Fate/stay Night: Heavens Feel Movies

Gilgamesh Trailer (anime).

Characters: Shirou Emiya, Sakura Matou, Saber, Rin Tohsaka, Taiga Fujimura, Zouken Matou, Kirei Kotomine, Issei Ryudou, Kiritsugu Emiya, Rider, Gilgamesh

The Heavens Feel film trilogy covers the infamous final route from the Fate/Stay Night visual novel. This Fate route is possibly the darkest version of the Fate/Stay Night story and the movies capture that tone with a stronger and flashier animation .

The first film in the trilogy, titled Presage Flower, premiered in Japan on October 14, 2017. The second film, titled Lost Butterfly, premiered on January 12, 2019. The third and final film in the trilogy, titled Spring Song, premiered on August 15, 2020.

Heavens Feel might be the most difficult one to watch as a newbie because youll be confused by the story without the context of some other entries. Prior to watching this, its best you check out some of the other films or series to get to grips with some of the lore.

But, for the experienced fans, this might be the best Fate anime youve ever seen.

Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya

Illyasviel von Einzbern is a typical Japanese schoolgirl. She lives with her overachieving elder brother Shirou Emiya and her two maids, her parents are always away, and she has fantastical fantasies of utilizing magic to make her dreams of love with Shirou come true. Enter bitter rivals Rin Tohsaka and Luviagelita Edelfelt, two Magi dispatched to Japan by Zelretch the Wizard Marshall, Master of Parallel Worlds, to collect the mysterious Class Cards and clean up their mess.

After tiring of their continuous bickering, one Kaleidostick, Magical Ruby, detects Illyas brief fantasy of magic and abandons Rin for her, duping her into becoming a magical girl. Illya is now being coerced by Rin into collecting the perilous Class Cards in her stead. Perhaps more perilous are Illyas secrets, which may have drawn Ruby to her unwittingly.

After a series of fights, Illya and Miyu gathered all Cards and became friends, while Rin and Luvia stayed in Japan on Zelretchs orders. Kuro, a dark-skinned female who has an uncanny likeness to Illya, suddenly complicates their lives by attempting to kill Illya.

Fate Anime Series & Movies Watch Order

Nothing turns off anime viewers more than a lengthy series with a perplexing viewing order. The Fate series is one of those animes that may leave you perplexed as to the sequence in which you should watch it. However, it is just too wonderful to overlook!

Weve created the definitive guide to help you watch the Fate series without getting lost. Therefore, keep on reading as I unveil to you the best Fate anime watch order.

Don’t Miss: How To Start A Anime Series

Fate/stay Night: Heaven’s Feel I To Iii

Again, as with Fate/stay night and UBW, the Heaven’s Feel trilogy seems to copy the first few days of Shirou’s life going into the Holy Grail War. However, this time around, Shirou becomes much closer to his childhood friend Sakura Matou. Unbeknownst to him, Sakura has a mysterious past connected not just to the Holy Grail War as a whole, but to the entity that has begun killing off the War’s participants.

As with UBW, the Heaven’s Feel films explore the titular route in the VN, where Sakura becomes Shirou’s leading lady. Fans would greatly appreciate Heaven’s Feel as it further expanded the personalities of the characters from the previous series. Moreover, the focus on Sakura greatly helped in building her as a solid deuteragonist in the films.

Why Watch It? Heaven’s Feel is arguably one of the more emotional routes of the original VN. Shirou, Rin, and Saber will have to find a way to save Sakura Matou from impending danger. Being set across full-length films, Heaven’s Feel manages to expand on the original cast much better than the series.

Best Continuity To Watch First

1. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works | Series

The Fate franchise is actually based on a visual novel made by Type-Moon. In typical VN fashion, there are multiple endings to the original game, so the goal of a few of its anime adaptations have been to reflect those routes in their own individual stories. Its a nice convenience for viewers to have a contained story to follow.

As a TV series that serves as one of the three main routes in the VN, Unlimited Blade Works is a pretty convenient start with how it eases you into the stakes while providing an authentic sense of grandeur thanks to the amazing animation by Ufotable.

It follows the story of Emiya Shirou and Rin Tohsaka as they battle in a Holy Grail war with their servants, reincarnated versions of legendary heroes.

2. Fate/Zero | Series

This entry in the Fate series is actually a prequel to Unlimited Blade Works, so it gives some more context to Emiya and a few characters in the world of Fate/Stay Night. Yet we recommend that you watch it after Unlimited Blade Works, thanks to its exploration of Shirou Emiyas adoptive father, Kiritsugu Emiya.

Youll get a newfound appreciation for the characters in UBW and see a more complicated tale at the same time.

Fate/Zero has a darker tone and goes a bit deeper into the magic of the Fate series, so youre going to be better equipped to follow along after seeing UBW.

