One series that is getting rave reviews is the men’s gymnastics sports series Backflip. Filled to the brim with wonderful animation and a story that is slowly unfolding, Backflip is proving to be the underdog series of the season.
In this series, the first episode starts with a kid named Shotaro who is finishing his junior high career as a perpetual bench warmer on his baseball team. He is definitely an athlete, having already done swimming and soccer as well, but now he finds himself lacking in direction and is unsure what to do with his high school career. That is until he stumbles across a men’s high school rhythmic gymnastics meet and sees a routine by Ao High School who, even though they don’t win, still impresses Shotaro to the nth degree.
So much so, in fact, that when asked what he wants to do with his high school career by his parents, he decides to attend Ao High just so that he can join the rhythmic gymnastics team! This story will be a coming-of-age teamwork story about a young man attempting to find his place on the team as the resident newbie and in the world at large.
Telling an original story that can’t be spoiled by anyone, studio Zexcs is handling the animation with Toshimasa Kuroyanagi serving as the director. They are working off scripts written by Toshizo Nemoto. The series is scheduled to run for 12 episodes.

Backflip Anime is a sports-based movie mainly focusing on gymnastics. The lead character of the movie is Shtar Futaba, who loves sports and wants to play some serious sports. He joins the Sshkan High School where he develops a keen interest in gymnastics. The lead character of Backflip!! Shtar Futaba. Shimba Tsuchiya gave voice to the character. The Backflip show has already described Shtars sports interest and his encounter with gymnastics at Sshkan High School. The other lead character and student of Sshkan High School is an orphan Ryya Misa who is voiced by Kaito Ishikawa.
There were various seniors of the school who plays a major role in the story and the inter-high competition. The seniors of Shtar include Keisuke Tsukidate voiced by Takashi Kond, Ktar Watari voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya, and Masamune Shichigahama voiced by Daisuke Ono. The gymnast boys are back and bigger than ever in the upcoming sequel anime film to the Backflip!! TV anime series. Backflip Anime Film Release Date
The Backflip!! Anime is going to release on 2nd July 2022 in Japan. Directed by Toshimasa Kuroyanagi and written by Toshizou Nemoto, Backflip Anime is the follow-up of Backflip!! TV series. The movie is released under Zexcs studio. At the same time, the music in the movie is given by a prominent composer of various anime movies and shows Yuki Hayashi.
The TV series was originally streamed between April 2021 to June 2021. It has 12 episodes. Now the follow-up film also has a sports background and inter-high tournament. Notably, the Backflip TV series was also directed and written by Toshimasa Kuroyanagi and Toshizou Nemoto respectively.

Where To Watch Bakuten
As mentioned, the Bakuten!! anime is the progenitor of the franchise, and despite it releasing a few months afterward, the manga version of the story adapts it and not the other way around. The series was written by Toshizo Nemoto and directed by Seishiro Nagaya and Toshimasa Kuroyanagi. It was handled by production studio Zexcs, who had previously worked on lower-key anime productions and never made anything particularly major. The 2021 anime series was officially part of “Zutto en Project 2011 + 10…”, which was meant to commemorate the 2011 tsunami and earthquake in Japan.
The series ran for 12 episodes from April until June 2021, but that’s not the end of the story. A movie continuing the series was announced after the show ended, and this is currently scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2022. Before that comes out, however, fans will want to rewatch the series or enjoy it for the first time. To do so, all they need is an account with either Crunchyroll or VRV, where the series can be streamed in its entirety. So far, there hasn’t been an English dub or DVD/Blu-Ray localizations, so fans will have to watch the series with subtitles as they await the movie continuation.
