Draw The Smaller Details Of Each Hand & Finish The Handshake Drawing
For this step you can add the smaller details of the hands such as the fingernails and wrinkles. Draw some hints of the bones around the base of the fingers on the front hand as well.
You can also add some curves around the finger joints of the foreground hand where they bend to wrap around the background hand. These will help show the bends.
In anime, manga and comic book style hands the fingernails may not be drawn at all. Drawing the fingernails does however make the hand look better and can also help show the angle of the bend of each finger. For example you can see that the fingernail on the index finger is drawn much narrower then the rest. This helps indicate that its pointing more towards the viewer instead of more towards the side like the other fingers.
When you finish adding all of the details go over your drawing with darker lines. You can make the lines slightly thicker for the larger parts of the hand and thinner for the smaller details.

The fingers are the long, thin things on either side. Fingers have three bones in them called phalanges and fingernails or toenails at their tips. Digits is another word for “fingers.” Palm refers to the underside of your hand that faces outwards when you clasp it.
Then you have the palm of your hand, and the outside side is called the back. The knuckles are where the finger bones meet up with other fingers or parts of your own hand.
The thumb has a special joint that we can use to help us pick things up and hold them tightly without having our hands open too wide. It also acts as the top joint for the other four fingers.
A hand is a very complicated thing to draw and it’s one of those things that you have to spend some time looking at before you can do it on your own! Drawing anime hands are fun, so I hope this tutorial will help make drawing them easier.

Highlighting anatomical landmarks and sometimes exaggerating them in your hand drawings will help create expressive and believable drawings.
When you are looking at a painting of an old master or a modern-day artist you really like, where anatomical landmarks seem to have been subdued and, on the surface, it may appear as though there are a bunch of straight lines creating very straight fingers barely indicating the knuckles or most masses of the palm. When you see this, know that this is only what seems to appear on the surface. Because if you are looking at a great and believable drawing of hands there is no doubt that anatomical landmarks are properly indicated, just very subtly and in a way that could be impossible to detect to an untrained eye.