3. Fate/Stay Night: Heavens Feel | Movies

Gilgamesh Is An Incredibly Charismatic Character In The Anime Community

Gilgamesh is a blond-haired man with ominous red eyes and is often seen wearing golden armor and earrings. He is also one of the main villains of Fate/stay night, and by far one of the most powerful characters of the series.

In Fate/stay night, and other stories written by Kinoko Nasu Magus characters are almost always bad people. Magi have a twisted sense of values due to prioritizing Magecraft research above anything else. Even then, Gilgamesh manages to be worse. But that’s what makes fans love him. See Vegeta in Dragon Ball? “Gil” is even more arrogant than that.

Furthermore, Gilgamesh doesn’t always appear as a villain in the series. In spin-off games following Fate/stay night, such as Fate/Extra, Gilgamesh is one of the Servants the Master protagonist can summon. While he always keeps his detestable but charismatic personality, he makes for a powerful ally. Fate/Extra was first released in 2010, and a remake is in development.

Fate/grand Order: First Order

Unbeknownst to the world at large, the Chaldea Security Organization relies on the analysis of various experts to determine potential extinction events to threaten mankind. Thankfully, their initial 2015 forecast predicts safety for the next century. However, the verdict suddenly announces the end of the world in 2016. With no apparent cause, Chaldea only knows of a link the events of 2004’s Fifth Holy Grail War, the setting of Fate/stay night.

In turn, Chaldea has announced a Grand Order: to change the past and restore the future. To do this, protagonist Fujimaru Ritsuka a new Chaldea recruit and the mysterious Mash Kyrielight need to go back in time.

Fans of the Fate franchise would fondly remember Grand Order as the hit gacha game with a gripping narrative despite its mobile nature. This movie adapts the prologue of the game’s “Observer on Timeless Temple” storyline.

Why Watch It? People who couldn’t be bothered to grind through the mobile game’s hours’ worth of story can watch First Order as it is a faithful adaptation of the game’s first chapter. Fans of the game also won’t feel bored watching the film despite knowing what would happen throughout the story, as the adaptation incorporates stellar fight scenes and gives more personality to the characters.

How Do I Start Fate/stay Night And The Fate Franchise

Gilgamesh uses his Noble Phantasm (English Dub) (Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia)

First off, it’s important to note that all of the series released by Type-Moon are connected together to create the Nasuverse. Everything is loosely connected and taking place in the same universe. So there are different ways to enter this franchise. I’ll introduce some below.

The second thing you absolutely must keep in mind is that the Nasuverse is aimed towards mature audiences. Who are accustomed to Japanese media. To give you an idea, Attack on Titancan be considered as a teens anime and is already pretty gore.

Meanwhile, many Type-Moon stories have way more disturbing content than Attack on Titan. Tsukihime Remake, the latest game by Type-Moon freshly released on PS4 and Switch in Japan, is rated 18+ only.

The Nasuverse is also one of the most convoluted series out there. When you include spinoff game FGO, Fate/Grand Order, there’s even more lore than theTrails Series. Overall, it’s definitely not for everyone.

Fate/grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia

Ritsuka Fujimaru and Mash Kyrielight are sent to the last Singularity after their victory in the Camelot Singularity. They go on a quest to ensure humanitys existence in Ancient Mesopotamia, B.C. 2655. They hear of the three Goddesses that threaten Uruk, the Babylonian metropolis governed by King Gilgamesh, upon their arrival. Ritsuka and Mash will now have to work together to break the alliance of the three Goddesses and put an end to the bloodthirsty monsters threatening humanitys future.

The Mage King Solomon has set fire to the foundations of mankind. Chaldea, a clandestine magicians group dedicated to saving humanitys future, predicted humanitys demise in 2015. Thus began Effort Grand Order, the operation to restore the Singularities in history created by Holy Grails scattered throughout time and space.

Ritsuka Fujimaru, Chaldeas final master, and his demi-servant Mash Kyrielight have gone to and resolved six Singularities using the Rayshift time travel technology. They are about to go on their most perilous journey yet: a civilization in the Age of Gods, B.C. 2655 Mesopotamia. Ritsuka and Mash quickly learn that Demonic Beasts prowl the countryside, preying on humans and communities.

Fate/grand Order The Movie Divine Realm Of The Round Table: Camelot

Courtesy of Operation Grand Order, Chaldea’s Ritsuka and Mash travel in time to “repair” Singularities that would cause Earth’s destruction in 2016. This time around, they stumble upon their sixth Singularity during the Crusades.

As with the other Grand Order media, the two-part Camelot films cover the sixth chapter of the Grand Order game. Newcomers who get to watch the films will appreciate the rather solid narrative, despite only being a part of a larger story. Conversely, fans will love how Camelot manages to tackle this chapter in both a self-contained story while also sharing its larger implications to the overall plot.

Why Watch It? While the movie takes place in the sixth chapter of the game, Camelot won’t fail to help viewers get reacquainted with the rest of the story. With each chapter of Grand Order being its own standalone arc, viewers with no prior knowledge of the game won’t have a hard time getting dragged into Ritsuka and Mash’s timeline-saving adventures.

