How To Draw Spiky Anime Hair Male

EASIEST WAY TO DRAW ANIME HAIR (DIFFERENT STYLES)

This is arguably the most popular hairstyle that Anime/Manga protagonists have. A few of the Anime characters that have this hairstyle are Naruto Uzumaki , Ichigo Kurosaki , NatsuDragneel , and Izuku Midoriya .

Step 1:

Start by creating a guideline for the front hairline. Draw a curve to connect the hairline to approximately one-fourth of the way down the ear line.

Step 2:

Create clumps of hair along with the guideline. Vary the sizes and direction of the curves.

Step 3:

To frame the face, create longer hair clumps for the side of the hair. Curve these hair clumps towards the face.

Step 4:

To draw the top of the hair, follow the guidelines and create hair clumps flaring upward and outward.

Step 5:

Create more of these hair clumps until it reaches approximately between the ear and the neck.

Step 6:

Add a few hair clumps around the hair randomly. Make sure youre still following the curves of the hair strands around the hairline. Finish the drawing and erase the guidelines.

How To Draw Anime Girl Hair

  • First, youll need to sketch the head, since you cant have hair without a head. Draw the head in the shape of an inverted egg because it needs to be narrow at the bottom. You can add some ears as well.
  • Next, youll need to draw the hairline. The hairline will guide you when youre drawing the front and side sections of the hair.
  • Measure 1/5th of the height of the head and draw an arch from one side of the head to the other. Make sure you follow the curvature of the head as you draw.

    Style And Types Of Hair

First of all, let’s consider the style and the shape of the hair you want to shade. How it is? Curly or straight? Short or long? These questions are important to define the volume and the lightness of the hair. Ask your hairdresser: you’ll know that the lighter the hair is, the more it stays curly and fluffy. If the hair is long and heavy it smoothes, ect.

Finalize The Hair And Make It Look Awesome

The last phase of drawing hair is to make the hair support the character and make the character lively. Specifically, in anime, the hair is extremely important. That is also the reason why I always make an effort to draw an awesome hair for the character. You shouldnt deviate from that.

Put effort into the hair and it will make your character feel and look so much better. In the last phase of drawing hair, I sharpen the details. Look that the overall shape is looking good.

I check that the hair supports the character and also gives the feeling I was after. Down to earth, chilled, calm and overall just gentle. You should make sure that the details are correctly placed and make sense. Adding details everywhere does not help.

Create details wisely and efficiently. Only place them in spots that add interest to the drawing.

    How to draw

Whether this translates particularly world to the real world counterparts is uncertain long hair takes time to grow and lots of effort to maintain.

How Do You Choose The Right Color

Short answer, there is no right color! Play around with them until you find what you like: try pink on blue, purple on green, orange on yellow and so on. Have fun! I wonder how not to make black and white hair look gray, purple, etc.

Using colors similar to the drawing environment will make the tone look correct. For example, if her shirt was red, I would add more shades of red to her hair. I usually use colors already in the drawing and play with them. Like that hair in a bluish-red room: theres a little bit of every color in it.

However, if youre working with complex hair like a rainbow or gradient, you can use Multiply Blend mode to overlay a new layer and test which colors work best without affecting the gradient.

Rindou Kobayashi With Deep Red Hair

If a character has hair this deep red color you can almost guarantee theyre going to have a dark and dangerous side. If thats something youd like to allude to then this color is a pretty popular one to dye hair.

Something about the depth of the red enhancing natural tones has made it so, but anime has picked up on the cultural connotations of the color and exploited it to demonstrate characters personalities.

How To Draw Anime Hair Step By Step

Anime characters are extremely popular not only among children but also with teenagers. Many people enjoy the looks that are designed for anime characters and wish to make their own version of these characters at home. These characters can be made with ease but the most difficult part is drawing the hair. You must look at the minute details when you give a shape to your character. You can draw the hair by following a set of easy steps and can give your respective character the desired look.Things Required:

Draw The Sides Of The Combed Hair

To not make the hair look too neat you can draw the sides slightly messy as in the above example. If you do want a neater look you can draw them more like the hair in the medium length example.

Generally the fewer clumps you draw and the more they point in the same direction the neater the hair or part of the hair will look. Drawing more clumps pointing in different directions will generally create a messier look.

Drawing Anime Pony Tail /tied Back Hair

Another fairly common anime hairstyle is the ponytail. You will notice that there is basically no side hair in this particular example . So the hair can pretty much just be splits into the front and back sections. The back consisting of the hair over the top of the head and the pony tail.

Draw this type of hair as follows:

Draw The Front Of The Combed Hair

    Pin on Sisters!!

The front portion of the hair will be the section that shows that it has been combed. Position it some distance below the hairline as the hair will need some length to be combed like this. Draw the front hair in medium sized clumps that are all sort of swept to one side. At the same time try and draw each individual clump pointing in a slightly different direction so that the hair looks more natural.

