The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

Anime Review: When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

Lastly, as to come to a shock to all, another silly show.

Kyon used to believe in the supernatural but doesnt anymore. Until he meets Haruhi Suzumiya where she brought him back in the world of the paranormal, where Kyon is a club member. Then he and the other members get into some crazy adventures.

This is a perfect anime that people should watch right away, to see how great it really is.

Ground Control To Psychoelectric Girl

While his parents are overseas, Makoto Niwa excepts his fresh new start in a town where his aunt lives. Although things get a bit strange when he finally meets his cousin, who is a unique character. What Makoto thought he was going to have a normal life, is going to be anything but that.

A very silly show that is extremely light-hearted.

Chuuni Dreams When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace Spoiler Review

Youve seen the story before: All of a sudden, some high school students gain fabulous secret powers, giving them radically more agency. Really, this can be anything, from mechas to magical girls. It doesnt matter the point is that you have this setup where people who at least know each other and possibly are somewhat close are thrust into a new and more wonderful adventure.

What if they werent?

Thrust into an adventure, that is. What if a bunch of teenagers gained supernatural abilities but no world-threatening evil or really anything else to do with those abilities actually appeared, and the group had to just go about their lives, now with powers? As you might have guessed, youd get When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace.

Before I go any farther, Ill address what long-time readers are probably considering an elephant in the room given how often I call it out, but this is technically a Trigger anime. I say technically because, unlike most Trigger shows that are original concepts , When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace is adapted from a light novel. While they certainly picked one thats at least a little bit on the same wavelength as the stuff they do for themselves, this does mean that the studio still cant take all the credit or blame for the content, since they didnt create the characters or scenarios in play. For this reason, Ill probably not be saying anything more about them for the rest of this review.

What Superpowers Should Be At Play

Not to borrow too much from Charlottes playbook, but I think an explosive power along the lines of comedic spontaneous combustion as well as invisibility, limited or otherwise, would serve When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplaces type ofshenanigans well.

This writer also happens to be a big proponent of empathy and telepathy for their angst potential and overall versatility.

The show does a stellar job covering its bases in terms of keeping classic superpowers feeling fresh however, a hypothetical Season 2, like any adaptation, should take artistic liberties should doing so benefit the story being told.

Now a anime with a very long name either in English or in Japanese.

A boy by the name of Kagurazaka Kimito is kidnap and is at a school up in the mountains hidden from the rest of the world. The reasoning behind this is that he is needed for the young girls, who have no interaction with the real world and must be prepared, so they brought him there to help them out. Although, the reason why they took him is that they thought he was gay and if they find out the truth they could castration him, in order to protect the girls.

Can Kimito survive long enough and get back home safely?

This is a show that was a barrel full of laughs.

What Superpowers Are At Play

While western media is not without its own heroes, powers, and stories, corny and gritty alike, Ive always found the superpowers in anime a lot more unique.

Or at the very least, convoluted and oddly specific.

With that said, Jurais ability reallyreminded me of protagonist Natsuki Subarus shadow magic in Re:Zero while researching When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace.

In a twist of irony, chuunibyou Jurai is granted an ability that looks to be the most useless of the bunch. That is until Jurais palm-sized black flame called Dark and Dark manages to prove itself time and time again throughout the show via upgrades.

In contrast, the other four club members are given grandiose powers from the start.

The headstrong Tomoyo Kanzaki possesses the Closed Clock ability which allows her to control time at the risk of being unable to rewind it.

The gentle and polite Hatoko Kushikawa becomes a powerful Over Element user who can manipulate the five elements of Japanese philosophy with the fifth being light rather than pure energy.

The literature club president Sayumi Takanashi can restore objects and people to their previous states of being with the Root of Origin skill. This skill manifests as a means of healing injuries, reverting memories, and teleportation within the animes storyline, but is hinted at holding even greater range and power still.

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace Anime Review

Warning: this review does contain a few vague spoilers.

