declined to distribute Studio Ghiblis then recent film, From Up on Poppy Hill in North America and instead sold the film to GKIDS for distribution both theatrically and on home media. This was the first Studio Ghibli Movie since Princess Mononoke not to be released as a Disney product in the country. Disney however distributed The Wind Rises though their Touchstone Pictures Label, Which was the last Studio Ghibli film released through Disney in North America.

    Disney Plus: Everything Coming In September 2021

    Star Wars: Visions bring anime to one Disney’s most celebrated franchises.

    Star Wars: Visions will stream exclusively on Disney Plus Sept. 22.;

    What’s happening for Disney Plus in September? Quite a lot actually. Marvel’s compelling, What If… series continues, but the big drop this coming month is almost certainly Star Wars: Visions, a series of anime shorts focused on the Star Wars universe. Remember The Animatrix? It’s sort of like that but for Star Wars.

    There’ll be nine shorts in total, all from different anime studios across the world. Personally, I’ve felt like the Star Wars universe has been gathering cobwebs as of late. Hopefully this will bring some life to the franchise.

    Where Does It Suit Star Wars Canon

    The Star Wars Expanded Universe is enormous. It consists of the initial movie trilogy, the prequel and follow up trilogies, books and comics, and computer game.

    And canon got back at more made complex when Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012. In 2014, the business formed a story group to manage advancement of Star Wars movies and other residential or commercial properties and to keep a degree of consistency throughout titles. That suggested lots of parts of the Expanded Universe were eliminated from the more comprehensive connection, relabelled as Star Wars Legends.

    Official, Disney-authorized canon now includes the 9 highlight movies, a few of The Clone Wars movies and series, and books and video games produced primarily after the Disney acquisition.

    So, where does Star Wars: Visions fit in?

    Star Wars canon can be difficult, and Disney isnt providing us any clear responses about Star Wars: Visions.

    According to executive manufacturer James Waugh, the studios included did not have to run within developed Star Wars timelines or chronology.; We really wanted to give these creators a wide creative berth to explore all the imaginative potential of the Star Wars galaxy through the unique lens of anime, he stated at Anime Expo 2021.

    How Do They Keep Up

    STUDIO GHIBLI Anime Will Stream on HBO Max and NOT Disney Plus!

    Disney hasnt got the breath of anime that the likes of Netflix have. I dont think Disney needs its own mature anime series like Demon Slayer, Devilman Crybaby,Blood Of Zeus, etc.

    When Disney struggled with other genres, they have acquired companies. If they went this route, anime studio, Kyoto Animation would be a great choice. This studio has made several TV series and movies that hit around the TV14/PG13 age rating, which tackle various topics, including love, discrimination and friendship. Some notable titles which have in their catalogue include A Silent Voice, Munto and Liz and the Blue Bird.

    From my point of view, Disney shouldnt buy an anime studio. Though it could be a good idea just encase the Japanese government bring in local content quota like there is in Europe.; But there will almost certainly be legal issues for them trying to acquire an anime studio. I think they should acquire worldwide distribution rights of upcoming anime shows and movies, then bring them to Disney+ if theyre PG13 or under and Hulu/Star if rated higher. This would involve investing in more Japanese titles.

    The biggest upside of Disney acquiring an anime studio or an anime library is it gives Disney+ a larger selection of titles and more of a variety of what they offer as they move to take on Netflix globally. The biggest downside would be a potential legally ramification as well as a possible backlash from both the fans of the studio and the creators within the studio as well.

    The Seven Deadly Sins

    Netflix got a hold of this popular manga-based franchise and released the first seasons on the platform in 2015. It’s one of the better fantasy sagas on the service with its mythology around the Seven Deadly Sins, a group of knights with pretty infamous pasts, each one brandishing the tattoo of a different beast and embodying one of the… you know. In the 2014 anime series, which Netflix followed by dropping the film Prisoners of the Sky, a princess seeks out these warriors as the last hope of saving her kingdom from usurpers.

    What Does This Mean For My Other Streaming Services And Tv Habits

    Because Disney is reclaiming many of its titles for its own streaming services, many Disney titles on other services will likely disappear.

    Plus, the increase in streaming services this fall might also encourage more Canadians to cut the cord,;or cancel their traditional cable services in favour of internet-based streaming services.

    Fullmetal Alchemist And Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

    What movies does Disney+ have?

    Not quite as cerebral or surreal as other shows in this list, FMA is a tightly wound high-fantasy series that has garnered several generations of fans. A bit of explanation: Full Metal Alchemist takes a turn halfway through that changes the story vastly from the series source material, while Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a more strictly adhered-to adaptation of the original books. Most FMA acolytes think the latter is far superior, but both are excellent. Telling the story of Edward and Alphonse Elric, brothers who survived a traumatic magical accident now hoping to right their mistakes of the past the show explores themes of filial piety and the ramifications of global war.