E Tutorial: How I Color / Paint My Hair

    I. Tools: I use a basic Gouache brush of Clip Studio Paint for all the sketch, fill based color and shading, painting. I just pick it and use, and I don’t change any settings of this brush.

II. Step by StepNow I will take you through my progress to painting hair, the way that I usually do in most of my artwork. I hope I can explain how I do it clearly enough for you to understand it easily.

1: SketchLike I said before, at the beginning, we should never drawing hair without drawing the skull first. I decided this character is a gentle, girly girl so I am thinking about a long, curly and an ombre color hair.Using the tips in section C, I make sure that all the direction, the width and the length of all the hair locks are not the same.

    2. Based color:I create a layer under the sketch layer and give it a flat based color. And then I use and add more color to make the hair more value.

    3. ShadingCreate a new layer. Choose and mode to shade the hair.Decide the dark part and give it a shade, you can use 1 or 2 or even 3 color to paint it. But remember, less is more. Begin with the big part, and then separate it into the little one.

    Crazy And Wild Colors

Anime hair colors dont always have to mean anything. After all, what kind of statement can one possibly make with blue, yellow or purple hair colors? Their roles lie elsewhere. Bright, vibrant, unconventional hair colors make the characters easy to identify.

If you know about color psychology, youll know how we associate different emotions with different colors. For example, red is a color of intense passion and fury. Having your hair colored red will instantly give away a vibe that you are passionate, bold and not afraid to show your crazy side.

Similarly, blue often represents mystery as well as playfulness.

Purple hair could mean you think out-of-the-box and you are not at all afraid to experiment. Bold, crazy and sassy!

If you are a fan of more realistic fantasy hairstyles then simply go for black or brown. You can never go wrong with these two.

Pro tip: For a more outstanding effect, contrast two highlighted colors.

As can be expected the front section of this hairstyle will be very large and long. You can think of the entire thing as being split into two main sets of clumps with one being smaller and one much larger . You can draw the split in these starting from around the top of the head.

Draw the clumps on the covered side generally larger and going down slightly farther than those on the open side of the face.

F Quick Tips: Choosing Color Wisely

For me, I always choose the color in the green square. It is the “safe area” for me, not too vivid, and not too monotonic. Like I said before, if we use too much vivid color, the hair will look unreal, it looks like a wig. But if we just use one single color, it will be too boring. My way in choosing color is never use one color, I use 2 or 3 color which is placed near by in the color wheel, and in one color, I will pick different saturations in a Z line, like this:

C Quick Tips: Making Your Hair Drawing Looks Naturally

How to Shade Anime Hair Step by Step

To make your hair drawing looks naturally, please remember 3 things:1, The direction of the hair locks.2, The width of the hair locks.3. The length of the hair locks. These three things SHOULD NOT be the SAME.The more variety you draw, the more natural it gets. But there is a thing, the length can be an exception. Some hairstyle have the same length for all hair locks. And in this situation, you should try to draw more and more different width and direction for them.In the example, the one on the left has the same length, width and direction, that make it looks rigid and boring while the one on the right has the width too narrow, that make the hair looks tangled, and it does not have the softness that the hair should have.

Drawing Your Anime Hair To Completion

Of course, ultimately the last thing is to color the hair and call it done. I would say that the most important thing here is to think about the volume of the hair. Create shadows that support the volume of the hair. As the hair that I drew was rather chunky, the shadow also had to be quite thick. Do think about the volume of the hair when shading.

I surely hope you liked the step-by-step guide on how to draw hair. Hair definitely is not the easiest one to draw but hopefully, you found some new tips & tricks for yourself.

I usually speak from the perspective of cel shading. These tips, however, can be applied to any style in my opinion. Drawing hair is fun, even though sometimes challenging. Anime deserves some cool hair.

    Choose Between Main Hair Shapes

After you have created a few major shapes and feel like you just want to move forward. Think about the end result you want to achieve with the hair. Think about the personality of the character and also the personality of the hair. Yes, hair does have personality. It tells something from the person and also gives opinions. Good and bad. Hopefully good opinions.

I could have chosen a more flowy hairstyle with a lot more volume. However, the character is this easy-going and like to have a slightly shorter yet huge volume hair. The character is also more down to earth type. I think in this case the more flowy hair would have made the character a bit more. Well not so down to earth type.

Maybe a bit outgoing party kind of girl. Or this adventurous type of. Shorter hair gave me the flow I was aiming for.

Bob With Pointed Bangs By Serval

Whether the pointed bangs are part of the overall animal look that is often seen in anime or a style in their own right is up for debate. This isnt a style that is often seen in the real world but it would be simple enough to achieve. Often bangs are pointed to one side but could just as easily meet a point between the eyebrows to achieve this niche, cartoon-like look.
