Who Are Manga Artists Or Professionals

Anime Drawing | How To Draw Anime Girl Crying step-by-step !

Manga professionals not only specialize in drawing, but use these drawings as a way to tell stories that have influenced many people around the world.

It is for this reason that people try to learn how to draw and recreate the characters that are shown in their favorite anime.

Whether you make drawings as a form of entertainment or as a profession, drawing an anime character can be very complex if you try to recreate a character from the manga, since such designs are made by professionals in the field.

Then, it is best to start drawing following a series of steps.

The most complex drawings require a lot of effort and concentration, but they can be simplified if you know the proper techniques to draw with the Japanese style.

So, this guide is designed to help you start in the drawing of the anime, for which the design of a girl will be done from the most general design to the last detail.

The drawing of girls in the anime is usually very aesthetic and cute, always trying to make all the characters of this genre have unique characteristics that differentiate them from the rest.

But before starting make sure you have the right materials to make the drawing, that is to say, special pencils for this task, small drafts and any other instrument you consider necessary.

Drawing An Anime School Girl

  • 1Make an outline of the anime girl using stick figures and shapes. First, sketch a circle for the head. Add an angled shape on the lower part of the circle for the chin and jaw. Use a short line for the neck. Connect a curved line from the neck down to where the pelvis would be located. Draw a four-pointed shape for the thorax and attach more lines for the limbs. Use a triangle as guide for the hands.
  • 2Use the stick figure as guide. Draw the girl’s body and add shape to the drawing. Take note of the proportions and where joints are located. Add a crossed line to the face and thorax to help you determine accurate positioning of body parts later.
  • 3Sketch the eyes. Position it, or, more conventionally them, with the help of the crossed line as an outline. Add small curved strokes for the eyebrows. Sketch an angle for the nose and a small curved line for the lips.
  • 4Design a hairstyle for your anime character. Here in this illustration, it is a simple style that can be achieved by sketching slanted and curved strokes. You can also add a bow or a pin or any accessory on the hair for design.
  • 5Choose a design for the characterâs outfit. School uniforms are a common choice. A simple blazer and pleated skirt would be nice.
  • 6Refine details and erase unnecessary lines.
  • 7Color your drawing. You might want to make it neutral colors, so they look good, not so they clash. The choice is yours though, team orange and purple if you like. It’s your drawing.
  • Drawing Anime Mouth Profile View Anime Mouth From The Side

Now lets take a look at drawing anime mouths from the profile view or the side view. This is why perspective is so important in drawing complex forms from different views, precisely because the mouth looks very different in profile than it does in the three-quarters view or front view.

Scroll through some of the examples below to get a feel for drawing the side view.

Notice again how the tongue is represented in the example above. Like a small part of a ball peaking out from under the cheek into our view.

In the example above, notice also how the upper teeth are more visible than the lower when the mouth is open. Note that divisions between the teeth are rarely drawn, if at all. A simple white stripe is in place to represent a row of teeth.

In the example right above, we see more of the lower lip than the upper lip. Specifically, we see the top plane of the lower lip, helping us place the viewpoint from which we are observing the scene. It is clear that the characters head is below our viewpoint. This is so because if it was above us, we would see the bottom plane of a top lip instead.

Notice that almost in all instances, the upper lip hangs over the lower lip, and the lower lip is set back compared to the upper lip.

This means that paying careful attention to the design of the linescreating the opening of the mouth, is going to be important in your ability to define expressions when drawing anime mouths.

Drawing The Nose Mouth And Ears

The drawing of these parts of the face is very simple in the style of the anime, so that almost not notice if the character is seen in front.

Then, to draw the nose you should look for a midpoint between the highest horizontal line and the end of the chin, so that it is as proportional as possible.

The line of the nose is a vertical line that is placed a little more moved to the right and represents the smallest characteristic of the face of your character.

The position of the mouth is defined by you and its drawing is as simple as the nose, since it should only be a simple and subtle line.

You should not even draw the characters lip, since this is not a common feature of the anime.

On the other hand, the drawing of the ears will depend on the hairstyle that you intend to give to the character, but that will be discussed in the next step.

In case the ears are visible you should draw them at the height of the eyes, making a small oval whose size matches the horizontal lines drawn at the beginning of the process. Later you can place the internal details.

Drawing Tearing Up Anime & Manga Eyes

    How to Draw Anime Tears

When you are drawing an anime character that is staring to cry draw the eyes squinted. Draw the bottom eyelashes/eyelids curved inwards and slightly lowered towards the outer part of the eye. Draw the top eyelashes/eyelids less curved than normal and also slightly lowered towards the outer part of the eye. Draw the eyebrows in a slight upside down curve with the inner part of the eyebrows raised and the outer part lowered.

Finally draw small tear drops at the tear ducts towards the inner parts of the eyes.

How To Draw A Cute Anime Girl Step By Step

This step by step tutorial shows how to draw a cute anime girl with an explanation of proportions that make a female character look cute as well as illustrated examples.

Anime characters are usually drawn cute by default but you can tweak the proportions and positioning of the facial features in certain ways to make a character look more cute even by anime standards.

It should also be noted that by making a character look cuter you will also usually automatically make them look younger. Though sometimes even adult characters are still drawn this way.

