Why Do We Watch Anime

Number 1 Your Favorite Anime That Didnt Make This List

Why We Don’t Watch Anime Anymore

this is a list of every anime that every fan needs to watch, and the fact that your personal favorite anime didnt make this list is an absolute travesty. It doesnt matter that everyone might not have seen the anime yet, or they dont think its as great as you do. Its impossible to make a list that matches everyones taste. Your anime should have been here.

What Parents Need To Be Aware Of When It Comes To Anime Porn

Hentai is a Japanese word that translated into English means “perverse” sexual desire. It’s porn that comes in cartoons, anime, or Manga format, and it’s one of the most popular kinds of porn for Millenials, young adults, and children. According to one porn site’s analytics detailing the most popular search terms on its site, Japanese shot up 4 positions to become the most searched term of 2019.Hentai remained the second most popular term.

Needless to say, this is a trend that is likely to stick as Hentai porn attracts both young and old. Old in the sense that long-time porn users often need more stimulating material and different types of porn for arousal and intensity as they have hit a certain level of tolerance.

In a Cosmopolitan Magazine Interview with Dr. Leon Seltzer, a psychologist and fellow Psychology Today blogger who has watched this emerging trend, believes the rise in popularity is due to unlimited sexual fantasies available through this format. “The erotic illusions possible are freed from all the normal constraints of reality. can heighten the illusion that our libido has now landed in the most idyllic place possible.”

Young children who are accidentally exposed to Hentai are extremely vulnerable because their brains are not able to discern the boundary violations that are occurring when seeing these images, as Hentai sexualizes everything from incest to rape to bestiality.

Theyre Immersed In Vivid Colors Regularly

Many anime shows have distinctive art styles that incorporate colors in beautiful and vibrant ways. Being exposed to all of these colors regularly can positively impact your mood, or maybe even help you pay attention to the vibrant colors around you in your daily life.

True, not all anime have bright, vibrant colors. Some anime are meant to be dark and depressing. But regardless of what exactly the color scheme of a show is, you can count of the fact that it will suck you into whatever world of colors its artists chose to rely on.

The Work That Goes Into Subbing And Dubbing

A more important discussion that often gets overlooked, is the hard work that goes behind subtitling and dubbing anime series.

To dig deeper on this, I asked Ariel Sanders and Pal Hollywood, they are both professionals and anime fans and they kindly shared their take on this topic with me.

Heres what they had to say:

What I can say, having studied film, is that using subtitles is definitely a lot easier to do from a post-production standpoint and in some cases can be more aesthetically pleasing or stylistically correct .

The added benefit of subtitles is that they dont detract from the original emotional tone or emphasis that the actor used during the original take. This is imperative for visual media as the sound, level and tone of persons voice does a lot to indicate their emotions at the time of delivery.

In some cases, such as with anime, there are just some things that sound better in Japanese or simply cannot be said in English unless theyre described in length hence most of the lengthy monologues that are found in anime. Phrases like Yugen and Shouganai dont have English translations and would have to be explained in full for them to make sense to an English speaker.

However, some may find subtitles to be hassle and would rather spend their time watching the show than reading every line of dialogue simultaneously. In this case, a dub is probably the best option for you as you can appreciate the visual and audio aspects of the series comfortably.

At Minimum You Have To Watch The Anime Series

The movie, directed by Haruo Sotozaki, picks up from the Season 1 finale of the TV show. The series lays a great deal of groundwork, introducing the franchises plethora of characters and story arcs that lead up to the movie, where our protagonist, Tanjiro, and his teammates are on a mission to defeat a demon that has been eating people on a train.

The 26 episodes of Season 1 are available dubbed or subtitled on streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll and Funimation.

If you dont have time to binge-watch the show, there are more options. You could read the manga, which is the source material for the anime, . Read through Chapter 53 and youll be caught up.

Theres also a three-episode recap of Season 1 available on Funimation. And if you are starving for time, plenty of YouTubers have posted videos recapping Season 1 in a few minutes.

Because Not Every Dub Is High Quality

WHY do we watch anime?? | | The reasoning and the lessons!!!

Bodacious Space Pirates is an example of this, even if slightly.

The dub is great itself, but in some parts of the anime the dubbing is off. Meaning: theres a time lag between what they say and what happens on-screen.

Other times fans may dislike the voice actors/actresses because they dont match the characters.

Or their emotions arent portrayed to a certain standard.

Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma

It doesnt take long to realize that Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma is strangely sexual. After eating any dish, the characters have sudden erotic responses that often include bursting free from their clothes for no reason. But dont let the foodgasms deter you from this delightful coming-of-age story, which features some of the most stunning cooking animation and mouth-watering food imagery in anime. Soma Yukihira is a talented teenage cook who long dreamed of running his fathers diner one day, but is suddenly sent to a cutthroat culinary academy where students regularly face expulsion for mediocracy. Unfazed, Soma sets out to become the top of the school. Most characters have a unique cooking identitywhether its a specialty in a cultural cuisine or a distinct approach to food adding immense range to a thoroughly enjoyable show.

