As per the official status, J.C. Staff has already canceled the Shokugeki no Soma anime ahead of its fifth season. Food Wars Shokugeki No Soma Manga Compared To The Anime: Lets Hope The Final Season Isnt Rushed
The story of Soma Yukihira, Erina Nakiri, and other characters is based on the Food Wars! manga series by writer Yuto Tsukuda and illustrator Shun Saeki. Started in 2012, the manga series is already up to Volume 35 as of June 3, 2019. Volume 36 contains the mangas ending in Chapter 316 and the final tankobon format book will ship out on October 4, 2019.
The English translation by VIZ Media is up to Volume 32 and Volume 33 is scheduled to release on December 3, 2019.
J.C. Staff aired the first two-cour season of the anime adaptation during the spring of 2015. The Second Plate was a shorter one-cour that aired a year later in 2016. The first half of the Third Plate finished in December 2017, whereas the second half found an ending in the middle of the Promotion Exams story arc.
The second cour of the third season was one of those rare anime where even fans of the manga believe the anime did a better job of presenting the story. Some chapters were skimmed or skipped, but the Regiment de Cuisine matches were reorganized so that concurrent events flowed better in comparison to the jumping around and flashbacks that occurred in the manga.

The Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Season 4 release date is scheduled for October 11, 2019. Crunchyroll will begin streaming the series on that day.
Although the production of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: Shin no Sara has been confirmed, the number of episodes has not been announced.
On November 25, 2019, the Fourth Plates official website finally listed a Blu-Ray/DVD page, officially confirming the known number of episodes. The box sets only list 12 episodes.
Releasing Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Season 4 during the fall 2019 anime season meant that the anime production scheduling was hectic. J.C. The third season of Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma anime television series, subtitled The Third Plate , was produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani. The series was first broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX. It aired from October 4, 2017 to June 25, 2018 with additional broadcasts on BS11 and Animax. In addition, AbemaTV streamed the season. The third season is broken into two parts. The first covers the Moon Festival when Soma Yukihira challenges Council of Ten Masters member Terunori Kuga to a challenge to see who can raise the most money during the three day event. At the end of the event, Erina Nakiri’s father, Azami Nakiri, appears and takes over the school. He institutes a series of reforms, including the establishment of a new ruling body called the Central Gourmet Institute, and the elimination of all independent groups within Totsuki, including Polaris Dorm. The second part continues with the promotional exams where everyone is guaranteed to pass if they stick to the curriculum and follow Central’s orders. However, Soma’s group is targeted for expulsion because of their successful defense of Polaris Dorm and a few other independent groups. At the end of the second part, Soma’s group of rebels challenges Azami’s group to a Shokugeki, attempting to overthrow Azami.

In 2011, Yto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki created the first incarnation of the Shokugeki no Soma series. Yto and Shun each made their own one-shot story sometime prior to 2011. The Shokugeki no Soma One-shot was the first work they collaborated on. The one-shot debuted in Akamaru Jump and the plot is very similar to the main series. It features Sma Yukihira and his main rival Erina Nakiri, the only characters from the one-shot to make it into the main series and the format of the chapter closely resembles the story later published in the main series.

Food Wars Creators Discuss Why They Ended The Series
After a long and popular run, fans were shocked to find that Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma was going to come to an end following the Noir arc of the series. Although the epilogue closed up fans of the leftover plot threads, fans were wondering that why the creative team of Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki decided that now was the best time to bring the series to an end. Speaking with ComicBook.com during Crunchyroll Expo 2019, series author Tsukuda revealed that he imagined the series would come to an end after the Regiments de Cuisine arc.
As Tsukuda explained, he wanted to end it after the Central arc as it brought the growth of many of the series’ characters to their natural conclusion, “I had been envisioning for a few years that the arc after Régiment du Cuisine would be the last. Because the main plots I wanted to deliver Somas mental growth, Megumis achievement of independence and Erinas development, and I successfully deliver those by the end of their battle with Azami.”
But he had doubts as to how to bring Soma and Erina’s romantic journey to its close, “The hardest to conclude story was Somas love affair. I asked myself so many times if this was OK, and rewrote the story again and again, then I finally satisfied with the ending which you can see in 315.3. Im not sure if I could gorge long-time Food Wars fans, but I would be very happy if they accept Soma and his friends’ answer.”