Drawing Anime Mouths Screaming Angry Or Exerting Effort

Many expressions of the mouth in anime are often interchangeable with others. As an example, above are screaming and angry drawings of a mouth as well at mouths showing exertion. It is often hard to pinpoint the expression exactly without other cues or other facial features for context. While this could seem confusing, it actually works well for the artist.

We only need to learn so many expressions to be able to draw them all. Learn to draw the ones above and you can then draw an anime character expressing anger, or one exerting physical force. You will notice, however, that the difference between those two expressions is likely to be shown in other facial features.

There are some similarities we need to be aware of.

Notice how the majority of these have rounded corners and a line indicating a break between the teeth.

Notice also that the line indicating the separation of the upper and lower teeth is zig-zagged. This type of line indicates some overlap of the jaw when the teeth are clenched together.

Anime Drawing | How to Draw a Sad Anime Girl Face step-by-step!

There are certain instances that show up very often in anime and manga, where the character is speaking, or smiling or showing distaste in a situation, and the characters mouth is half-open. A similar drawing of a mouth is used in all of these varying situations.

In these instances, artists can show lots of emotion through the corners of the mouth, but no teeth are visible at all.

In the above examples, the dip created by the area between the lower lip and the chin is indicated by a single mark. If you place your index finger on your lower lip, and slide it down slowly to your chin, halfway through you will notice that your finger moves inward before moving outward towards the end of the chin. This dip in anatomy is represented here with one mark.

Try to study from the examples below, and try to identify what kind of character this expression could belong to. Can you draw in the rest of the face of the character just by looking at the mouth drawing? This could be a good exercise in invention of facial features.

In the example above, lets identify the tilt of the head and location of the mouth. In the example on the right, we can see that the head is tilted slightly to the left. We can infer this just from the drawing of the mouth.

It also appears that indication mark for the dip above the chin is more prevalent in male than female anime characters. The male faces seem to be represented to be more angular, providing the mark indicating the dip shows a change in the plane.

Loss, death, unrequited love, and betrayal are popular themes, especially in series aimed at adults rather than children. As such, sad characters such as the one in this drawing guide are a staple in many anime.

Crying Eyes With Up Tears Animes

For drawing crying anime eyes, we need to draw a proper shape of crying eyes first of all. Crying eyes are those which had tears in them, and tears are coming down word the eyes. While drawing crying or manga eyes, it is vital to draw full headfirst because full-face represents our drawn anime eyes best, friendly, and proper way.

Placing crying eyes on a face in the best style is considered an exciting art of representing your expression. In crying anime, eyes tears flow down to face. For drawing this, we should keep eyes right below the line of the head.

When we need to draw crying eyes, it is necessary to draw eyes uniquely and adequately first. After drawing eyes, we start work on their eyelids and eyelashes from the bottom of the eye towards its outer corner. We draw it in a curved shape on the outer part of the eye, but at the same time, we will draw its upper eyelid or eyelashes less or slightly little curved style than the standard size of the eye. It must be drawn lower side of the outer eye.

After working on eyelids or eyelashes, we should have to draw the eyebrows or cry anime eyes. The eyebrows should be drawn in such style its upper side must have a down curve while the inner part of the eyebrow should be raised, but the outer part of the eye should have been shaped toward the lower side or edge of the eye.

After drawing this proper shape of the eye, draw a few drops of small tears in the inner side of the eye coming towards the down word of the face.

    The Birth Of The Manga

    Eye Crying Drawing at GetDrawings

One of the most representative things in Japanese culture is Manga, which is the most popular form of graphic art in Japan and has transcended the whole world.

Through the manga, the Japanese are in charge of telling stories, both real and fantastic, that have a striking and very attractive design.

The Manga later transcended to another form of storytelling, going from being only simple comic to being a completely animated drawing.

This is when Anime was born, which is the abbreviation that the Japanese use for the word animation.

For other parts of the world this word refers, apart from animation, to the style of drawing found in a Japanese manga.

How To Draw Anime Mouths Final Thoughts

We went over many drawings of many anime lips and mouths. We also discussed how understanding the expression you want to draw is important to drawing anime mouths. We also talked about understanding perspective, angles at which you are drawing, and also understanding the different planes of the lips you have to know the shape of something before you can draw it convincingly.

Drawing facial features, especially the mouth is difficult. My advice is to draw many from good reference. Draw many, then take a pause and try to analyze various repeating elements from one drawing to another, similar to how we analyzed elements of each drawing in this tutorial.

After you complete a round of reflecting on what you have drawn already, get back to drawing more samples from reference with new found knowledge.

Repeating this practice will vastly improve your drawings of anime lips and mouths over time. It will also help significantly if you continue the practice of drawing daily. Something like drawing anime mouths and lips is best learned by producing a large volume of drawing. Make hundreds of drawings and you will see improvement.

    Position & Draw The Ears

Position the ears with their tops slightly below the top of the eyes and their bottoms slightly below the bottom of the nose. For this particular character the ears will be drawn slightly smaller and slightly lower down than is recommended for other character types here on AnimeOutline.

For the other placement example as well as more information on drawing ears see:

In this case most of the ears will be covered by the hair so there is not much need for drawing their inner details.
