Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 1 Spoilers
In season 1, after his ex-warrior, father Thors, is murdered by Askeladd, Thorfinn joins his arch-rival and his forces of rampaging Vikings consumed by vengeance. Despite his weakness, the young protagonist continues to challenge the leader of the mercenary band of Vikings, only to get humiliated by him every time on the battlefield. Over time it becomes increasingly clear that Thorfinn can barely take on Askeladd and, in their last encounter, gets brutally beaten by the experienced fighter who is aware of all his weaknesses.
In the Season finale, Askeladd tries to convince King Sweyn in the imperial council that invading the mountainous country of Wales, which barely has any resources, is a poor strategic move. Upon listening to his arguments, the King forces the leader of rampaging Vikings to pick one between Wales or Canute, an offer that does not go well with Askeladd, who instead beheads Sweyn and claims to be Lucius Artorius Castus, a legitimate heir to the throne of Britannia.
However, upon realizing his opportunity to stake his claim at King Sweyns position, Canute murders Askeladd with a stab to his heart. Thorfinn only reaches the imperial council to watch him die in his arms and quickly attacks Canute with a knife but gets caught by the soldiers and is dragged away. Season 1 ends on a cliffhanger with Thorfinns fate unknown to the viewers.

Is There A Vinland Saga Season 2
In March 2021, series character designer, Abiru Takahiko, hinted through a tweet that he was working on Vinland Saga Season 2. He tweeted:
Have continued to involve in the production of “Attack on Titan.” And I will also participate in “The Ancient Magus Bride” as one of the Studio KAFKA staff. But there is another work that I have to do the most. My most important work, you know. I plow fields again today.
This most important work is a clear reference to the portion of Vinland Saga set on a farm, which wasnt covered in the first season.
Well, the makers and studio are tight-lipped about the second season. As far as I understand, season two is already in production. I am expecting an official announcement pretty soon. Expect Vinland Saga season 2 to arrive in late 2021 or early 2022.
The original manga was written by Makoto Yukimura, who launched it in 2005 in Weekly Shonen Magazine and later switched to the Afternoon magazine. So far, 24 volumes have been published in Japan.

Its a story of badasses, literally! Mature men taking revenge for their old dads? Like what could be more attractive than that, huh? We need REAL MEN like them!
Anyways, as the story proceeds, it lets us know about Thorfinn and hissad past. His father was murdered by none other than Askeladd. Therefore, he had to take revenge! He was labeled as the son of the murdered ex-warrior. The story combines the dramatization of King Canute the Greats historical rise to power. We have seen a lot of samurai and knights in the anime market but we rarely see the blood-thirsty Vikings who actually enjoy killing their enemies. That went dark real quick.
Along with such an excellent revenge-centered storyline, the animation is AWESOME too! And there might not be many or any filler episodes in Vinland Saga but we do know for sure that its a good thing and now well be able to enjoy a lot more of it!
