[Draw Anime Character Tutorial] 07 – Neck and Shoulder
  • Sketch in a neck by extending straight vertical lines on each side of the face from the jawline. The neck should be narrow, so make sure the lines you draw are closer to the chin.
  • Draw the tip of the nose where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect.
  • Draw the eyes below the guideline you drew in step three. Start with an arched line that goes towards the side of the head. The bottom line of the eye should be anywhere above the tip of the nose. Afterward, draw the eyebrows slightly above the guideline.
  • Draw the ears but make sure theyre between the eye and nose lines you drew earlier on.
  • To add the characters mouth, draw a slightly curved horizontal line between the nose and the chin.
  • Lastly, clean up the guidelines that arent a part of the head or face. Give your character a fun hairstyle, and youre done.

    How To Draw Anime

    Fourth step

    Time to draw the neck.

To draw the neck you draw two lines on each side of the chin. The lines can be curved or straight depending on what kind of anime style you're trying to draw.

Has you can see in the picture above I draw the curved lines for the neck.

You start to draw the neck lines just a little bit away from the chin. You can stop midway and draw in the collarbone like I did in the picture above. The collarbone can help you draw the shoulders. The collarbone is what connects the neck and shoulders together. So if you draw the collarbone then you know where to start the shoulders and when the neck stops.

To draw the collarbone you draw a u shape just below the neck. Then draw two lines going up and then straight on each side. If you're confused of what i'm talking about then look at the picture above. You don't have to draw the collarbone.

Once you have the collarbone drawn then continue to draw the neck. Contuine drawing the two lines you started to draw and connect those lines to the collarbone you drew. Make sure that the lines connect to the ends of the collarbone lines.

Also the size depends on what gender you're drawing. If it's a female then the neck should be slender. If you're drawing a male then the neck should be thicker then the female's neck. Don't make it to thick for the male or else it'll look weird.

Creating a zine or a comic is pretty complex, so why not start with creating small items?

Today, I will explain how to prepare art for acrylic keychains, which are easy to make and look cute with chibi characters!

An acrylic keychain usually requires three separate data, depending on the printing vendor template.

Open the template, and paste these images on separate layers, usually the following:

Then, send the data to the printing vendor.

For the artwork, choose the data you want to use.

At the top, indicate where to place the hole for the keyring chain.

Make sure you dont draw anything over the hole.

The white fill is the base color under the illustration.

Without this white base, the illustration will be printed directly on the transparent acrylic, which makes the colors appear translucent and hard to see.

To print your illustration as you created it, make sure to create a white fill layer.

It is easy to create this data create a duplicate of the illustration layer and fill it with a solid color. The printing vendor will print this layer in white.

Because it sits under the illustration, the shape should be a silhouette of the artwork. If you want certain parts to appear transparent, you can remove the white fill on those parts.

Cut area shows where the acrylic board will be cut.

The layer can be purely black. Fill the area surrounding the illustration in black.

Avoid creating a complex cut border, as the keyring maker may not be able to cut it.

Finally, Id like to leave you with one exercise I found to be most helpful in learning to draw the torso. I spent a couple of hours a day for a few days on this exercise, and I have seen incredible results.

The exercise has to do with training your mind to see three-dimensional form on two-dimensional canvas and it works better than anything else I tried so far.

    Pectoralis Major

So far we connected some of the major neck muscles those that will be most important to drawing the torso. Now lets draw in the chest muscles onto our skeleton maquette.

Pectoralis Major originates at the sternum and medial part of the clavicle , and the abdominal section and at ribs 5 and 6.

It has two sections both of which attach at an insertion point to the humerus bone, this insertion is covered by the muscles of the shoulder.

This is an important point, the chest muscles wedge into the shoulder and underneath. Take a look at the image below where we add the deltoid muscles to our figure:

    Deltoid

The deltoid muscles curtain around the upper arm from back to front. Front delts originate at lateral third of the clavicle . Middle head of the delts originates at acromion .

All three sections of the shoulder muscles have insertion points at the humerus bone in the arm.

How To Draw NECK SHOULDERS & HEAD LOOKING UP FOR GIRLS IN ANIME MANGA

Understanding the structure of the human body is key to improving your character illustrations! With this illustrated tutorial by Eridey, learn more about bones, muscles and discover how the different parts of the body are connected to each other.