Which Anime Is The Lil Nas X Golden Armor From Gilgamesh Fate/stay Night Explained

Fate/Stay Night Gilgamesh Render by SuperBeo on DeviantArt

Lil Nas X based the golden armor on a certain character: Gilgamesh from Fate/stay night. A franchise that initially started with a game bearing the same name. It was first released on PC in Japan in 2004, by an independent company called Type-Moon.

Fate/stay night tells the story of seven Magus who can use Magecraft and participate in the Holy Grail War. To keep things simple, in the Holy Grail War, each Magus can summon a Servant, and they all fight to the death. Not simultaneously, but across several battles spanning a few days.

The last Master-Servant pair standing then gets their wish granted by the Grail. Of course, that’s in theory. Fate/stay night gets much more complicated as the story unfolds through the eyes of protagonist Shiro Emiya.

Servants are powerful warriors selected from various heroic spirits whose tales are spread in legends or mythologies. Like King Arthur or Heracles. Servants can be summoned into different Classes, and Gilgamesh, the Hero-King of Uruk from the Epic, is part of the Archer class. This is why you’ll sometimes see Gilgamesh being referred to as “Archer”.

Fate/grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia

In Babylonia, Chaldea’s Ritsuka and Mash travel in time to Mesopotamia in 2655 B.C. Their goal is to fix the Singularity in this era to prevent the Earth’s destruction in 2016 only for a monster-besieged region to surprise them.

The pair soon discovers that mankind’s only hope against these monsters lies in Uruk, a fortress city. To their surprise, the King of Heroes Gilgamesh has taken leadership in humanity’s last effort against these monsters. And he’s been calling the aid of various Heroic Spirits to aid him.

As with First Order, Babylonia also adapts a chapter from the “Observer on Timeless Temple”storyline in the game. This time around, Babylonia adapts the seventh chapter of the main game. Thankfully, with the way the anime is written, newcomers don’t necessarily need to play Grand Order to understand the ongoing events in Babylonia.

Why Watch It? Taking place yet again within Grand Order‘s timeline-saving adventures, Ritsuka and Mash show viewers a magnificent take on one of the most ancient civilizations in existence. Perhaps what’s amazing here is how fans finally get introduced to younger versions of more iconic heroes in the franchise, such as Gilgamesh. The film serves as an interesting take on developing his persona, as well as cementing his status as one of the fan-favorites in the franchise.

Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Rin Tohsaka conducts the summoning ritual and summons Archer on the tenth anniversary of Fuyuki Citys great fire. Archer immediately confronts Lancer, but their battle is seen by Shirou Emiya, who escapes but is caught and murdered by Lancer. Rin uses her necklace to resurrect Shirou, but he is subsequently assaulted by Lancer and summons Saber, who chases Lancer away.

Kirei Kotomine informs Shirou about the Holy Grail War at a chapel, and Shirou chooses to fight. Shirou approaches Rin about allying but is stopped by Illyasviel von Einzbern and Berserker. Archer finishes the battle with a huge explosion. Illya withdraws, and Shirou succumbs to his wounds.

Shirou has a strange sensation upon visiting the school the next day and meets with Rin to explore. They come upon Rider and her master, who turns out to be Shinji Matou. While Shinji escapes inside the school, Rin rescues Shirou. Shirou summons Saber, and together they see Shinji cowering in a classroom corner with a defeated Rider who vanishes. Shinji says that someone else committed the crime and escapes once again. Later, Kotomine proposes to Shinji that he take on a new servant.

Archer ignores him and turns on Shirou until he is saved by Saber. As they return home, Caster ambushes Rin, Shirou, and Saber, stabbing Saber with Rule Breaker, a weapon that nullifies servant contracts. Saber defies Casters orders to assassinate Rin and Shirou and then vanishes with Caster.

How To Watch Fate The Anime Franchise The Lil Nas X Golden Armor Is From

If you’re still interested, Here are some tips to get into Fate. First of all, do not start by watching Fate/Zero. Just like many prequels in Japanese media, it assumes you’ve already seen what happens next and is not beginner-friendly. You should avoid Fate/Zero at first, especially if you’re still unused to anime and Japanese media in general.

The first entry point I suggest is the TV series called Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works. It’s on Netflix. The original Fate/ stay night game had three distinct scenarios, with very different developments. This TV series adapts one of these scenarios while introducing things out for newcomers.

The other entry point I recommend is Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners. It’s a supernatural thriller series of seven movies + several epilogues. All of it is on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime. Be sure to watch the movies in the order in which they were released.

Kara no Kyoukai is the adaptation of a novel, one of the first written by Kinoko Nasu. And while it can be pretty complicated at times, watching it all will help you understand the concepts reused in other parts of the Nasuverse.

Finally, once you’ve experienced one of these, you’re pretty much free to watch anything you want. Just keep in mind it’s always best to watch series in the same order they were first released in Japan.
