That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
|Number of Episodes on Funimation||48|
Isekai has been around for a long time, but the concept truly became mainstream over the last decade. Nowadays, every season tends to have a couple of shows about people being whisked away to other worlds consequently, this subgenre has become oversaturated and overexposed. While there are plenty of underwhelming isekai stories out there, occasionally something like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime comes along that illustrates why this premise has so much potential.

Funnily enough, this show contains many of the common tropes that characterize isekai: an overpowered protagonist and a generic fantasy world influenced by MMOs. However, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimebuilds beautifully on these foundations, crafting an uplifting story filled with action, comedy, and unforgettable characters. When Satoru passes away, he reawakens in a new world as a slime. Despite starting from the bottom, Satoru learns that he has the power to consume the skills of other monsters, and he quickly grows strong. Going by Rimuru, the protagonist sets out to start a kingdom for monsters.

However, he gets a chance to reverse this fate when he chooses to jump in front of a car to save a child’s life- an action quite uncharacteristic of Yuusuke. Though Yuusuke should have been killed because of that incident, those who govern the spirit realm have other plans in mind for him.

By this point, it is almost a cliche to mention Cowboy Bebop in a “best of” list. It is the anime equivalent of saying Citizen Kane is the greatest movie of all time nevertheless, a boring pick is deemed as such because it is usually valid. Cowboy Bebop is one of the best anime on Funimation because it is among the greatest shows of all time, and its brilliance has not diminished at all over the last two decades.
Throughout its 26 episodes, Cowboy Bebop delivers unforgettable standalone storylines and deep character studies for the main crew, all of which receive satisfying conclusions. The anime’s music, visuals, and writing are all top-notch.

Crunchyroll Absorbing All Funimation Content For Ultimate Anime Library
Sonys stranglehold on anime is now practically complete, following its $1.1 billion purchase of Crunchyroll and historical acquisition of Funimation. Now, as expected, its combining the two services under a single umbrella: Cunchyroll is absorbing practically all of Funimations content, as well as its subsidiary, Wakanim. Not everything will make the transition, though: about 80 per cent of content is moving across.
So, what does this mean? Well, an unprecedentedly large library of Japanese animations, obviously. Starting today, tons of shows and movies from Funimation and Wakanim will begin arriving on Crunchyroll so youll get more dubs, more subs, more everything, a blog post explains. That includes titles available now like My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul, and Yu Yu Hakusho, alongside favourites like Cowboy Bebop and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, all under one subscription.
New shows scheduled to air in the Spring will now be broadcast through Crunchyroll, so if youre currently subscribed to Funimation, it might be time to switch over. Moving forward, Funimation will only add new episodes of continuing series, which means Funimation users will want to move to a Crunchyroll account as soon as possible, the blog post continues.
Every Funimation Anime Moving Over To Crunchyroll
The effects from the Crunchyroll Funimation merger are expected to be felt most from April 1st when the new Spring anime broadcasting slate.
However, Crunchyroll has now announced that a plethora of shows that were previously only available on Funimation, would now be made available on their platform.
The streaming giant has been progressively releasing Funimation-only content over the past several weeks. In fact, 19 new shows appeared from the March 8th update, with another 15 titles being added from March 15th, indicating that Crunchyroll will keep a rolling update on old content going as we move closer towards the start of the Spring anime slate next month.
The following is a complete list of the anime shows, subbed and dubbed, which will now be making their way over to Crunchyroll, as stated in a recent news post.
Fans should note that anime series marked with an Asterix are only available in North America, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America only. No information on their European launch has yet been shared by Crunchyroll.

Some sports anime strive for realism and authenticity, but The Prince of Tennis is not one of them. Debuting in the early 2000s, this long-running anime blends tennis with battle shonen-style powers that progressively grow more absurd with each passing arc. While that might not be to everyone’s tastes, for those who do like their sports with a touch of over-the-top mayhem, The Prince of Tennis is made for them.

Gintama Season 4 Mal Score: 910
Gintama is a fourth-wall-breaking action comedy featuring an alternate-reality version of Edo in which swords are banned and aliens have taken over Japan. The English cast includes Michael Daingerfield as Gintoki Sakata, Cole Howard as Shinpachi Shimura, Janyse Jaud as Tae Shimura, and Jocelyne Loewen as Kagura.
This was definitely a challenge to dub since plenty of the references the comedy relies on are based on Japanese culture, which may be lost on American audiences.

Re: Zero Starting Life In Another World
First aired: 2016 | Episodes: 50 Where to watch it: Crunchyroll
The isekai genre of anime is filled with characters who end up transported to another world and are instantly gifted with all of the strength any good power fantasy deserves. While there have been other isekai that twist that formula slightly, it’s hard to beat the sheer terror that Re:Zero manages to convey so regularly.
It’s tricky to discuss Re:Zero without spoiling any of it, but it’s basically a very dark version of life in another world. The hero, Natsuki Subaru, is incredibly obnoxious at times, but his struggles throughout the series turn him into a fairly likeable protagonist.
There’s a lot to love about the lore of the world as well, which is revealed steadily throughout each episode. This isn’t an anime for the feint of heart, but for those willing to grit their teeth when things get tough, this is a must-watch.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Mal Score 918
Held up as one of the best anime dubs in history and widely considered to be better dubbed than subbed, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the story of two brothers, Edward Elric voiced by Vic Mignogna and Alphonse Elric voiced by Maxey Whitehead, who are on the hunt for a philosopher’s stone to fix their grave mistakes.
There are plenty of amazing voice acting performances in the show, including Travis Willingham as the lovable Roy Mustang, Colleen Clinkenbeard as the tough as nails Riza Hawkeye, and Troy Baker as the redeemed Homunculus Greed.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
The isekai genre may be extremely crowded, but Mushoku Tensei stands out from the pack due to its excellent writing and Studio Bind’s extraordinary animation. When a 34-year-old Japanese NEET’s parents pass away, he becomes homeless, and it seems life can’t get any worse.
However, in traditional isekai fashion, the NEET gets hit by a truck and ends up in another world. He takes the name of Rudeus Greyrat and decides to use his knowledge from his previous life to make this one count for more. This new drive sends Rudeus on an epic fantasy quest as he aims to do the things he never had the confidence to do in his previous life.
The Disappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya Mal Score: 865
Based on the fourth novel in the series, the feature film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya involves characters forgetting about the SOS Brigade and a missing Haruhi Suzumiya and Itsuki Koizumi in this supernatural movie with plenty of mystery.
Crispin Freeman voices Kyon, the main character who’s trying to piece the characters back together after they seem to lose their memories of the club. There’s also Wendee Lee as Haruhi Suzumiya and Michelle Ruff as Yuki Nagato.

It was only a matter of time before the two services merged their libraries and became one. And Crunchyroll has the more recognizable branding.

Slice of life tends to be associated with the mundane, but that is not fully accurate rather, the genre depicts the everyday lives of its characters. In some cases, this involves attending school in a quiet Japanese town while leading a life free of worries. Other times, a character’s “normal” involves ferrying a gondola on another planet that has been terraformed to resemble Venice.
Aria is therapeutic. Guiding viewers through a beautiful city alongside delightful and grounded characters, the anime will heal somebody’s tired mind after a stressful day behind a desk.