The key to improving is to do our best and put our heart into what we do. Anatomy is not an easy subject, but I hope that this article can be a quick guide for you and get you in the mood to keep learning. Lets start with the building blocks of the human figure:

The spine is the bodys support, also allowing motion in the torso. Its vertical shape differentiates humans from other species. It is not a straight line, but a curve. Its shape makes the pelvis and the rib cage tilt slightly. Lets divide it up into three parts to see it better:

  • Cervical spine supports and provides mobility to the head
  • Dorsal or thoracic spine supports the ribs.
  • Lumbar spine a little before the pelvis, connected to the sacrum.
  • In the neck, the cervical spine is located just behind the jaw . There are a variety of muscles that operate the movement of the head. The most visible one has a very, very long name , but you can easily recognize it by its V shape, parting from the ear to the center of the clavicles . In the center of these muscles is the Adams apple, which is more prominent in men .

Note that female hips are generally wider than male hips one of the main differences.

    Anime Expressions: Anger And Rage

How to Draw Anime Neck & Shoulders

Anger is perhaps the easiest to represent in Anime and Manga art. Features determining this emotion are easy to identify: the eyebrows are lowered and slanted to the center of the face. The mouth is open the character is often shouting in anger. The whites of the eyes are visible as the eyes are open wide.

Really intense and emotional spikes of anger are highlighted by a shouting mouth in Anime, perhaps just like in real life. In this expression, the jaw will move down substantially in real life, but no so much in Anime and Manga art. The silhouette of the head stays the same in most examples. However, a lot of the faces showing anger in Anime are drawn with the nose higher on the face, making space for the open-shouting mouth.

    Neon Genesis Evangelion

A drawing of a character shouting at another, or a character leaping into a fight with a battle cry is characterized by a forward-moving motion. Notice how in the image just above, the head is drawn to show forward movement. Inevitably, if this drawing showed up in Anime frames, we would see the character moving forward on the screen.

The jaw is dropped down at this angle . We are looking up from below at this character as indicated by us seeing the bottom of the nose, and the bottom of the chin, and not seeing the top of the hair/head.

In the example above, the eyebrows are tipped down to the center of the face, showing displeasure. The eyes are open wide, focused on the object of dissatisfaction .

How To Draw The Neck Skeletal Structure

How to Draw Manga Necks for Beginners

To draw the neck correctly, we need to understand the skeleton underneath. It is not enough to approximate the ribcage with an oval blob and just stick a cylinder on top. This simplification may help form the most basic drawing, but if you want to learn how to draw the neck beautifully, this limited information is just a starting point.

Of course, the ribcage is larger than the neck and can be generalized as an oval, and of course, the neck is a cylinder. How else can we describe the neck to help us draw? How else can we observe it?

Once you grasp the very basic forms, pay special attention to angles and shapes. The neck sits on the body at a slanting angle, slanted to the front. It is surrounded by clavicles in the front and scapulas in the back. The traps map onto the scapulas of the back and connect to the acromion process and the outer sections of the clavicles. The traps create a half-a-cone structure that surrounds the neck.

The neck muscles that are sometimes shown in anime are the sternocleidomastoid muscles or SCM for short.

The SCM go from the middle of the collar bones to behind the ears.

When drawing the SCM in the anime style you do not need to show them completely. You can simply give a hint of them by drawing lines that represent their outer edges and go about halfway up the neck.

How To Draw An Anime Body

This “skeleton”, though so simple, is actually half of the jobonce you have set the proportions the way you want, there’s not much you can do wrong! But a correctly drawn skeleton is just a skeleton, so let’s see how to fill it and create a body.

An anime body can be reduced to simple forms, like spheres and ellipsoids. They introduce another level of proportions, although they’re much looser and easier to keep right. It’s important to remember that although they look like circles and ellipses in your drawing, they’re actually 3D objects, and they are subject to perspective.

Let’s take a look at the body parts separately. The torso still looks very much like an hourglass. You just have to remember about the tilting of the chest and hips towards the waist in the back.

The limbs are a little more complex, but still easily understandable. Just imagine them as the limbs of a drawing dummy! Also, pay attention to the joints.
