Easy Anime Girl Drawing Ideas

I grew up drawing a lot of anime and manga-inspired character drawings so I decided to create a collection of easy anime female drawings for beginner artists to try drawing.

Drawing people in general can be complicated.

However, taking it one step at a time and practicing certain parts over and over can really help you improve your drawing skills.

Above all, I hope you have fun recreating these anime style drawings!

Art is after all an excellent way to take your mind off any stress or worries that you may have.

A friendly reminder to every artist: It is completely okay if your drawing doesnt turn out the way you want!

When I first starting drawing anime characters, they were all wonky and disproportionate in all kinds of ways. It took me years of practice to get to this point.

You too will get there with enough practice! Just enjoy the process and keep drawing!

The art you draw now is taking you one step closer to the art you will create in the future.

Drawing Anime Girl Hair Step

Although I do not clearly draw the line of the head like in this example every time, I do identify it in my mind when I draw. So here, in these examples, I identified the line in purple for you.

In this front view, the eye line will always be around the center of the vertical line between the chin and the to top the head. So if you measure, the space between the chin and the eyes, is roughly the same as between the eyes and the top of the head.

Here is the under-drawing sketch for this example. I used procreate and an iPad pro to draw the face on a separate layer. The face is used in all examples here since hair is the focus. For the hair, you can see that I am more focused on the overall shape of the hair and less worried about what the lines look like at this stage.

These lines are just a guide for the final line art in the next step.

In this step I drew over the underdrawing with more precision. It could use more refinement and some shading still but much of the indecisiveness of the sketchy lines of the underdrawing is now left in the past.

Lets look at more examples.

Drawing Cute Anime Face And Head

I started my character by thinking about what type of girl she would be. I settled on a girl wearing a school uniform. This is a super typical anime character outfit.

School uniforms already give that hint of cuteness to a character. Innocence if we may add, and this applies to anime world very heavily.

The next thing was to find a pose that would suit my idea of a cute anime girl. In classical anime art, hand facing forward or reaching out is a very typical pose to have. So I went with that.

So when I had settled with the pose, I began drawing the face and head.

Now, when we are drawing a cute anime girl, you have to think about what kind of facial expression you want to give to your anime character?

Sad, happy, longing, or something between? What is the facial expression suitable for your character?

I almost always start the face by drawing eyes first. When you are drawing cute eyes, remember that the eyes need to be drawn in a non-continuous way. Meaning that the eye-lids do not touch. This is not a rule, but a preference.

I also decided to draw a huge and wide-open mouth for my cute anime girl. I think it gives the character that joyful feeling, and truly emphasize that child-like happiness. Which I think gives that cute feeling for the character.

Start With A Simple Shirt

Easy anime drawing | how to draw anime girl wearing a mask easy step-by-step

Anime clothes drawing will vary depending on how youd like your character to be dressed. For beginners, a simple shirt design is the easiest starting point.;

Around the neck of your character, draw sloping lines downwards and around the neck, leaving a small gap in the middle, to create an open-collar shirt.;

Start with the shirt collar before working on the sleeves or details.

Along the arms, add a light line in the middle where the elbow crease would be, with two slightly curved lines around the wrists for the ends of the sleeves. From here, you can draw a line straight down from the open collar to the waist, leaving an upside down V shape at the bottom. Draw two lines from either side of the hips in to meet the bottom of the V shape to form the ends of the shirt. A few dots up the centerline will give you the buttons.

Buttons and crease lines help to make your clothing appear more realistic.

How To Draw An Anime Girl Body Step By Step Tutorial

In this tutorial you will find very detailed step by step illustrations and instructions on how to draw a female character in the anime and manga style.

Below is an explanation of how to draw an anime girl from the front and side views.

For drawing a female anime character in three quarter view you can see:

Draw The Back/top Of The Hair

Draw the back/top section also split down the middle. The hair should first stick slightly farther up from the head towards its very top, then get a little closer towards it near the upper end of the sides of the head. Finally it should again curve away from the head towards the middle/bottom of the head.

After you finish drawing the hair you can erase the parts of the head/and ears that are covered by it.

In case you are wondering why you needed to fully draw out the head and ears and not just start with the hair there are several reasons for this. One is that seeing the exact size of the head makes it easier to place the facial features . Another is that drawing in such a way helps to avoid many potential mistakes.

