Erased Season 2 Release Date Plot And Cast

There are plenty of hidden anime gems on Netflix, but “Erased” is particularly loved by fans. Yet with only 12 short episodes, the unique time-traveling story leaves viewers wanting more. Is there more to the story? Here’s what we know.

The sci-fi series follows 29-year-old Satoru Fujinuma, who can go briefly back in time when someone’s life is in danger he uses an ability called “revival” to save peoples’ lives. But after his mother is murdered, he’s sent back further than ever before 18 years into his past, to when he was in elementary school. Now, his mother’s fate is tied up with that of his three classmates who were kidnapped and killed.

Titled “Boku dake ga Inai Machi,” or “The Town Where Only I Am Missing” in Japan, “Erased” began as an eight-volume manga series, but has since been adapted into a live-action movie, an anime show, and a Netflix live-action series.

Here’s everything we know about Season 2 of the anime version of “Erased.”

Hamada is a member of the school’s ice hockey team that won the 1988 national championship. A classmate of the boys, Hamada is visibly uncomfortable with the attention that the championship has brought on himself, especially from the girls.

  • Jerk Jock: He is a star athlete at school and has a permanently sour attitude to match.
  • No Guy Wants to Be Chased: As the description states, he doesn’t like the girls’ attention or their praise towards him.
  • Not So Above It All: While he doesn’t care for everyone’s praise, he gets visibly mad at Satoru’s apparent attempt to upstage him at their race. This is a case of It’s Personal because he’s supposed to be trained in ice skating, while Satoru would be considered an amateur.
  • Oh, Crap!: He is surprised at how Satoru is able to overtake him in their ice skating race.

Why Is Erased’s Anime Ending Controversial

    The Joy of Revival

While in both versions the beats are the same, with Yashiro being brought to justice, the key deaths being prevented and Satoru living a more fulfilled life, the anime rushed its ending. The adaptation only had 12 episodes, dedicating two to Satoru’s return and his final confrontation with Yashiro. Meanwhile, the manga is 44 chapters, and Saturo’s return to the present starts in Chapter 33, with Yashiro not coming back until Chapter 37.

This allows the manga to focus more on Satoru’s rehabilitation, makes the return of his memories more organic and sets up some of the key variables for the final confrontation. It also extends the confrontation itself, giving audiences one more cat and mouse game between Satoru and Yashiro. In short, the manga’s end shows how clever these two are, while the anime does more telling.

Plus, how Yashiro uses Kumi differs greatly. In the manga, Satoru believes for several chapters that Kumi’s life is at stake, and he works hard to prevent that. The anime, on the other hand, reveals that Kumi’s life is actually in danger in the midst of the final confrontation. The manga’s approach highlights the heroic side of Satoru and the scheming side of Yashiro more so than the anime.

Erased: Satoru Fujinumas Revival Power Explained

In the anime Erased, Satoru is able to travel through time to prevent a string of murders thanks to the power of his “Revival.”

The 2016 animeErased follows the journey of Satoru Fujinuma, a failed manga artist who finds himself embroiled in a decades-long murder mystery and with the opportunity to fix a mistake that has haunted him since he was a child: the day that he saw his fellow classmate, Kayo Hinazuki, alone in the park and, although she seemed lonely, he walked away. Later that night, she was kidnapped and eventually murdered. 20 years later after his mother is also murdered, Satoru discovers possibility of resolving his regret and saving those killed in the string of murders, thanks to the power of his “Revival.”

Also referred to as “Rerun,” the origin of this power has never been revealed, with it simply becoming a part of Satoru’s life at some point in his early adulthood. As the name would suggest, this ability rewinds events, usually by just a few seconds, in times of crisis. As Satoru is the only one aware of time turning back, it is then his duty to pay close attention to his surroundings until he can find the cause of this rewind. Unlike other anime heroes that travel back in time, Satoru’s powers are primarily concerned with others as opposed to himself, as these occurrences are always designed to save someone within his vicinity.

Erased Anime Review: What Makes It A Must Watch

    Erased – Anime Review

Erased, also known in Japan as Boku dake ga Inai Machi is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kei Sanbe. It was serialized in Kadokawa Shotens Young Ace magazine from June 2012 to March 2016, and is licensed in English by Yen Press. The series consists of 12 episodes. If youre a lover of mini-series what are you waiting for?

Oh, the review. The anime is loved by a lot of viewers, and if were talking about the reviews its probably 10/10. Because the storyline is literally eye-catching. Lets talk about it.

    Erased Contains Examples Of:

    • Abusive Parents: Kayo’s mother physically and verbally abuses her.
    • Adaptation Distillation: The anime condenses quite a bit of the material from the manga to fit the entire story into twelve episodes. This is especially apparent in the anime’s adaptation of events following the 15 year Time Skip, but also true of many events prior to it, stretching as far back as the beginning.
  • Adults Are Useless: Played with in multiple ways:
  • Satoru is a 29-year-old in the body of a 10-year-old and is far from useless, yet he is directly involved with the kids and observes that none of the adults seem to notice Kayo’s abusive home situation.
  • Subverted with Sachiko. She’s aware that her son is getting involved with Kayo and suspects the latter may be having trouble at home but has no way of proving it. She later proves instrumental in getting Kayo taken away from her mother.
  • Subverted with Yashiro who, as her teacher, notices Kayo’s bruises and constant absences and tardiness, yet is in a position to do very little. He tells Satoru that he’s called the CPS, who are useless, multiple times, and they’ve yet to take any action against Kayo’s mother. And then that’s all thrown out the window when Yashiro is revealed to be the killer and that he never called CPS except for the one time they actually investigated the Hinazukis, at which point he decided to drop Kayo as a target.
  • Alternate Character Reading:
  • The Bus Came Back: In Chapter 35, Airi is finally reintroduced to the plot.

