Netflix’s Haunted: 10 Scariest Stories Ranked
With Netflix’s Haunted recently debuting its third season, we’re here to rank 10 of the most disturbing tales featured in the new series.
Season three of Netflix’s supernatural, quasi-documentary horror series Haunted debuted on May 14, 2021. Created by Jan Pavlacky, the new slate of six terrifying tales, which may or may not be true, features everything from frightening forests, creepy haunted houses, and accursed music boxes to wicked witchery, demonic animals, genetic psychosis, and the like.
Although the oral ghost-story anthology continues to be one of Netflix’s most popular titles, the streaming service has yet to announce whether or not the show will be renewed for season four. Until a decision is made one way or the other, here are the most unsettling stories on Haunted so far.
Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion
If you cross Game of Thrones Littlefinger and The Crows Eric Draven, you might get Lelouch vi Britannia: an intoxicatingly skilled political manipulator with mind-control powers who is on a mission of vengeance against his family, which rules the world. Code Geass has sci-fi combat, bureaucratic backstabbing, teen comedy, and a future in which imperialism and caste systems keep the populace underfoot. Like practically every revolutionary in history, Lelouch isnt particularly noble in his pursuit to overthrow the power of the family he is estranged from, but he is fascinating to watch.Watch it if you love:Cruel Intentions Shakespeares
Is Netflix’s Haunted A True Story
The first season of Netflix’s Haunted dropped in 2018, and now it is back for a third series.
The show IS based on true events and each episode tells a different story about a real account of someone’s supernatural experiences.
Stories covered in the previous seasons include a US marine who came face to face with a demon in Afghanistan, a boy who grew up convinced he had an evil figure named The Hangman stalking his family and a woman who kept hearing her roommates voices in her house – even when they weren’t there.
The new series will also be based on real life ghost stories.

Animax Gave Almost Full Creative Freedom To Adv Films
ADV Films the studio behind the dubs for popular shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Elfen Lied dubbed the failure that was Ghost Stories. Animax was so displeased by the performance of Ghost Stories in Japan that when they gave these rights, they placed almost no creative restrictions when it came to the dub.
They only had two guidelines when producing the dub. The names of the characters should remain the same, and the manner in which ghosts are defeated shouldn’t be tampered with. Aside from that, everything was fair game.
Audiences Hated The Dub When It Came Out
Of course, not all was sunshine and roses for the Ghost Stories dub when it came out. Most reactionary takes at the time vilified the show for featuring an odd dub that didn’t remain faithful to the source material at all.
It took a while for Ghost Stories to finally find its audience. However, it became a cult classic in the process, and a treat for any fan that wanted to watch a genuinely hilarious anime.

Worse: Ghost In The Shell Sac
Hired on as a military unit, the former members of the famed Japanese elite Section 9 find themselves up against a new threat. This comes from the sudden appearance of the “post-human”, a hyper-intelligent being with great physical capabilities.
The original Ghost in the Shell was a cult classic, tapping into the same post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk aesthetic of the iconic Akira. Even in the other renditions of the property, which almost needs a handy guide to navigate the various plot devices, none of them were further from the original than Ghost in the Shell SAC-2045.
Arguably any talking point on why the original is great is absent from the Netflix Original. It may appeal to a new fanbase on some level, but for those who grew up with the classic rendition, this is an abomination better forgotten.

Wanting To Incorporate The Infamous Mel Gibson Rant
The Ghost Stories dub was notorious for referencing various events of the time. It turned into an ode to American pop culture in 2004-05. However, people who watch this show will notice that one hilarious moment from this time period doesn’t appear in the show: the infamous Mel Gibson rant.
Greg Ayres the voice of a Jewish character in ADV Films’ interpretation of the show regretted the fact that the Mel Gibson rant happened after production was wrapped up for the dub. Otherwise, this rant would have been a major part of the show’s humor.

