How To Draw Anime Hime Hairstyle

The hime hairstyle is usually used to depict royalty and prestige, hence the name hime meaning princess.

The hairstyle consists of straight even bangs, with the side pieces being cut straight at an angle and the hair being voluminous. This hairstyle is symmetrical.

Step 1

Make a drawing of the base. The base consists of the head, the shoulders that the hair will rest on, the body and face is optional. Indicate the hairline on the forehead.

A good general rule is that the hairline will take up one-fourth of the heads total height . Additionally, most hairlines should be a curved line across the forehead that gradually swoops over the earline.

Step 2

Draw the hair that goes over the forehead. For this hairstyle, it is straight bangs. These bangs are very sharp, so make sure that the corners are crisp and imply harshly cut hair. Make sure that the bangs are symmetrical and rest on top of the forehead without covering the eyes.

The bangs of a Hime haircut usually go barely past the eyebrows. The bangs width should be resting on top of the eyebrow arches.

Step 3

Draw the hair at the sides of the head, near the ears. These side pieces frame the face and create the illusion of a slimmer oval face. The hime haircut is notable for having shorter side pieces than the rest of the hair and angled toward the face at the bottom of its cut.

The side bangs of a hime hair cut are usually thick and short, but exceptions can be made according to your character.

Within these clumps, add a few additional lines representing strands and areas where the hair naturally parts or falls. Once things look begin looking how you like, go over what youve just drawn with fine, darker lines and erase any other marks that dont belong. After some shading and color, your hair should look complete.

  • Drawing Anime Hands A Step

    Orange Floral Print Lightweight Scarf

The glove/mitten method stems from the fact that most of us can better imagine and draw a glove or a mitten than a detailed anime hand.

You dont have to worry about drawing in fingers. With this method, you only worry about the general shapes. Controlling general shapes is basis for all good drawing. That is to say, every great drawing starts with the artist having full control of the general shape of what they are drawing.

Start drawing anime hands with a simple boxy shape of a glove or a mitten. With this type of simplification fingers are indicated with one rectangular shape, then the simplified form is drawn over with more detail and by adding divisions of the fingers.

Above is a good example of how the glove/mitten method works.

When you draw the simplified form, think about the general shape of the hand, its proportions, the general gesture. Worry about the details on the second pass.

Above is an example of a very simplified form drawn for the fist. Note that, although the fingers twist down, I was able to draw that in later.

It was easier to draw because the general shape and perspective of the drawing was resolved in the simplified and boxy under-drawing on the left.

Note that all of the drawings of anime hands I made for the tutorial start with the general shape of the palm.

    Below are two more examples.

Understanding Basic Hand Anatomy To Draw Anime Hands

I published a very detailed tutorial that covers drawing and anatomy of the hand. This tutorial can be found at the following link.

Below, lets cover the very basics we need to understand about the structure of the hand for anime and manga drawing.

The metacarpals create the palm of the hand, fingers stem from these bones.

Phalanges are the bones of the fingers, notice how each finger has three joints one at the knuckle one in the middle and one closer to the tip.

Notice also that the thumb has only two phalanges. The third joint is at the metacarpals back at the wrist area. This will become important when you draw the thumb, as it will have only two visible joints compared to the three for the fingers.

Sharp, angular, choppy lines with plenty of asymmetries bring this look together. The asymmetric fringe may have gained traction with the emo movement but has been around in anime well before that. The edgy nature of peeping out from between swathes of hair appeals to fans of anime, as it is a trait often shared with their favorite characters.

Drawing An Anime Girl In Swimwear

  • 1Make an outline of the anime girl using stick figures and shapes. First, sketch a circle for the head. Add an angled shape on the lower part of the circle for the chin and jaw. Use a line for the neck down to where the pelvis would be located. Draw an inverted dome shape for the thorax and attach more lines to the limbs. You can use a triangle as a guide for the hands.
  • 2Using the stick figure as a guide, add shape to the drawing. Take note of the proportions and where joints are located. Add a crossed line on the face and thorax to help you determine accurate positioning of body parts later. Since this character will be wearing a swimwear, indicate where the breasts are located using two teardrop shapes. Add a small slanted stroke for the navel.
  • 3Sketch the eyes. Position it with the help of the crossed line as an outline. Add small curved strokes for the eyebrows. Sketch an angle for the nose and two small curved line for the lips to make the character looks like she is smiling.
  • 4Design a hairstyle for your anime character. You can use curved strokes to make the hair look wavy or make the hair limp, as if it were wet. Add a C shape on each side for the ears, peeking a little from the thick hair of your anime girl.
  • 5Darken the outline of the body. Choose a design for the characterâs swimwear. A two-piece is a simple and common choice.
  • 6Refine details. Erase unnecessary lines.
  • 7Color your masterpiece.

    How To Draw Anime Pigtails

The pigtails hairstyle is usually used to depict youthfulness and innocence. This can also imply that a character is childish and immature. Many tsunderes possess this hairstyle, although not all characters with pigtails are tsunderes.

For this hairstyle, you can use any type of bangs or pulled-back hair. In this example, I used the classic triple bang, with a long piece in the middle. Make the bangs curve and rest on the forehead to show volume.

    Step 3

Draw the hair at the sides of the head, near the ears. These side pieces frame the face and create the illusion of fuller cheeks and a more youthful face.

    Step 4

Draw the hair at the back of the head. Pigtails are two ponytails on both sides of the head. You can make them wider or narrower according to how thick the hair is supposed to be.

Additionally, you can adjust how high or low the pigtails are and how far apart they are from each other. Pigtails usually swoop outwards because of volume, but thin pigtails can swoop inwards.

How To Draw Banner Step By Step With Pictures

    anime bangs

You can clearly see that the rough shape of the banner is in our hands now. All we have to do is to give it a final touch by adding some extra drawings and messages to the banner.

    • Lastly, we will be putting final important inputs in completing this drawing so as to make it look a little 3D. That we can do by drawing shading around the drawing as shown in the image. Since we want to keep the banner as a simple form of line art, therefore we can mark the message in our own handwriting with smart letters.

We would suggest to shade ribbon fold triangles with vertical lines as shown and adding towards the edges of the banner, add some horizontal lines too this will give a tense folded look to the banner. Smart, yeah?

Do give notice that in the middle, lines are comparatively shorter and longer at the top and bottom.

With this, after adding the suitable message in the middle of a bigger rectangular box, this banner drawing is complete. You can always fill it with colors and make it look catchier and more attractive. We really hope that you enjoyed drawing with us.

This was a simple rectangular-shaped banner. Similarly, you can draw a wave-shaped banner as well. Just follow a similar step as given on another page.

Create The Basic Structure Of The Face

First, you will create the general composition of the characters face. While artists have varying preferences about how to structure an anime characters head and face, they all start with the same basic principle: First draw a circle, and then draw a horizontal line and vertical line directly through the center of the circle.

Generally, you will draw the eyes on or just below the horizontal line and the mouth at the bottom of the circle, with the nose placed between the eyes and the mouth. The chin will extend down below the circle.

Rindou Kobayashi With Deep Red Hair

If a character has hair this deep red color you can almost guarantee theyre going to have a dark and dangerous side. If thats something youd like to allude to then this color is a pretty popular one to dye hair.

Something about the depth of the red enhancing natural tones has made it so, but anime has picked up on the cultural connotations of the color and exploited it to demonstrate characters personalities.
