Now You Can Add Some Final Details

You have pretty much finished the clothes portion of your drawing, and in this step of our guide on how to draw anime clothes we will draw the person wearing them.
We drew a simple head with some jagged lines for the hair over the face. Then, we drew some feet clad in sandals to finish it off. This is the way that we chose to finish off this drawing, but you can also put your own spin on it if you wish!
You could change the details of the face, and perhaps make it look like your favorite anime character. Or you could take it even further and design your own unique character! Once you have finished the design of the character, you could also create a background for the drawing.
Once again, you could use your favorite anime as inspiration and recreate your favorite anime scene. You could also create a unique setting to show where this character is standing.

Paint Realistic Manga Portraits
Just because anime and manga have simplified color and bold linework doesnt mean you cant change the style. Plenty of anime styles use more realistic designs.
This tutorial shows you how to start a loose sketch and move into adding swathes of color, all the while blending and keeping color harmony.
When trying to paint realistic versions of anime characters its best to use a picture as a reference. Maybe even grab a sleek anime art book of your favorite series and use that concept art as a reference.
Just pick out a character and get painting!
Draw With Reference Material
Getting everything right in the first few attempts is pretty rare. Its better to start with reference material. Sometimes what you think is best may not really work the same way in reality. If you are drawing a historical character, then start by researching other, similar characters. Study their personalities, statures, colors, and how their faces are drawn to show the types of characters they are.
You can also follow specific manga artists and should definitely check other peoples work, especially when you are a beginner. Most famous artists have distinguished approaches, You can also look at photographs or take inspiration from real-life objects, animals, and human beings. An example in the image above is Yuno from the anime Black Clover . Yuno is serious, handsome, and sophisticated. He also has the power of the wind. All these attributes are clearly identifiable in this drawing.

- What kind of culture the character has?
- What is the environment the character is living in?

- What is the age of your character?
- What about the personality or things he/she likes to do?
- What is the overall feeling or emotion the character should evoke? Anger, cuteness, joy, sadness?
- Clothes tell a lot about the character, as does pose and hair.
- Facial expression can support the characters personality but doesnt have to the determining factor
The above few bullet-points are the ones that I would think when drawing anime characters. Ive drawn quite a few and have to say its one of the best things to draw.;

How To Draw Anime Characters Tutorial
Anime has a very distinguishable style. When drawing anime, there are a few rules to follow. Most importantly, the exaggerated features:
- Eyes. The eyes are always large and take up almost half of the characters face. Whats more, they usually contain black circles in the middle with coloured outside rings. The colours can also be exaggerated, some eyes, for example, can be purple.
- Hair. The anime hair is usually in a very strange, unnatural shape. The characters hairstyles are always exaggerated and, once again, the colours can vastly vary.
- Facial expressions. Facial expressions are conveyed in an interesting way. For example, teardrops in the eyes is a sign of embarrassment. Facial expressions are strongly exaggerated, making the characters very expressive.

Start By Drawing The Basic Shapes
Drawing anime characters is fascinating and looks pretty hardbut, interestingly, all your favorite characters are born out of basic shapes like circles, squares, triangles, and so on.
Start by improving your basic drawing. Practice simple figures like straight lines, circles, rectangles, ovals, and other similar shapes. This sounds boring , but everyone who draws has started from this “baby” stage, so why should it be any different for you? To build complex structures, you need to first master simplicity. This will help you improve your drawing and your creative vision.
Try drawing these basic shapes for a few minutes daily. Then, draw anything that fits your imagination. You can try combining these basic shapes to make real-life figures; for example, you can use squares or rectangles of different sizes to build basic human anatomy. One such example is given in step 3 below.

Highlights From At Least 2 Light Sources
White or bright circles or ovals appearing in stylized anime eyes are representative of highlights on the surface of the eye.
Note here that usually one highlight is dominant and is depicted larger, and the second subordinate and depicted smaller.;Neither appear as a bounce light or reflective light, rather, each is a highlight representative of another light source nearby.;
Adoption rate: in many examples in anime. There are also many examples where only one highlight appears, or where a light is cast from multiple sources and many highlights appear.;
If you are confused about terms describing how light interacts with a surface, or need a refresher on terms like bounce light or highlight,;follow this link to an article I wrote on this topic, glossary of often-confusing art terms is at the bottom of that article).;
The chart below indicates how in many examples, the smaller highlight is directly across the surface of the iris from the larger highlight, in some cases, it is placed across and down the surface of the iris.

Degrees Of Realism And Stylization
In anime and manga, eyes are drawn in various degrees of stylization. Human anatomy in anime is stylized often to the point of being unrealistic, yet still very recognizable as the anime counterpart of the real world person the artwork is describing.;
This is an important point. This means that if we are to draw anime, we must observe what we see in the world and put it through a stylizer machine before we output it on canvas as a more anime version of what we saw. Fortunately, we all have a stylizer machine called the brain!
In anime, there is a spectrum of on one end, very large anime looking eyes, and some on the other end, that are pretty realistic with some stylization flare. I tend to like something in the middle, although a lot depends on the artwork itself.;
You can use this guide to draw eyes and stylize to your own comfort. Check out the image right below, anime eyes drawn on the left are more stylized and the ones toward the right are more realistic.;
In anime, as we move away from realism, the shape of the eye is larger and more round, and the iris itself is drawn larger as well. More realistic anime eye drawings closer follow real human anatomy, with eye shape less rounded, although still styled.;
With that said, here are seven common elements present in most anime drawings of eyes.;
