How To Draw A Basic Frill
The first step is to draw a wavy line, not too sharp, with soft edges. This is the most important line: its the base for any kind of frill! Then, we need to draw the external part of the fabrics fold and mark where the seam is. After that, were almost done! To make them look prettier and more realistic, we need to sketch a few folds in the flattest parts to mimic real fabric.
This is the basis for every ruche, pleat, or gather, and you can apply the very same steps to frills as well. You might make them smaller to decorate lapels or blouses, or bigger for skirts.The best part of this element is that it can be part of the dress or be a simple decoration for clothes you think of as too plain. Its all a matter of the ruches or the frills size!

How To Color Anime Clothes
Here are my best tips on how to color anime clothes:
- The transparent fabric should be colored lightly and so that the light shines through the fabric. Keep the shadows light and transparent.
- The heavy fabric should have strong and dark shadows
- A rubber texture should have clear light spots and a strong contrast between dark and light.
- Change the darkness of the shading according to the material of the clothing
- No color restrictions, use any color you like, just make sure it complements the personality of the character
In my example drawing, the character is elegant, maybe even royalty, so the coloring has to match that personality but also the design of the outfit.

How To Draw Anime & Manga Mouths Tutorial
This tutorial shows how to draw an anime mouth from the front, 3/4 and side views. A total of three variations with multiple examples for each.

Add The Eyes Nose And Mouth
Draw two half ovals on either side of the face with small, curved lines inside for the ears. Moving inside the face circle, in line with the ears, youll start working on the biggest featurethe eyes! Anime eyes drawing can seem complicated but remember to break it down into shapes to make it easier.
Start with two curved lines on each side with the gap between them being the width youd like the eyes to be. From here, draw in the curved lines of the eyeballs and a lighter curved line over the top for the eyebrows.
Add the eyes first, as these are the most important facial feature on anime characters.
Shade in a small circle at the top of the eyeballs to create the pupils, adding in a few short lines on the curved lines underneath for eyelashes.
Along the center guideline, add a small V shape or two short lines for the nose. Most anime mouth drawing is a simple line in the bottom third of the face, so add this in to complete the features.
As you make progress on your drawing, dont forget to keep using your guidelines to help you.

Start With A Simple Sketch
On this layer, you can start to sketch out a very rough idea of what clothing youd like to draw on your character. This walk through features a simple top, skirt, boots, and accessories, but you will find ideas for other garments further down. Start with drawing very simple shapes, well add details afterwards.
Begin Creating Your Refined Sketch
When youre happy with your basic sketches, you will need to Create a New Layer above and call this new layer “sketch2”. Next, lower the Opacity of your base and initial sketch layers so you can start to add your neater second sketch. The process for this is described in my previous tutorial, Creating a Vector Anime Character in Adobe Photoshop Part 1: Sketch and Line Art.

Add Further Shading To The Boots
Once you have finished shading the laces, you can continue on to shading the rest of the boots, and move forward to shading the rest of the clothing in the same method as above. Common Mistakes Young Anime Artists Make
When you start out drawing manga there are a few pitfalls and lazy tricks that almost everyone is guilty of doing.
If youre starting out then learn what they are and how to avoid them. These mistakes are so common then nearly every great anime artist was guilty of doing at least one of them when they were learning!
Remember: Youre still gaining knowledge and growing. Its not about the end product you create, but rather what you learned in the process.

Begin Creating Your Vector Line Art
You are now ready to begin the vector line art, as explained in my previous tutorial, linked in Step 9. Remember to add holes in the boots for the laces, but dont add the line art for the laces themselves, well work on those in the coloring stages. To begin the line art, Create a New Group Folder and name it “lines.”
