Jujutsu Kaisen really has taken the domestic media market by storm. The series which has over 50 Million copies in circulation in Japan and has sold over 100,000 BD/DVD discs, has also been crowned as the most-streamed TV series and the most popular anime in Japan across all the streaming platforms in the country according to GEM Partners.
GEM Partners revealed their list for the Top 20 most-watched TV series in Japan on SVOD for the first half of the year earlier this week. And Jujutsu Kaisen has clinched the first spot. While Demon Slayer still remains in the second place .
Attack on Titan finished as the third biggest show in Japanese streaming, which doesnt really come as a surprise knowing the humongous hype that has surrounded the series ever since the premiere of the final season.
Top 100 Anime The Good The Bad And The Influential
Ah yes, another top 100 list. Every anime blog must have one right? While most anime lists include anime the writer likes, this one contains many I didnt like at all. However, their importance and popularity demands they have a place. I have seen at least a few episodes or scenes from nearly every anime on this list. As with any top 100 list, there is a lot of subjectivity. Many more deserve a mention but without watching them I cannot make a judgement. These anime are ranked by impact, popularity, and importance. Their representation for good and bad anime habits also influenced their rank. Anime has many bad habits that can be traced all the way to Astro Boy, filler being one of the main issues. Over time, anime developed its own stereotypes and tropes. I tried to include shows that best represent these bad habits and story-telling stereotypes. The worse they are, they better they ranked as a representation of the bad. I considered making a separate list for these, but everything needs to be understood in context, so I settled on combining them with the good. This list has a bias toward newer anime I ranked them higher because more fans are familiar with them than anime from the 1980s and 1990s. This is an image heavy post.

For instance, in Taiwan, Attack on Titan had 16.52x the average demand in the past 90 days, making it the most in-demand show in the country for that period. Meanwhile, My Hero Academia recorded 6.41x the average demand as the ninth most popular show in the same period. Both showed impressive numbers that are well above the average.
Another example is Indonesia, where Attack on Titan had 24.64x the average demand in the past 90 days, making it the second most in-demand show in the country for that period. And while My Hero Academia did not make it into the top ten most popular shows in this period, another anime did. Jujutsu Kaisen recorded 9.19x the average demand, coming in tenth place as the most popular show in the country.
Undeniably, anime is a genre that overcomes all barriers. Cultural and geographical proximity to Japan are relevant factors in the demand for it but, in the end, Anime is a greater phenomenon than that. The same way it captured the different corners of Asia, it will continue to take over the world.