The Scariest Ghost Stories On Netflix
Perhaps more than any other genre, horror has a talent for dabbling in metaphor. In horror stories, monsters can represent some of our greatest immaterial fears not just real-life concerns like night stalkers and serial killers, but grief, loss, trauma, and death itself.
Arguably, no horror subject holds more metaphorical power than the ghost story. As spectral figures chained, by choice or by curse, to the waking world, ghosts can act as powerful and spine-tingling stand-ins for all manner of nightmarish possibilities. What ails you? Unfinished business? Posthumous rage,? Perhaps a trauma so potent you refuse to remain buried, six feet deep? The idea that there is life after death, and that it is defined by restless, pain-riddled entropy is terrifying. At least zombies look like they’re having a good time.
Below, we’ve assembled 14 of the scariest ghost stories currently streaming on Netflix. Some of them feature terrifying ghostly encounters of rattled spirits hellbent on revenge. In others, the ghosts, however terrifying, can’t hold a candle to their dastardly human peers. From haunted houses to haunted people, there’s no shortage of ooky spooky films theorizing about what goes bump in the night. So without further ado , here are some truly terrifying ghost films available for your streaming pleasure.
Where To Watch Ghost Stories English Dub Anime Stream Is It On Netflix Crunchyroll Hulu Or Funimation Answered
Ghost Stories English dub is available on Crunchyroll, Amazon Prime, and VRV.
“Which is bettersub or dub?” has been a long, ongoing debate within the anime community. While a couple of English dubs may be better than the original subs for some, it’s pretty much just an “each to their own” thing. But for Ghost Stories, which was released in 2000, the English dub of this title did a complete 180 on the vibe of this supernatural animeturning into a cult classic.
Ghost Stories, also known as Gakk no Kaidan, is an anime series based on a book of the same title by Tru Tsunemitsu. The story follows a couple of elementary school kidsSatsuki, Hajime, Leo, Momoko, and Satsuki’s younger brother Keiichiroand the paranormal encounters within their town. Alongside them is a demon named Amanojaku, sealed within Satsuki’s cat.
Unfortunately, the series flopped in Japan. In 2005, Animax approached ADV Films for a North American release. According to Greg Ayres in a Q& A video last 2007, they were only given three rules:
1. They couldn’t change the name of the characters. 2. They couldn’t change the names of the ghosts because they’re based on real Asian legends. 3. They couldn’t change how the ghost was killed.
Ghost Stories’ script contains things we don’t usually see in English dubs. A common question might be, “Wait, is this dub legit?” Surprisingly, yes. Yes, it is.

Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan
A spinoff of JoJos Bizarre Adventure, this is fully the show of Kisibe Rohan, a narcissistic manga artist and side character of that series, who in this show works as a sort of Nick Carrawayesque narrator of supernatural and violent self-contained stories, pulled from his globe-trotting endeavors. Despite its title, it has little connection to Nietzsche its original Japanese title apparently translates, loosely, to Rohan Kishibe does not change, a true enough statement.Watch it if you love:Wuthering Heights The Great Gatsby
Ghost Stories: Stream It Or Skip It
The Gist: Note, all segments are untitled. First is Akhtars, about Sameera , a nurse assigned to take care of an old woman who lives alone in her sprawling, crumbling apartment. The bedridden Mrs. Malik suffers from dementia, and a stroke left her partially paralyzed, so how much credence do you give to her mutterings about her son, who she says is home, even though theres no physical evidence of such? Sameera is a little freaked out, but shes preoccupied with drugging up poor Mrs. Malik so she can invite her boyfriend over for a little somethin-somethin. Will they ignore the omnipresent yucky smell and that weird dragging noise in the hallway, or is the mood like, totally ruined now?
Film No. 2 is Kashyaps. Neha is pregnant. She babysits young Ansh until his father finishes working, usually late. Her husband doesnt seem keen on the situation, but he tends to come home late, too. This leaves lots of time for Neha to exhibit signs that shes not all right in the noggin: She feeds a bird that lives in a hole in the attic ceiling she cuddles and feeds creepy baby dolls, as if practicing for the real thing she has HORRIBLY DISTURBING DREAMS that we cant be sure arent real. And why exactly is Ansh drawing cute pictures of Neha with dense black scribbles where the baby should be?
Performance Worth Watching: Dhulipala fully commits to the role of a soon-to-be mom uncertain of her child-rearing faculties. Shes good, and has the support of a strong screenplay.

Steven Foster Lit The Fire That Led To This Legendary Dub
The director of the dub, Steven Foster, was incredibly happy to hear about the nature of GhostStories‘ localization. Since his studio pretty much had free reign over the script, he decided to create something unique.
This eventually led him to direct one of the most unusual dubs of all time. For one thing, voice actors had a great deal of freedom when deciding on their own lines. Speaking of which…