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace, also known as Inou Battle Within Everyday Life is a twelve-episode anime developed by Trigger based on the light novel by Kota Nozomi.

This series revolves around the Senk High School’s Literature Club after its five members are suddenly imbued with new magical powers. While this may sound interesting, sadly the anime doesn’t go any further than the character building stage of all five characters, their powers, and the world that they are now part of.

Here comes the bath!

The worst part is it feels more like a promotional series for the light novel than an anime based on Kota Nozomi’s story. If it would continue on, it might have become something great, but the way it ends makes it feel like the end of the anime. It was just getting good, too. It reminds me of a book series I used to read when I was young that was getting really good after the third book, but it never got finished after the author got ill and stopped writing. Instead of it ending because of something understandable, like an illness, it feels more like Trigger just decided to give it a quick ending because they didn’t really care about it. It makes it even worse that its format was open enough for the series up to provide entertaining stories for years if they wanted to.

Sadly, this was not commonplace in this series.

What Is When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

Jealousy (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace) E2 dub

The story follows a high school literature club whose five members inexplicably develop superpowers, the first subject being chuunibyou Jurai And.

The other four club members, Tomoyo, Hatoko, Sayumi, and honorary member Chifuyu, grow into their own unique abilities over the next six months. With the completion of our odd superhero squad, the series proceeds to explorelittle to no superhero-ing.

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplaces true nature as a slice-of-lifeanime becomes apparent by Episode 2, the show tackling a situation in which teenagers take random superpowers into stride rather than such a life-changing thing starting wars.

At least, thats how Jurais chunni dreams start. We get higher stakes later on, but theyre an exception, not the rule. No, this series is about learning about powers and living with powers.

In this writers opinion, the tone of When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace is most reminiscent of Angel Beats! and Clannad creator Jun Maedas Charlotte. The first half of Charlotte deals in lighter matters and portrays superpowers as common enough to warrant the characters using them in public.

I dare say, theres even a bit of Tappei Nagatsukis light novel Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World to the shows treatment of protagonist Jurai.

As is normal.

Though a love triangle isnt enough to stop novelist Kota Nozomi from introducing some seriously cool powers along the way.

Anime Like When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

When four members of the Literature Club, including a niece of a faculty adviser, they somehow have gotten supernatural powers. They all have different abilities such as manipulating time, controlling the five elements, and creating objects out of thin air. But, despite all of this, they are able to go into their normal lives.

What else could lie ahead for our characters?

While this may seem like some kind of supernatural action show, its really a romcom. It was really funny, the romance was nice, and it was simply a joy to watch. If you know me by now, I got the animes that are waiting for you to watch.

He may seem like a normal and handsome teenager, but Yuu Otosaka has a secret: the ability to control a persons body for five seconds. He’s been using his ability to cheat his way into a prestigious high school. When Nao Tomori catches Yuu using his powers, she forces him and his sister, Ayumi, into transferring to Hoshinoumi Academy, a school housing many students with special abilities like Yuu. The student council is tasked with finding adolescents who abuse their powers and keep them in check. Yuu is coerced into joining the student council by Tomori, and together, they face challenges that bring him closer to realizing how powerful his ability truly is.

Compared to Inou-Battle, this anime is more serious with a narrative that starts light and slowly becomes more significant as time progresses. Charlotte places heavy emphasis on its supernatural concepts due to its importance for the plot. The individual abilities are unique, with each having a handicap that limits their use. This creates many situations where use of their powers turns into a comedic moment. This anime does use comedy and light-hearted moments to brighten the mood and overall atmosphere of the plot, which is a nice welcome if you want to watch a different approach compared to Inou-Battle. The humor puts a smile on your face as you watch these characters learn more about their abilities, the world around them, and the struggles they face.

In a school where you can summon magical creatures of any like, we get to follow Akihisa Yoshii and the other ranked F students in their everyday lives. As they prove to the higher ranking students that there are more than what they appear to be, even if they will probably lose in the end.
