Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron

Top 10 Best Anime Series of All Time

Practically every entry in the long-running Gundam maxiseries is about the human cost of using child soldiers in combat, but Iron-Blooded Orphans makes its metaphors much more explicit. The main characters of this show are members of Tekkadan, a private security firm made up of young kids who are referred to as human debris throughout the series. When they happen upon a powerful weapon , they rise up against their masters and go into business for themselves. Iron-Blooded Orphans pulls no punches, down to the creepy blood-squelching sound effects used when the young soldiers jack in, Matrix-style, to their mecha.

Kaze Ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru

First aired: 2018 | Episodes: 23Where to watch it: Crunchyroll

Any good sports anime will leave you wired with tension, glued to each play and each moment of team bonding. Long-distance track racing however, is not necessarily a sport that makes people dizzy with adrenaline, and so Production I.G., a studio that really knows their sports , takes things down a notch.

Meet Kakeru, a former ace runner who lost his friends and his club due to an altercation in high school. Now a university student, he gets invited to a downtrodden dormitory. It turns out that the dorm houses the involuntary members of a running club, all roped in by Haiji Kiyose, who wants them to participate in the Hakone Ekiden, the most prestigious university relay race in all of Japan.

Its a ridiculous plan, but the series takes you all the way from a group of young men refusing to even entertain the idea to reluctant training and finally, the race. Each of them faces different personal issues, and if theres one reason you likely wont expect from a sports anime, its sobbing like a baby when one of them has a breakthrough. The emotional depth of Run with the Wind is just that great, and its nice to see an anime like this focus on the issues of young men, rather than high school students.

Laid Back Camp Season 2

Director: Tomoki MisatoAnimation production: Shin-Ei Animation, Japan Green HeartsTheres not a whole lot to say about Pui Pui Molcar, but thats the beauty of it. The adorable, quite literally bite-sized childrens anime maximizes on a premise thats just delightfully absurd and straightforward: What if there were cars that were also guinea pigs? Animated in stop-motion, the show depicts a world where people drive these sentient, guinea pig hybrid vehicles known as the Molcars , each episode a display of their various hijinks and subsequent problem-solving. Theres a tactility to the show and its furry vehicular protagonists that makes it eminently watchable and thats before the artists begin throwing in visual references to famous movies, ie. the Akira bike slide. It cranks up the absurdity in sketches that flirt with amusing bleakness as the adorable MolCars are forced at gunpoint to take part in a bank robbery. Each new episode is light, fun and creative, as it capitalizes on a concept that is as simple as it is ridiculous, each charming story told within an incredibly breezy and economical 2-3 minutes. Truly a blessing.

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken

20 Of The Best Anime Series Ever Created

What else is there to say to make you watch this?

Out of all the isekai series saturating the market ever since the debut of Sword Art Online, this has been a rare refreshing take on that whole genre.

Instead of being a generic male novice, this sees the main character live his new life as a slime a cute, small slime.

With a rich and vivid fantasy world, plus a lighthearted vibe that sometimes makes me think of KonoSuba, the anime is such a good relaxer after a long day.

Rimuru Tempest is one of the most lovable anime protagonists of the past decade, and I cant wait for the sadly delayed second season to arrive.

Superman: The Animated Series

Superman always sprung to life on the page, but repeatedly proved to be a challenge onscreen. How do you provoke an indestructible, goodie-two-shoes hero? Villains have to be specially engineered to pose any threat whatsoever , and Clark Kent cant be the only identity offering the audience a human connection. Alan Burnett and Paul Dinis WB adaptation, the first of Warner Bros. Animations follow-ups to Batman: The Animated Series, made wise choices from the get-go. First, they introduced a Superman who was extremely durable rather than totally impervious. He felt pain when he was crushed by a toppling building, even if it wouldnt kill him, and watching him strain to save the day made his efforts that much more engaging, week after week. Making Lois Lane an active hero herself helped as well, and the realistic animation fit these updates, along with the bright tone and driving score. BT

Jojo No Kimyou Na Bouken

If the criteria for the best anime ever was the number of memes it spawned, JoJos Bizarre Adventure would at least land at the top five.

Ever since its debut in 2013, JoJos Bizarre Adventure has slowly but surely gained popularity, especially among Western anime fans.

And how could it not be a favorite source of otaku humor?

From their absurd poses to the facial expressions and phrases , the charismatic characters of JoJos Bizarre Adventure were born to be recognized.

