Drawing Specifics Of This Tutorial
For the more generic/common styles of anime and manga the bodies tend to be drawn similar to those of real people. This is how the examples in this tutorial will be drawn as well. The only real difference is a slightly larger and rounder head .
This means drawing as follows:
- Head similar in shape to an egg
- Hands drawn with fingers combined into one shape
- Feet drawn as one combined shape
Though its quite common to start the drawing of a person from the head the examples in this tutorial will start with the torso. In more dynamic poses getting its bend and/or twist first can make it much easier to place the rest of the body parts.
Another important thing you should do is draw light lines that you can easily erase . This will make corrections easier in case you make a mistake and it will also let you more easily erase parts of the mannequin if you want to add all of the details mentioned earlier over top of it. The lines in the examples have been made dark just so that they are easier to see.
Tips For Drawing Clothing
- play around with colors when you are choosing the clothes for your character
- be creative and see what you can come up to
- start with more casual clothes when you do them, they are a bit easier to draw
- dont focus on getting them perfect, relax and draw the shape from your imagination
- dont a dark pencil because you will need to erase a lot in your first drawings
- if you draw t-shirts or slacks, they have a smooth texture and in order to get it is by keeping the line quality consistent and smooth
- sheer clothes can be colored easily if you dull the color underneath the sheer portion so you trick the eye
- if you want to get a fuzzy look to create small flicks of a pen that follows a controlled shape
- check what other artists do with their clothing drawings, you might get inspired by something and try to add it to your own style
- draw using real models, this is helpful because you can even take pictures with yourself and start practicing

Drawing An Anime Leather Jacket
To draw an anime style leather jacket on the body start by drawing its overall shape and major features such as where the zipper line and collar.
Leather is fairly rigid and even a tight jacket will somewhat conceal the shape of the body. The shoulder areas where the sleeves are stitched to the jacket will stick out be pointy while the chest area will be squeezed in. Draw accordingly.

Add The Eyes Nose And Mouth
Draw two half ovals on either side of the face with small, curved lines inside for the ears. Moving inside the face circle, in line with the ears, youll start working on the biggest featurethe eyes! Anime eyes drawing can seem complicated but remember to break it down into shapes to make it easier.
Start with two curved lines on each side with the gap between them being the width youd like the eyes to be. From here, draw in the curved lines of the eyeballs and a lighter curved line over the top for the eyebrows.
Add the eyes first, as these are the most important facial feature on anime characters.
Shade in a small circle at the top of the eyeballs to create the pupils, adding in a few short lines on the curved lines underneath for eyelashes.;
Along the center guideline, add a small V shape or two short lines for the nose. Most anime mouth drawing is a simple line in the bottom third of the face, so add this in to complete the features.
