Anime Boy Standing Pose
Start by drawing three lines. They are going to separate the head, top, and bottom.
For the body parts, start with a circle and a triangle at the bottom.
For the torso: make a rectangle, followed by sausages for the arms. The shapes of the hands will depend on your desired form. Make the rectangle wider than what you did for the girls bodies.
Make another rectangle for the hips, and sausages for legs, followed by shapes for the feet.
Your sketch is finished. Now for the Lineart, try to follow all the main lines. Usually, the mans body doesnt have as many curved lines as the girls, but thats up to you.
After finished, erase your sketch. Add details such as bone structures and shadows for better results. Dont forget the details on the chest and belly parts.

Drawing Tablet Without A Screen
When I first started drawing digitally, I chose a tablet that didnt have a display/ drawing screen. My choice for the time was Wacom Bamboo. I drew with it a bit until I noticed that I didnt feel the disconnection of hand and eye.
When you dont have a screen, you have to look at the monitor while you are drawing to the tablet.
Currently, the best drawing tablet without a screen is the Intuos series by Wacom.

The Anatomy Of Anime Feet
Whew, that was intense! Luckily, feet are not as complex as hands. They’re built for stability, so they don’t change shape that much. But if you take a closer look at the bones, you’ll see the same ones as in the handwhich explains why in my language and in many others, the toes are simply called fingers.

Define Your Light Source And Add Shadows
When creating a base for my shadows I start by adding basic and delicate shading to my character, without defining any light source. This stage adds depth to flat colours and creates a strong base for the actual shadow.
To paint flat shadows I imagine my light source, then add a layer set to Multiply above the Color layers. Next, I paint a shadow with just one colour on this new layer. It’s usually greyish purple, but depending on what effect you want to achieve, you can use any colour.
I make my shadows glow by adding another layer above my earlier Multiply one and set it to Color Dodge. Now with a soft brush I paint the areas that I want to glow, using a colour that’s low on value and high on saturation.

Paint Realistic Manga Portraits
Just because anime and manga have simplified color and bold linework doesnt mean you cant change the style. Plenty of anime styles use more realistic designs.
This tutorial shows you how to start a loose sketch and move into adding swathes of color, all the while blending and keeping color harmony.
When trying to paint realistic versions of anime characters its best to use a picture as a reference. Maybe even grab a sleek anime art book of your favorite series and use that concept art as a reference.
Just pick out a character and get painting!
Save Time Using Clip Studio Paint’s Smart Bucket Tool
Before I knew Clip Studio Paint, I used to waste countless hours drawing flat layers manually. Luckily, you dont have to make that mistake! The software’s Smart Bucket tool is very good at recognising line-art and with one click I can fill in most of the areas. If you play with its settings it can identify lines that have gaps in them, or even textured lines. To make sure all the pixels in my character are selected, I colour the background first on a separate layer. Then I switch off the line-art and colour the reverse on another layer.

Drawing A Friendly Male Anime Character
The friendly guy is usually a positive supporting character such as the protagonists best friend.
A short and messy hair can be a good fit for the friendly guy as it can reinforce a down to earth and slightly carefree personality type.
For the friendly guys normal look draw the eyebrows in their natural state. Draw the eyes wider and make the irises and everything inside them larger than the base example at the start of the tutorial.
Give the mouth a light smile.
Larger eyes will make for a friendlier looking character and a light smile will further reinforce this look.
Put A Whole World Into The Eyes
I do believe that eyes are the window to the soul and I paint them with this in mind. I love painting eyes! It might actually be the eyes that made me fall in love with the manga style art. I endlessly experiment with how I paint them, using a variety of styles, shapes and colours. I often take inspiration from other artists as well, and mix their styles with mine. I wonder if you can see my inspirations in my drawings.

Drawing A Delinquent/thug Male Anime Character
The delinquent character tends to be a bully or a thug. Usually these are negative characters that give other characters in the anime or manga a hard time.
Spiky and messy hair along with a goatee can be a good fit for the delinquent.
For a tutorial on drawing anime facial hair see:
For the delinquents normal look draw the eyebrows in their natural position. Draw the eyes with the bottom eyelids curving much further down then normal and draw the pupils much smaller then normal. There should be a good amount of space between the irises and the bottom eyelids. You can also give a hint of bags under the eyes with a pair of small curved lines.
Finally draw the mouth in a fairly sharp upside down curve and draw the bottom lip in a similar manner.
This combination of facial feature adjustments will give the delinquent an unfriend, slightly crazy and dumb look.
Drawing A Daydreaming Shy Anime Character
