Best Friendships In Anime

How to Make Cosplay Friends

Sometimes, friends can do more harm than good, or be the key to healing a wounded characters’ heart. Here are the best and worst friendships in anime.

Akin to love, friendship can either be an excellent or horrific thing between peopleand that goes for fiction and non-fictional characters. Having characters have bonds of friendships makes for a more exciting anime; however, it can also show how lacking the experience can be in the way it is depicted. Not all companionships are lovely, like in a shounen anime, nor are they the healthiest, either.

Sometimes, friends can do more harm than good at times, or they can be the key to healing a wounded characters’ heart. Whatever the narrative choice may be, here are the best and worst friendships that graced some characters.

Whats so magical about this show is that it depicts yokai, which are like spirits, and yet it manages to be so down to earth.

Our protagonist is a lonely little boy who cant seem to connect with anyone. He can, however, see the yokai.

One day he finds his grandmothers book of friends which has the names of dozens of yokai bound to it. The protagonist decides to set all these yokai free and starts going down the list.

However, with each encounter he gets another snippet from the life of the yokai, and soon learn to appreciate those around him.

The puffy cat Madara is also easily one of the most entertaining characters ever.

Finding Otaku Friends In Real Life

Not sure is this the right forum for this one but; we all know it can be hard to find people that share your interests in the real world especailly when your interests are anime, manga, and cosplay. Its not like they wear signs or have otaku writen on their foreheads, So I’ve adopted a few creative ways of indentifing fellow fanatics; Like baiting them or creating them. I was wondering if other otaku resort to these tactics, or if they have there own unique or weird way to identify themselves as otaku or ways pick each other out of the crowd.

I would sometimes just mention an anime or talk about anime in general and see if I get a reaction. If I do then I continue on, if not, I’ll change the subject.

I’ll just wear an anime t-shirt or put on a anime hat, like my totoro hat. That just signals “otaku anime fan”

Usually my “ice breaker” is my pocketwatch. Actually Ed’s watch from FMA. I wear it every day…that and the FMA logo on my truck’s back window, and wallet…usually gets people questioning what the symbol is…

I’m taking Japanese class.. and it’s about a 85%+ chance that my classmates like anime or video games. It’s so awesome. So I can randomly bring up games or anime, and they usually are interested and talk about it with me 🙂 .. so I guess, the best chance is to join some club or something that relates to or has some connection with anime. Plus it’d be easier to bring it up as a topic since it relates to the club or class somehow.

How To Connect And Bond With Someone Online

Heres a quick trick to make deeper conversation that helps you bond faster.

Instead of asking about the subject, example:Where do you live?

Ask about their relationship to the subject, example:What do you think about your place of living?

By asking about someones relationship to the subject, you make a deeper and more meaningful conversation. This is what I call Personal mode. When youve switched to personal mode, it gets easier to ask more personal questions which helps you bond even faster.

Here are some examples of even more personal questions:

  • Where do you dream of living?
  • Whats holding you back from living there today?

Note that its also important to share equally much about yourself to bond.

B How To Start A Conversation On Instagram

Instagram is quite similar to Facebook, but theres no clear group to follow there. Instead, I recommend you follow people who share some sort of niche interest with you.

For example, Im into growing my own food, so I follow some local enthusiasts in my city. I regularly like their posts, and leave a reflection or question about it if I come up with anything.

Now, we know each other a bit better, and its only natural to message them . So, for example, I could send a message like this:

Hi, I love what youve done with your garden! Im especially curious about your fig tree. Id love to visit your garden sometime in the coming weeks if youre open to it?

Hi, Im so curious about your orchids. Can I buy you lunch this weekend? Id love to learn more about your collection!

It doesnt need to be more complicated like that. Not everyones going to say yes, but from my experience, a surprising number of people would LOVE to meet up with someone like-minded.

B Investing More Into The Relationship Than The Other Person

5 Signs that youre investing more in the relationship than your online friend:

  • Youre the one who starts most conversations.
  • Your messages are almost always longer than your friends.
  • You are trying to meet up repeatedly, but your friends dont make any efforts.
  • Youve shared A LOT more about yourself than they have shared.
  • You always respond instantly while they often take some time to respond.
  • Are Online Friendships As Real As Face

For many people, the biggest concern when it comes to attempting online friendship is the issue of whether or not online friendships are as real as face-to-face friendships. A study done by ethnographer Denise M. Carter over the course of three years proves that they are.

According to sociologist Anthony Giddens, whom Carter references extensively, the three components of friendship are:

    • Freedom
    • Commitment
    • Intimacy

Freedom refers to the concept that friendships are chosen, unlike kinship ties which are determined by birth. Commitment is the idea that your mutual bond will withstand trials throughout time, and intimacy is the bond of trust that makes people comfortable sharing personal information with one another.

While many people question whether these three components especially intimacy can truly be developed online, Carters study shows that they can.

In fact, she says, the Internet makes it easier to develop intimate friendships because people are not bound by the social and cultural norms that may influence their face-to-face friendships, such as socioeconomic status and social hierarchy. In addition, it can be easier to open up to people online because of the security in knowing they are unable to break your confidence by sharing it with mutual acquaintances.
