Guess what dood!? Were back with our full Anime Expo schedule! Check out what we will be doing each day! Below, you will see all of our panels, autograph sessions, cosplay gatherings and even tournaments in one convenient blog post. Not sure who some of the guests were featuring are? Anime Expo Lite After
If you need more Anime Expo after the events of the official stream, fear not for the Anime Expo Lite After-Party is here to give you that extra boost. For both nights, there will be a two hour concert featuring some iconic names in the EDM scene and some musical performances by performers all around the world.
On July 3rd, the line-up will be very EDM heavy and feature: Graz, The Contro1freak, ZENPA, and MEIRLIN.
On July 4th, the line-up will be more on the musical side and feature: MiruDaru, Stephanie Topalian, Phoenix Ash, and Diana Garnet.
Each concert will start at 8:15 p.m. PDT. These events will not be VOD, so if you miss the stream, you will miss your chance to listen to these artists. There is no additional fee required to catch this stream, so make sure you dont miss it!
Warner Bros Japan Panel
Warner Bros. Japan is joining the Anime Expo Lite lineup with a behind-the-scenes look at Record of Ragnarok which is currently streaming on Netflix. The panel will touch on how Graphinica was a big help to creating the impactful animation of the series. The panel will also feature an interview with the music composer Yasuharu Takanashi who is most known for his work in Naruto, Fairy Tail, and Hell Girl.
Of course, Warner Bros. Japan cannot get away from Anime Expo without giving fans more information about the very anticipated adaptation of Stone Ocean. The adaptation was announced during the JoJos Bizarre Adventure the Animation Special Event ~JOESTAR Inherited Soul ~ event in April, and fans are super excited for this 6th part about the Joestar bloodline.
For this panel, select clips will be shown to the public and the producer and editor will talk about how the past series were made and touch upon david productions growth over the years. Will there be more news about Stone Ocean? Tune in to find out.

Newsanime Expo Returns To Los Angeles As Physical Event On July 1

The staff of announced on Wednesday that the event will return as an in-person convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center on July 1-4, 2022.
The Lite 2021 virtual event in place of an in-person Anime Expo convention this year.
Anime Expo Lite 2021 was held on July 3-4 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PDT each day. Tickets to the event cost US$5, with all proceeds going to the Hate is a Virus commUNITY Action Fund.

Kousuke Oonos The Way of the Househusband has quickly become a favorite amongst anime fans. The Way of the Househusband follows The Immortal Tatsu, an ex-yakuza, who is now happily married and becomes a househusband. The manga has become a favorite amongst fans for its humor, wholesome content, and creating new standards for relationships. This year, Anime Expo Lite will host a live chat and drawing session with Kousuke Oono as well as a chance to win Oono senseis shikishi drawing!

Anime Expos 30th Anniversary
Due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, all conventions went online, and Anime Expo was no exception. In May 2020, the SPJA announced a two-day online convention called
Anime Expo Lite, which took place on July 3 and 4, 2020 and drew in over 500,000 views. The SPJA also addressed plans to have an in-person con for 2021, but given the state of the ongoing pandemic, this years convention will also be online, but that is not stopping the celebration of Anime Expos 30th anniversary.
This years program is no different from past years as it will include: panel discussions with industry leaders, industry announcements, live content, exclusive content from Japan, Q&As, community & educational segments, and community features. Of course, the content of these events will be completely different.

Its 2pm and a blistering 38°C, but the moment you step into the Japanese Pavilion at the Expo 2020 site, a gentle breeze welcomes you. No, we are not indoors yet and there are no fans around. It is all thanks to origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, which has inspired the design of the pavilion façade. Designed by the Japanese architect, Yuko Nagayama, the white exterior uses natural airflow to cool the pavilion.
According to Isao Ando, the Pavilion Director and the Deputy Commissioner General of the Japanese section: The façade brings together arabesque and origami motifs and represents the longstanding historical ties between Japan and the Middle East. The structure takes in traditional energy-saving systems from both cultures and can be seen as an example of sustainable architecture.
Now, if you are not already awestruck, this is only the beginning.
The Japanese Pavilion is situated in the Opportunity Pavilion of the Expo 2020. Aiko Yabunaka, the Secretary General of the Pavilion, explained: Our theme is Where ideas meet. We are creating an opportunity for people to meet and share ideas for a better future.
Celebrating 30 Years Of Anime Expo
Since its inception in 1991 and its implementation in 1992, Anime Expo, formerly known as AnimeCon, has been a staple event amongst anime fans and industry members from all over the world.
In 1992, the first Anime Expo was hosted at the Red Lion Hotel in San Jose, California, and the convention was hosted there until the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation made the decision to relocate the convention to Southern California in 1994.
Afterwards, the convention traveled all over Southern California before it found a permanent home at the Los Angeles Convention Center in 2008.
For the past 13 years, thousands of people have flocked to the LACC for the 4th of July weekend to shop, attend panels, and just have fun in general. As someone who was not only born and raised in a family of anime fans, but also happens to live in Los Angeles, Anime Expo was always an event I looked forward to as a kid, and to be honest, even now.
Now, many would wonder whats so special about Anime Expo? On the surface, it may appear as a weekend where people just come together to dress up as anime characters and shop. For some, it may be just that, but for others, its the one time a year where they can let loose and have fun.

