Second Step How To Draw Anime Hair Step By Step
Beginning with the bangs, go ahead and bring each strand of hair into view, one piece at a time. As you do so, dont be afraid to try out a unique idea or two of your own. You can make the strands thicker for example, to look like Naruto.
In short, different variations yield different looks. Here are the steps
In the end all said and drawn the result is something wellanimeish! Color the hair green, orange whichever something to best match the new look for your new character in development.
And other than this youre done!
Drawing An Angry Tough Anime Character
The though girl anime characters tend to be fairly emotional and can get angry easily.
For the angry face draw the eyes a lot more squinted than normal and the eyebrows even lower down.
Draw the mouth open and fairly wide with the bottom being slightly wider than the top.
You can also give her a bit of medical tape on her cheek to reinforce the idea of her active character .
How To Shade Anime Hair
As for the mechanics of this drawing of Oliver Rodin, a relative of the great sculptor August Rodin, you can see that the light comes from the windows in back of him, outlining his head and arms and shining through his white hair. Notice, however, that the hair tones around the forehead and ear appear rather dark, seeming to belie their true whiteness. The reason is that his hair doesn’t have a smooth, planar surface like his shirt does, but instead has many tiny ridges and canyons formed by hair shafts. Therefore, the hair on the side cannot reflect a weak, indirect light as effectively as the shirt. So, unless the light shines directly upon the hair or through it, like at the top of the head, the hair often appears to be quite dark.
One problem here is the unity of the design as well as the correctness of the actual figure drawing, since the arms stretch away to a secondary object. The artist tried to counter the oblique line of the arms with downward, linear pencil strokes he didn’t want the strokes to be spaced too evenly, which would give them a machine-made effect, as in the shirt. He would have preferred developing the same loose feeling all over the face as in the arm, but then he wouldn’t have been able to explicitly designate all the character planes.

Drawing A Scheming Antagonist/villain Male Anime Character
A scheming/plotting type expression is another one a negative anime/manga character is likely to have. This is a face they can make when anticipating the success of their plans.
To draw a scheming expression position the inner ends of the eyebrows to be very slightly raised, draw the eyes looking down with the top eyelids lowered. Draw the mouth with a smile and again add a hint of the split between the top and bottom rows of teeth. These will make the smile look less friendly and more like a grin.

Creating The Hair Structure
Pick a shape and reduce the opacity of that particular layer to something like 20-30%. Create a new layer on top of the shape layer and quickly sketch a slightly more defined structure of the hair. In this phase, your goal is to define the hair a bit more. Adding strands and smaller blocks of hair.
Really create that variation in the hair. Do not define too many details at this point. You have plenty of time and opportunities to do those later down the road. The goal was to define it further but not too much. Keep it loose. This way you also relax your mind and dont focus on unnecessary details.
Keeping your mind open to new opportunities is always important.
You never know what your mind throws at you so you should keep the sketch loose. Give it the space it needs.
If you go in with the details, it becomes more and more irritating to add new elements to the drawing. This could be my personal problem here. I dont like to do things twice. Kind of like, you have drawn something and spent time on it. Then something cool comes to your mind.
Something you just have to add to the drawing. At this point, it is a pain to erase and delete those nice details and lines you created earlier. You know.
Its never too nice to delete something you have put an effort to. So keeps this in mind when sketching and also knowing when to get to the details phase.

Drawing Anime Pony Tail /tied Back Hair
Another fairly common anime hairstyle is the ponytail. You will notice that there is basically no side hair in this particular example . So the hair can pretty much just be splits into the front and back sections. The back consisting of the hair over the top of the head and the pony tail.
Draw this type of hair as follows:
Choose Between Main Hair Shapes
After you have created a few major shapes and feel like you just want to move forward. Think about the end result you want to achieve with the hair. Think about the personality of the character and also the personality of the hair. Yes, hair does have personality. It tells something from the person and also gives opinions. Good and bad. Hopefully good opinions.
I could have chosen a more flowy hairstyle with a lot more volume. However, the character is this easy-going and like to have a slightly shorter yet huge volume hair. The character is also more down to earth type. I think in this case the more flowy hair would have made the character a bit more. Well not so down to earth type.
Maybe a bit outgoing party kind of girl. Or this adventurous type of. Shorter hair gave me the flow I was aiming for.

How To Draw Long Anime Hair Male
There are a lot of ways to draw long hair on Anime Guys, but here is an easy one that you can try. This hairstyle was inspired by Itachi Uchiha .
Step 1:
Start at the middle of the hairline and create an M shape.
Step 2:
Draw a line parallel to the front hairline. Keep in mind that this will be the thickness of the front bangs.
Step 3:
From the end of the line you just created, draw a long curve down to the neck.
Step 4:
Draw hair clumps to connect the ends of the hairline together.
Step 5:
Extend the hair by creating curves from the top hairline to your desired length. Make sure to curve them towards the face.
Step 6:
Add hair clumps to connect the ends of the hairline.
Step 7:
Finish up the top of the hair by following the guideline.
Step 8:
Add lines to the front of the hair. Start from the middle and flare it out. Create a few lines going down from the bangs.
Step 9:
Finish the look, and dont forget to clean up the lines.
Tip Break The Flow Of The Hair

One key point I would like to give you is that you should break shapes. If the shape is big and bulky, break it apart. Break the shape into multiple smaller shapes. Another way is to create strands of hair to intersect the big shapes thus breaking the big shapes.
Big shapes create dull drawings. Break them. Cross them. Divide them. Dull shapes make dull drawings. And, yes. I have made plenty of dull drawings and even still create those. We are not perfect.

To begin, take a quick look at the initial images below. Taken from the “eyes” lesson from before were using the face of a male anime character. The details arent necessary here. Its purpose is to simply mark off the face area, so you know where the hair can be drawn into place.
Heres how it looks
The circle above, marks off the area that I plan to draw the hair in and around. The green line marks off the hairline. This is just a visualization/framework tool that if you like can incorporate as you bring your unique hairstyle into view.