Major props to David Production for doing a swell job on the adaptation.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Puella Magi Madoka Magica was written and produced by master anime deconstructivist Gen Urobuchi with the express intention of upending your expectations. Explicitly marketed as a standard entry in the magical girl anime genre, Madoka Magica famously subverts several of the tropes that define that genre. Without spoiling too much here, the show makes no bones about killing off main characters, withholding exposition from the viewer, or turning the tables on the characters ethics . If youre cool with the cutesy veneer, Madoka Magicas ambitions are obvious and fully realized through its writing and trippily surreal animation.

Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma

This show will make you ask questions like: Why is this character orgasming after eating a squid tentacle with peanut butter on it? Such is reality in Food Wars!, an unabashedly horny, strangely mouth-watering show about a young chef who engages in cooking competitions at culinary school. Food Wars! turns cooking basically into a sports anime, which are a distinct sub-genre all their own, and part of its fun is how it sexualizes everything related to the food its characters cook. An acquired taste, yes, but rich nonetheless.Watch it if you love: Top Chef Samurai Gourmet

Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z & Dragon Ball: Super

The story of Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the Z Warriors is one of the most iconic tales ever told in anime. From Dragon Ball, to Dragonball Z, and now Dragonball: Super, one can argue that DBZ almost single-handedly paved the way for anime in the West! The endless powerups, endlessly ascending power ceiling, drawn-out battles, and iconic characters have remained fresh in the minds of people for decades now, and the IP doesnt show any signs of slowing down in the near future either. And, with incredible games like Dragon Ball FighterZ, there’s no reason to slow down anyway!

Inuyashiki: The Last Hero

[48+] Best Anime Wallpaper Ever on WallpaperSafari

Inuyashiki is easily one of the best anime to come out in the past few years. Its storytelling even rivals that of great American serialized television. Its just that good. Right from the start it presents the sort of story that immediately gets your attention and lets you know that youre watching something special. Inuyashiki is an elderly man whose family seems to hate him and are totally unappreciative of his existence. One night he goes for a walk in the park and some sort of alien explosion rocks the area. When Inuyashiki comes to, he appears to be a super powered robot with insane abilities. He uses these new powers to help those in need and even learns that he can heal and bring people back to life. Suddenly Inuyashiki has a purpose in life and watching him reawaken straight up made me cry on multiple occasions.

Inuyashiki is a series that I will be absolutely shocked if some savvy American director doesnt opt to turn into a movie within the next few years. Its an absolutely beautiful story that boils down to the universal concepts of good and evil. Catch it now and get ahead of the game. At eleven episodes its an extremely easy commitment that youll wish was longer.

The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K

Why Naruto Is The Best Anime EVER!

Given that its about a pink-haired teenage boy with psychic powers, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K gets a lot of mileage out of the purely mundane aspects of his life: going to school, or interacting with his parents, or even, uh, watching anime. Like any moody kid, all the eponymous Saiki wants is to be left alone and mind his own business, but the need to keep his secret from most of the people around him gets in his way. His deadpan delivery and ever-present internal monologue drive the show, and each episode delivers a new, deliciously meta comedy of errors.Watch it if you love:Sabrina the Teenage Witch the character Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation

Q: Whats With The Huge Eyes In Anime

No, its not some inferiority complex, and not quite all anime has the big eye style. But, most of it does, and the fact of the matter is that no one is 100% sure why. However, the first person to use that style is usually credited as Osamu Tezuka, the creator of the old Astro Boy TV series among various other very popular TV shows that became the foundation for Japans entire animation and comic industry. As to where Tezuka got the idea, Fred Ladd, who worked with him, has said that he said he was emulating Betty Boop, who was popular in Japan at the time. Other early US-produced animated characters that predate the anime style also have very large eyes.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online

Top 10 best anime fights ever (part 1)

Karen, a university student in a near-future Tokyo, gets talked into playing virtual reality games, and soon gets obsessed with an MMO called Gun Gale Online in part because she has a complex about being tall, and her avatar is very short. While playing, she befriends a woman named Pitou, who convinces her to team up with a friend for a new squad-based battle royale mode .

The show is very action-heavy, often focusing on accuracy when it comes to the tactics and mechanics of combat and firearms. But it still gives story and character moments priority. Seeing Karen grow as a player inside the game and as a person outside of it is really enjoyable to watch even if you dont really care about battle royale games.