Over the years, SPJA has supported organizations such as the Japanese American National Museum, Animator Dormitory, and Japan Society Relief Fund through its annual Anime Expo Charity Auction. SPJA is now expanding its charity recipient program to a year-long partnership, starting with the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center in Little Tokyo.
How To Watch Anime Expo Lite 2021
Anime Expo Lite is about to begin, with the digital convention starting later today which will give anime fans the opportunity to watch panels that dive into the future of such series as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Demon Slayer, Star Wars Visions, and more. With the coronavirus pandemic causing many anime conventions and events to take their festivities online, most of the panels will be made available for this year’s Anime Expo via a live streaming function and/or “video on demand,” services that will allow fans to watch said information dumps at a later time.
Anime Expo Lite begins today, July 3rd, starting at 3PM Eastern, 12PM Pacific Standard Time, and will only cost viewers five dollars to take in all of the panels that take place during one of the biggest anime events of the year. Aside from the previously mentioned anime series that fans will have the opportunity to watch live, other events of note during this digital convention include the likes of the Crunchyroll Industry Panel, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Panel on Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli fame, the premiere of Sonny Boy, and a Funimation Industry Panel to name a few. Needless to say, Anime Expo this year has covered many bases when it comes to the medium of anime.

Anime Expo 2022 Will Return As A Live Event In La
After canceling their 2020 convention and going virtual in 2021, Anime Expo will return to Los Angeles as a live event in 2022.
Following two years of setbacks due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, Anime Expo has announced that the convention will return as a live, in-person event in 2022.
Anime Expo announced via press release that the event will return to its traditional venue of the;Los Angeles Convention Center in 2022 for in-person festivities.;The convention was cancelled in 2020 shortly after quarantine and stay-at-home orders were mandated, marking the first time that the convention missed;a year in its;almost three decade;history. The expo returned as an online-only streaming event in 2021, with ticket sales being donated to the Hate Is A Virus community action fund, a non-profit organization that provides resources for Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities and fights against the rise in Anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination across the country. Anime Expo says that it was able to donate over $77,000 to the group thanks to 2021’s ticket sales, as the online convention drew over 375,000 viewers across the world.

Anime Expo 201: Art Show Contest

At this year’s Anime Expo, we’ll be sponsoring 10 pieces of fan-art to be displayed at the Anime Expo 2016 Art Show. For a chance to have your art displayed, please do the following:
- Create a piece of traditional 2D art* set in the Disgaea, Touhou, PSYCHO-PASS, or Danganronpa universes.
- Send a picture of your artwork to by June 13, 2016.
- *See rules for details on what counts as traditional and accepted artwork dimensions.
Please note that SPJA has set specific guidelines that every artist must follow:
- Digital art and prints are not accepted.
- 3D printed items are not accepted.
- All art must be family friendly and follow a strict PG guideline. We’re using the movie rating system as a guideline.
- The SPJA reserves the right to refuse any art deemed inappropriate.
- The SPJA is NOT responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged art displayed at the Art Show.

Fueling The Fight Against Hate
Anime Expo has a long history of hosting charity auctions to raise funds to assist the community. This year, SPJA is expanding its charity recipient program to a year-long partnership, starting with the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center in Little Tokyo to help fund and program future events for the next year.
However, the assistance does not stop there. In the past year, we have seen a sharp rise in hate crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community due to misinformation and baseless fears regarding COVID-19.
Thats why Anime Expo will be donating all ticket purchases for Anime Expo Lite 2021 to the commUNITY Action Fund by Hate is a Virus. Hate is a Virus is an organization dedicated to;raising awareness of; issues across the AAPI community and standing in solidarity with these communities by educating and equipping the community with tactical strategies on how to respond to the hate and racism, and raising money to provide relief to small, Asian-led businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19.

This is a day my team and I hoped wouldnt come, but it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the cancellation of Anime Expo 2020. Our utmost concern is for the health and safety of our amazing Anime Expo community. We understand your disappointment as we are anime fans first and foremost too. As you can imagine, this was one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make in the 29 years of Anime Expo.
With the COVID-19 situation continually changing, as well as more restrictions in place worldwide and in our host city Los Angeles, we cant in good faith move forward with this years event. We know it will affect all of you differently and we did not come to this decision lightly.
For exhibitors, artists, contractors, performers, and more, this impacts you on many levels. Anime Expo is an important source of income as well as inspiration for all of you. We know you have been working tirelessly in preparation for July and we appreciate your dedication to your craft.
For our staff and volunteers, who have been working hard, planning every detail of this years event since before AX 2019 ended, we share your sadness please know we support you every step of the way as we turn our attention to next year, Anime Expos 30th anniversary!
For our attendees, AX is a place to see old friends, make new ones, and experience the immersive nature of the larger anime community. We will miss seeing you!

Why Hasn’t Anime Expo 2020 Been Canceled Yet
Editor’s Note: Hours after this piece was originally published, the SPJA formally announced the official cancellation of Anime Expo 2020, with a handful of notes about what to expect when it comes to refunds and rollovers. Please check the official Twitter feed for further updates.
Strange as it is to say, Anime Expo hasn’t announced whether or not it will be holding the event in 2020 yet. So a lot of people have been asking if the event will be cancelled, and the SPJA hasn’t made an announcement yet.
The safe thing to do would be to tell you that it’s too early to tell, and that AX 2020 might actually happen. I’m not going to do that.
There’s no way in hell that AX 2020 will happen.
At least, not in its usual format.
We spoke with Peter Tatara of Leftfield Media, which handles AnimeNYC, about their events and their recent unfortunate cancellation of the first Anime Frontier in Texas. Tatara told me most conventions incur a very significant portion of their expenses during the 8 weeks leading up to the event. These expenses include printing, decorating and guest travel.
Therefore events usually have to decide whether or not they are going forward by that time. Tatara says, if he had an event in July, he might be able to push the decision back a little, but his decision would ideally be made no later than late May.
