This is one of the difficulties I had to overcome when I first started to draw anime. I’ve noticed that anime clothing folds tend to be quite sharp and ‘unnatural’. Drawing Anime Sweat Pants
To draw anime sweat pants again start by drawing the overall shape.
For sweat pants that are fairly baggy that hang down as in the example there will be very few folds. The only major folds in this example will be on the knee of the forward leg as the pants will hang off of it very slightly creating some tension.

Overall clothes are quite easy. To begin with, draw your piece of clothing so you have the general idea.
Short sleeves are pretty easy, whether you'd want no sleeves, spaghetti strands, short or long sleeves. Just remember if you have sleeves, either short or long, don't forget creases!
For pants, they usually start on the waist so draw the body first and start from that ^^ then, for the crotch, don't draw too many creases so it doesn't look like a camel toe XD it usually helps if you look at yourself through a mirror or some model on the internet because I have troubles with this as well lolol.
Also, if you want a tucked in shirt, just remember where the pant waist is and draw it from there. To make it look flow out of it , draw a part of the shirt over the pants and draw a few creases .
Furthermore, for skirts it depends on how long it is or what material. I drew a general, bland skirt with no design to make it easy.
So, for a short skirt, it's usually fluffy and puffed up . The more it's longer, the more downward it is because of the weight of the fabric
Finally, for jackets just draw a sweater as shown and draw an opening. Don't make it so the jacket is the hugging the waist entirely , draw it flowyand free. The length can either be flowy or straight like the skirt.

Any character, that is original is copyrighted by the creator the instance that it is being created. You don´t have to do anything, that character is your creation and therefore it is copyrighted.
But there is a little problem with that. Lets say, you created a character years ago and now this year an anime is released that has a character in it, that look exactly like yours. Now you instantly send a message to the creators of that anime telling them, that this is your character, that you created and this is copyright infringement! Like a mirrical, they actually respond to you telling you to prove it and until you can´t the copyright still belongs to them. And any proof, that you may find will not be enough, because their character hit the public eye faster than yours and no one will believe you. Even if you tell the truth.
And that is the problem with any idea or design based copyright. Proving that is was your idea or design is very hard for a single person. Not for a company though.

The character has a very military looking outfit, and when you think about the character. The character is very stiff to the outside world, mysterious, but also very powerful. So the outfit has to support that characters personality.

When you are drawing clothes for your anime character, its not so important to how to draw, but WHAT to draw. Make the clothes support your vision of the character.
When youve decided on the clothes, its time to tackle the dynamics of the clothes. With dynamics, I mean the flow and mood the clothes bring.
How the clothing moves and how it supports other elements in the drawing is essential.

Clean Up & Finish The Drawing
To finish the drawing erase the parts of the legs hidden by the foreground part of the skirt and erase the parts of the background section of the skirt hidden by the legs.
You may also notice that the background/inner area is slightly shaded. This area will usually tend to be darker so adding even a tiny bit of shading as in this example can make your drawing stand out a little bit more.
How To Color Anime Clothes
Here are my best tips on how to color anime clothes:
- The transparent fabric should be colored lightly and so that the light shines through the fabric. Keep the shadows light and transparent.
- The heavy fabric should have strong and dark shadows
- A rubber texture should have clear light spots and a strong contrast between dark and light.
- Change the darkness of the shading according to the material of the clothing
- No color restrictions, use any color you like, just make sure it complements the personality of the character
In my example drawing, the character is elegant, maybe even royalty, so the coloring has to match that personality but also the design of the outfit.

- Characters hair also slightly define the clothing, some clothing works better than another with a certain hairstyle

Apply clothing on an Anime / Manga character. Observe how the applied clothing forms according to the underlying figure.
Apply the basic shape of the clothing. No folds yet this time, just simple basic shape of clothes. Though the Anime / Manga character has its clothes, it still looks flat and unrealistic.
Folds and overlapping folds are being applied to the Anime / Manga figure. Try to find which behaviors are caused by the stretching and pulling.
Add more details to complete the Anime / Manga character. Drawing clothing requires practice and observation. Experiment! Always ask for the force influencing the behavior of folds and try to locate them. Always look for the pulling and stretching.