Space The Eyes Horizontally & Draw Their Basic Outlines

Easy Drawing Anime Girl at GetDrawings

When spacing the eyes horizontally you will want to leave about enough room between them that you can fit in another eye.

When actually drawing the eyes make them fairly narrow with relatively thick sets of top eyelashes.

At this stage you can simply outline the basic shape of the eyes without drawing all of the smaller details such as the eyelashes.

The goal is to first correctly place all the facial features.

Cute looking anime characters usually have bigger heads and foreheads with smaller chins.

For the front view start by drawing an oval for the top of the head and to that add the bottom half of the face. The bottom part of the face should narrows significantly as it goes down.

For the side view once again start with the oval of the top of the head an onto that draw the nose/jaw area. Leave out the details such as the lips for later steps.

At this stage simply estimate the placement of the nose for the side view .

Anime and manga are popular Japanese forms of animation and comics that have a very distinctive art style. If you want to draw your favorite character or design one on your own, start by designing their head and face so you can sketch what they look like. When you first start the head, draw the outline and the basic shapes so you can properly place the features. Once you add the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth, you can erase your guidelines and sketch in a hairstyle. With a bit of practice and patience, youll be able to design anime faces in no time!

Add The Eyes Nose And Mouth

Draw two half ovals on either side of the face with small, curved lines inside for the ears. Moving inside the face circle, in line with the ears, youll start working on the biggest featurethe eyes! Anime eyes drawing can seem complicated but remember to break it down into shapes to make it easier.

Start with two curved lines on each side with the gap between them being the width youd like the eyes to be. From here, draw in the curved lines of the eyeballs and a lighter curved line over the top for the eyebrows.

Add the eyes first, as these are the most important facial feature on anime characters.

Shade in a small circle at the top of the eyeballs to create the pupils, adding in a few short lines on the curved lines underneath for eyelashes.;

Along the center guideline, add a small V shape or two short lines for the nose. Most anime mouth drawing is a simple line in the bottom third of the face, so add this in to complete the features.

As you make progress on your drawing, dont forget to keep using your guidelines to help you.

Place And Draw The Eyes & Eyebrows

For a cuter look place the eyes even lower down than normal. Also make sure that you draw the eyes big and tall.

In this case we will actually place the eyes by first placing the eyebrows. To do this draw a horizontal line exactly through the middle of the head and draw the bottom of the eyebrows touching this line. Keep in mind that the eyes can move depending on the characters facial expression. This placement is for eyebrows in their natural position.

You can draw a hint of the eyelids directly on this line and the eyebrows slightly below that.

How To Draw A Beautiful Anime Girl Step By Step

This in depth tutorial explains how to draw a beautiful anime girl in 15 steps. In particular it looks at drawing the face of such a character from the front view.

As the title states the focus of this tutorial is on drawing a beautiful female anime character. In anime and manga these often have roles such as the pretty girl at school and may not necessarily be the protagonist. However drawing an anime girl to look beautiful is actually a bit of a challenge as most of them are drawn to be fairly cute by default. To help this tutorial gives a through guide on how to draw and position the head and facial features for a pretty girl character archetype.

Please note that if youve seen other similar tutorials here on AnimeOutline there may be a few overlapping or similar information. However this particular character does have slightly different proportions so read carefully.

Also note that while the proportions in this tutorial can help achieve the beautiful girl look, this is just one example and there are many more ways to draw such a character.

Overall the tutorial combines good drawing practices that can apply to art in general with tips on getting a particular anime/manga style look.

Drawing Clothing Accessories And Making The Girl Look Cute

Pin on Anime

As I drew an anime schoolgirl, I could have drawn a school bag or something, but I settled to drawing a ribbon, jacket, pockets, and buttons. Of course, a flowing skirt is something every anime schoolgirl needs.

I think buttons, and pockets create this easy-going feeling and something that creates interest for the character.

The more the viewer has to look at, the more interesting the image becomes. Though this is not always the case, I just like to think that the more details an image has, the more the viewer has the interest to study and look at the image.

I also added a hat for the character as I think hats bring that cute feeling to a character. Making them look sweet and joyful. First, the hat was too big . However, I decided to reduce the size of the hat a bit and make it more of a cool thing than something that dominates the image.
