For viewers who enjoy fast-paced comedy full of constant punchlines, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K is the perfect show. The series is about a high school boy named Aikawa Ayuma who one day is killed by a serial killer and then suddenly revived as a zombie.

A necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe is the one who brings him back and has Ayuma serving as a personal guard for her. At the same time, he prevents Eu from her masou-shoujo magic power, which leaves her with no choice but to have Ayuma fighting against the anti-masou-shoujo system in her stay.

The main conflict and source of humor comes from the fact that this beautiful young woman and all her friends are absolutely insane or straight up yokai, which are Japanese folk fae creatures, and that Kou is the heir to a major Japanese company. The animation, colors, and storyline are top-notch, and if you are interested in Japanese folk and surreal humor, it will be right up your alley.

Whats it about: Olivia, Hanako, and Kasumi are friends in their second year at a girls-only academy. The seemingly sweet and lively trio establishes the Pastimes Club, a simple hangout where they can play different games and do whatever they want. However, it doesnt take long for the club activities to bring out the worst in the girls.

What makes it good:Asobi Asobase wants you to think youre watching a feel-good slice-of-life laced with moe cuteness before pulling the rug out from under you. There are no cute girls doing cute things or life-changing friendships in this seinen, but there is plenty of dark comedy at the expense of bratty main characters. Lerche Studio production is pure laughter gas with surreal lunacy, twisted schemes, and power struggles galore. Middle schoolers are scary.
