Konosuba: 10 Facts You Didn’t Know About Megumin

Megumin Moments [English Dub] Konosuba

KonoSuba features a colorful cast of characters and Megumin has the most “explosive” personality. Here’s a look at 10 facts about the mage.

Megumin is one of the main characters in KonoSuba, along with Kazuma, Aqua, and Darkness. She’s an exceptionally powerful Arch Wizard who specializes in Explosion Magic. As one of the prominent characters in the series, Megumin is undeniably one of the most loved characters among the fans who, naturally, want to know more about her.

However, like the other characters, much of Megumin’s past is actually a mystery, which is why we’ll be going over 10 facts that you probably didn’t know about her. Of course, we’ll be including the anime, manga, and the light novels for this, so here’s a little spoiler warning. Let’s get started!

Her Childhood With Yunyun

As seen throughout the series, Megumin is very close to Yunyun, her childhood friend. As kids, the two attended the same school where Megumin used her in quite a lot of ways, tricky as she is. According to the series, Megumin used to swindle food from Yunyun as her own family was too poor to provide a meal to her.

Interestingly enough, this is also one of the reasons why Megumin appears so weak and feeble. All the members of her family are similar to her in terms of appearance.

Worst: Narrow Magic Preferences

Megumin is a powerful and talented member of the Crimson Demon clan , but she squanders the bulk of her potential by choosing just one type of magic: explosion. She loves it dearly.

But using just this one spell type is a pretty narrow way to fight, and Megumin has a lot of vulnerabilities since she only uses a single, powerful spell type. She has no chance of completing any quest when alone a party must back her up.

This series may be short, but already, Megumin has established herself as a fan-favorite, and she is popular all over the isekai fandom. In some ways, she is a clear contender for Best Girl, though in some ways, she’s also Worst Girl. But that’s just how it works in Konosuba each character is deeply flawed and wacky, and that makes them compelling. How does Megumin measure up?

How She Found Kazuma

Megumin managed to graduate from her school very early, thanks to her exceptional skills with Explosion Magic. As such, she should’ve been able to walk into any party that she liked, really. However, once she left to join a party, Megumin quickly gained the reputation of a crazy explosion mage.

Consequently, parties refused to entertain her and shut her out. As a result, Megumin ended up finding her way to Kazuma and Aqua, who were looking for members to add to their party as well. Thankfully, it all worked out for our Crimson Demon Mage.

How Old Is Megumin From Konosuba Explained

According to the third volume of the light novel, Megumin is 13 years old

KonoSuba: Gods Blessing on This Wonderful World! takes the isekai and fantasy genre to a wonderful turn, resulting in a series thats filled with laughs and absolute chaos. Its definitely a must-watch for people who love watching certain anime genres mixed with a lot of comedy in them.

Konosuba is originally a light novel series created by Natsume Akatsuki in 2013. It follows the story of Kazuma Sat, a high school student who dies and ends up reincarnated in a fantasy world mixed with MMORPG elements. Alongside him is a goddess named Aqua, whos practically useless and loves using her powers for simple party tricks. Eventually, their party is joined by Megumin, a wizard, and Darkness, a crusader.

Megumin is one of the adorable fan favorites. This explosion magic-obsessed girl loves explosions so much that shes dedicated her arsenal to a single powerful and destructive spellbut she can only use it once a day. Not to mention, it practically drains all her energy afterward. Thats just one of the seemingly outrageous things about Kazumas party as a whole which makes them such an entertaining ensemble.

Megumi in Japanese means blessing, so there may be a pun hidden somewhere there based on the full title of the series. Megumin can also be a cute way of saying Megumi. Since shes so cute and all, a common question among fans may be about her age.

Worst: Messing With Yunyun

This is Yunyun, another member of the Crimson Demons clan and once Megumin’s classmate at school. She is also a skilled user of magic, and unlike Megumin, she is cooperative with others and has a more balanced skill set.

Megumin puts up with her, but not much more than that. She tends to tease and harass Yunyun and generally takes her for granted. That’s some way to treat one of the few people who knows what it’s like to be in Megumin’s shoes.

Her Love For Explosion Magic

Almost every fan of the series is aware of Megumin’s obsession with Explosion Magic. She’s seen performing it every day, and an episode doesn’t really feel complete without her using this art at least once. According to Megumin, her obsession with Explosion Magic started when an old lady saved her using this art when she was a kid.

Being amazed by the grandeur of it, Megumin decided that she would become an Explosion Mage. According to Megumin, she has to perform Explosion Magic at least once a day, or die. There is no middle ground.

Megumin’s can-do attitude is commendable, though she does take it a little far at times . She acts like she’s the greatest wizard ever, and that’s a bit of a stretch right now, given how she collapses after one spell.

Megumin will get a little further in her career if she can be more honest to herself and know her limit, and be patient about her personal growth. She’s only 13-14 right now she’s got her whole life to become a great wizard. One day, she will finally justify her boastful words.