Complications Face While Watching Anime

  • Licensing This is a big factor in the anime industry as stated above. If FUNimation, Crunchyroll, and other legal platforms do not get licensing rights to a particular anime show, their subscribed members might switch to Hulu or Netflix subscriptions. Worst, the members might stream illegal anime sites online this is the reason why legal subscribers are dwindling in membership.
  • Censorship This is another factor to consider when watching animes legally or watching shows via subscriptions. Illegal anime sites cut content to censor lewd anime scenes in some countries. Meanwhile, legal anime sites reduces or removes censorship altogether and provides uncut versions of the anime videos. After all, they have paying members so, might as well give them the whole package unedited clips, English-translated opening and ending songs updated translations on English subtitles, etc.

V Introduction To New Cultures

Anime is a central form of entertainment in Japan, and it introduces the international population to an entirely different culture. While it starts with the children wanting to learn Japanese to watch anime without subtitles, it soon transforms into a genuine love for the language.

Not only does it connect the children to a world across seas, but they also grow up with a more open mindset and acceptance of others and themselves. It helps them learn about new things and see life from a fresh perspective.

Anime also introduces people to so many different forms of entertainment, not limited to Japan. The OSTs present in anime have allowed people to discover Korean bands and dramas, and simply put, broadened their view of the world.

Does Crunchyroll Have Dubbed Anime

Crunchyroll offers dubbed and subbed versions of anime series and movies as well as episodes of Asian dramas.

Dubbed means a show has been given an English language audio track while subbed means that the show has its original language audio and has been given English subtitles.

Not every series and movie has dubbed and subbed options. For example, Demon Slayer, Vinland Saga, The Rising of the Shield Hero, Fruits Basket, Black Fox, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Kenja no Mago, Nande Koko ni Sensei Ga, Dr Stone, Dororo, Kimitsu no Yaiba, Sword Art Online, Naruto, Boruto, and Bleach are all available to watch on Crunchyroll but only some of these series have both an English dub and sub option while others may only be available with subtitles and their original Japanese audio.

Typically, newer shows are added to Crunchyroll with English subtitles and are updated at a later date with an English audio option once the dub production has been completed.

Watching Weekly: Audiences Have Time To Reflect On Each Episode

Why Do We Watch Anime?

While those who binge-watch their anime may have fresh emotions going into each episode, they are not forced to stop and reflect on what takes place during each episode. Plenty of anime requires time to process both the emotions and the meaning behind its story.

Not every anime needs this time to be reflected on, but there are series that have a more significant emotional impact if approached in this drawn-out format.

Number 11 The Nostalgic Shows You Watched As A Kid

Were you a nineties kid who grew up with Pokemon a Dragonball Z? Does old-school Toonami bring nothing but happy memories to you? Maybe you came a bit later, when Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece were getting popular? Either way, these are the shows that will always be close to you, no matter what anyone else says. You dont even know if they were as great as you remember, but thats ok. You were a dumb, naive kid back then and you had bad taste, but at least you can reflect on it now that youre older and wiser.

Why Do People Like Anime

There are so many misconceptions about anime. Some people believe anime is meant for children. Some people think anime is pornographic. Some people think every anime is exactly like Pokemon. And none of that is the truth.

Anime is for all ages and can fall under the category of comedy, drama, adventure, or action. There is something for everyone.

So why do people like anime? The list goes on and on.

I Love How Relatable The Characters Are

Why We Watch [Anime]

And this isnt about gender either. Because none of that matters.

Madoka Magica is a classic example. Homura Akemi is a relatable character and I have so much in common with who she is as a person.

And then you have characters like Rin Okumura. Whos fearful of revealing his secret, has few people who accept and understand him, and of course hes a rebel .

Ive watched films and TV shows, but none of them compare to anime for how relatable the characters are.

Which is weird since characters are fictional and made up down to the last hairs on their head.

The thing I love about anime is its NOT just pure entertainment, its also inspirational. It makes you want to do something in your life.

It gives you reasons to become more than you are, and make something of yourself.

The anime image above is a horror series . Not the kind of show you think of in terms of inspiration, but inspiration is everywhere if you look.

Another has great quotes like:

Not giving up on yourself is whats truly important. That way you dont end up pathetic. Reiko Mikami

The animated experience just makes this unlike anything else Ive seen.

Stunning Animation And Backgrounds

A lot of anime series and movies are visually stunning. Studio Ghibli films such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are great examples of amazing quality animation and character designs with background artwork that could be framed and hung in an art gallery. Indeed many animation cells, backgrounds, and production designs are, in fact, well respected by artists and gallery curators and its quite common to see touring art exhibits featuring anime artwork exclusively.

Fanservice To The Extreme

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM1gxpCoU0U

Like a disgusting, smelly Santa, Fanservice just keeps giving everyone its gifts, whether they want it or not. Entire series are dedicated to being fantasy fuel. The harem genrehas gotten popular solely by telling the exact story over and over again. Average Guy meets Cute Girls. Girls love Guy. Guy gets in awkward situation with Girl, gets caught by other Girls. Hijinks. Its a story manufactured only for viewers to insert themselves into the fantasy, and dream about being adored by women.

Everywhere you look in anime these days, you see the bane of Moe. Moe is a term that refers to characters that are specifically designed to be overly cute. Massive eyes, thin limbs, and big, bouncy hair are just a few of the traits that Moe characters usually have. These girls are usually underage, and put into some type of inadvertently sexual situation for the benefit of the audiences private time. While this fanservice isnt explicitly sexual , the scenes come off as voyeuristic and depraved. These moe-blobs seep into everything, and stain anime as a whole.

Between all the pointless, unsubtle fanservice, and the saturation of an almost fetishized aesthetic, anime comes off as softcore porn to new viewers.