Fujinuma, who is sent back to his childhood to solve the murder of a girl named Kayo Hinazuki and prevent his mother’s death in the future. It’s an intriguing mystery conveyed with cinematic flair. It’s been at the top of Reddit and on Crunchyroll’s popularity rankings, and it is currently the fifth highest-rated anime of all time on MyAnimeList. It deserves the love. Its plot is tightly-constructed, and its themes have a potent emotional appeal. But I think ERASEDSword Art Online), whose keen cinematic sensibilities elevate the series already great writing and acting to impressive heights.

The clearest example of this is the show’s use of letterboxing to frame scenes taking place in the past. This serves to emphasize the shift in Satoru’s worldview as he leaps back in time. As a kid he sees things from a narrower, shorter perspective. The only people who fully fit into it are other kids. But the world around him also seems wider, with broader possibilities.

Itou also sets the tone for the series through use of color red in particular. Red frequently appears on characters clothing, denoting emotional vulnerability. As a child, Satoru wears a small red button directly over his heart. As an adult, his work uniform is red, and his coworker Airi has a red ribbon on her school uniform. His mother is wearing a red shirt when she’s killed, as is Hinazuki.

    What Parents Need To Know

    Erased Anime Wallpapers

Parents need to know that Erased is a live-action adaptation of a Japanese comic book story like the original manga, it’s in Japanese . The series centers on the murder of one character’s mother and a series of child murders. One murder takes place on-screen: A woman is stabbed while she gasps and cries. Her blood flows and pools as stabbing noises fill the soundtrack later, her son discovers her body and screams “Mom!” Other disturbing images show children in danger: A strange man leads a young girl toward a van, and children are alone and vulnerable in snowy, empty fields. A man in a car accident flies through the air . Other than the violence, this drama contains only one “damn” and no sexual content. But a woman drinks multiple beers, and a villain wakes up in bed with half-empty liquor bottles and a full ashtray beside him. Some culturally specific messages may mystify Western viewers, as when a young boy is urged to make friends by imitating the popular kids in his class.

    Is Erased A Good Anime

In a pinch, Erased is a 12 episode anime that falls inches short of perfection. So yes, it is more than just a good anime to watch. In fact I would go as far to say that this anime is a must watch. As anime is becoming increasingly popular in the United States, Erased is definitely one that should be drawing more attention. It is not underrated by any means, and this anime falls into a much more prestigious category than your typical seasonal anime.

Erased is about a 29 year old aspiring mangakaSatoruand his abilities known as Revival. This ability allows for Satoru to have a premonition that something bad is going to happen around him, and it is his duty to find out what it is before it happens. His unique ability usually sends him back a few minutes in time to asses his surroundings, and fix whatever could be wrong.

Now that I have explained the basics, allow me to delve deeper into why this series should be considered one of the best.

The easiest place to start off is the opening episode. It is not uncommon to kick things off with an over-the-top episode that doesnt reflect the true intentions of certain characters. It is also very common to see an anime that doesnt quite have legs underneath its plot until episode five or six. However this is not the case for Erased.

    ERASED (Official Trailer)

A girl from Satoru’s childhood, Kayo Hinazuki is one of the original three victims of the serial killer that terrorized Satoru’s hometown. Regularly abused by her mother, Kayo is emotionally closed off from other kids, and often spends her free time alone in a park.

    • Babies Ever After: She ends up married to Hiromi, and they have a son named Mirai together.
    • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Invoked and played with. Kayo is considered to be a pretty girl at school, but she is asocial and quiet, so she doesn’t garner attention. Her mother makes a point in hitting her in places where bruises won’t become visible, like on her thighs, her torso and her shoulders, and whenever damage to her face is incurred, she forcefully submerges her in ice water in order to make the bruises go away. She also dresses Kayo in fine clothes as to avoid the appearance of neglect and abuse. So no, her beauty is not tarnished, but not for lack of trying.
    • Because You Were Nice to Me: Satoru becomes the first person she considers a friend after he takes the initiative to actually talk to her and be honest with himself around her.
    • Broken Bird: Due to the abuse she suffers, Kayo is quiet and reserved, never interacting with anyone she doesn’t have to.

What Will Be The Plot Of Erased Season 2

Even though the anime did not fully stick to the manga’s story, it did end the murder mystery and resolve the loose ends. So, what else has to be covered for a Season 2? Well, of course, the writers could come up with a new story centering on Satoru’s time-traveling ability that is separate from the source material. However, the manga did have a spin-off novel that delved into what happened after the events of “Erased” and further explored the killer’s motives.

It’s possible “Erased” Season 2 could use this material, though the format of the series would probably be quite different from Season 1. Additionally, the original author wrote and illustrated a spin-off manga, titled “Boku Ga Inai Machi: Re,” which focuses on Kayo Hinazuki, one of the original child victims, as the main character. So while the main story may be over, there is plenty of source material to supply a new season it would just be a little different.
