- Fullmetal Alchemist is surprisingly dark, but its subtle enough to come across surprisingly well. Its darkness and depth set it apart from the other fantasy anime it competes against, and it works perfectly in every way.
- The characters are extremely well developed and intricate, and Edward especially embraces his flaws and everything about the world he lived in and nearly destroyed. The relationships are fun, endearing, and everything about them is particularly heartwarming.
What We Love About Dragon Ball
- The characters have such a genuinely portrayed chemistry with each other. Dragonball never seems to take itself too seriously, allowing the viewer to sit back and enjoy the ride.
- Dragon Ball is divided into multiple story arcs, some longer than others, which are hilariously funny and manage to entertain with fantastic battles. Dragon Ball is genuinely funny.
- The fights were always entertaining and well thought out. It was never just a case of running in, attacking, and tapping into a hidden power.
Children Of The Whales
Children of the Whales plays with the idea of a postapocalyptic world racked by ecological disaster, this time as a global desert instead of an ocean. A pocket of survivors now lives on a giant floating city called the Mud Whale, and a majority of them developed psychokinetic abilities. Its 12 episodes explore what happens when the Mud Whale encounters another island with very different beliefs, and the conflict that follows. The MAD SCIENTIST! The PRODIGY! The GENIUS! Rintarou Okabe deserves to be on the list. Hes super popular with fans, and when it comes to his intellect, no one can beat him. Due to his mysterious vibe, a lot of characters in the series think that hes a villain. But in reality, he loves to invent new things.
Okabe has the vibe of a genius. The sheerpressure he puts others through when they are talking to him is unreal. Or maybe not? Hes such a dumbguy that he talks to himself on the phone. I guess we peasants wouldnt understand, would we?
Whats The Difference Between Dubbed And Subbed Anime
Subbed anime has the original Japanese audio but comes with subtitles . This helps foreign audiences connect and understand the mood, even if the viewer cannot understand the words. On the other hand, dubbed anime uses voice actors speaking in English .

From my deep understanding of the anime community, there are 6 popular genres in particular. Especially if you look at this from an objective point of view. Instead of basing it off opinions
Food Wars is one of the more unique examples of Shounen.
Think of Dragon Ball Z and then add food to the picture. And you have Food Wars .
Shounens have become famous because of shows like:
- Dragon Ball Z.
And in recent years, because of shows like:
- Fairy Tail.
- Attack On Titan.
- My Hero Academia.
Whenever a new year comes around or comes to an end, youll always find someone talking about a popular series. And 8/10 the anime is a Shounen without question.
Supernatural is usually associated with magic, and even Shounen from time to time.
Either way this is a very popular anime genre you cant escape. And thats not a bad thing. Because a lot of the time theres something new and fresh that comes out of the supernatural genre.
The Ancient Magus Bride is an obvious recent example of this. Along with Rokudenashi and Re:Creators.
What We Love About Hetalia
- The concept. What an interesting way to learn about the history and completely laugh at it. Its a very creative and unique idea, and totally worth all of the laughs that it brings to the table. History is made very comedic here.
- The character designs match perfectly with their specified country, and its absolutely hilarious. The stereotypes played into Hetalia are funny, not offensive, and that was a tricky thing to do. But it was pulled off and pulled off very well in fact.
- Despite having a history to go off of, everything about the world-building still feels very unique and original in terms of setup. Hetalia doesnt feel redone or rehashed and instead feels like an interesting comedy in a world where things have started to feel a little too similar. Hetalia definitely stands out from the crowd.

Takumi Usui Is Protective Caring And Excels At Everything He Does
Takumi Usui may come off as a teasing player at the start of Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama through Misaki’s eyes, but this perception couldn’t be further from the truth. He simply isn’t interested in most of the girls who confess to him, giving him a bad reputation.
Despite being the kind of guy who could land almost any girl, once he sets his sights on the heroine Misaki, he’s completely and utterly devoted. He’s fiercely loyal, incredibly caring, and doesn’t hesitate to shield his partner with his own body if he has to in order to keep them safe.

Animated in stop-motion, the show depicts a world where people drive these sentient, guinea pig hybrid vehicles known as the Molcars , each episode a display of their various hijinks and subsequent problem-solving. Theres a tactility to the show and its furry vehicular protagonists that makes it eminently watchable and thats before the artists begin throwing in visual references to famous movies, ie. the Akira bike slide. It cranks up the absurdity in sketches that flirt with amusing bleakness as the adorable MolCars are forced at gunpoint to take part in a bank robbery. Each new episode is light, fun and creative, as it capitalizes on a concept that is as simple as it is ridiculous, each charming story told within an incredibly breezy and economical 2-3 minutes. Truly a blessing.

What We Love About Death Note
- The concept in general is incredibly creative and discusses righteousness, death, and vanity in one of the most original ways an anime has ever done. The violence perpetrated by emotions and the inner workings of Lights mind, making the world seem smaller in an interesting way.
- Ryuk is one of the best anime characters of all time. Hes funny, is the main catalyst for the whole show, and gets along well with Light to the point where their relationship is sometimes comedic. He is definitely the best character in Death Note and definitely makes the story.
- The voice acting is on point, especially for Light and Ryuk. Two very talented voice actors are portraying two complex characters and their personalities, and overall, it works in the shows favor. They arent the only talents of course, but they both ultimately steal the show together.
What We Love About Hunter X Hunter
- The characters are definitely one of the shows strongest points. Even the horrible ones are well developed, well portrayed, and generally, voice acted to perfection. Their designs are exceptional, and theyre unlike any other animated characters out there.
- The world itself is very well done. The story is complex, nothing feels contrived, and the story manages to be quite endearing once you get used to the characters and their slightly over-exaggerated personalities.
- The plot itself moves pretty quickly, for the most part. The beginning may feel slow, but the rest is well done, and the story feels authentic in every way as if it was written with emotions and its audience in mind. Hunter x Hunter is a genius at this and does it very well.

If youre into retro style, Im sure Spike would be the specimen of your choice. The dude is way beyond crazy. Everything from his character to the vibe, I cant! A 27-year-old guy who was born on Mars, and now he works as a bounty hunter. What can be cooler than that? Even though the anime is pretty old, Spike is still one of the most popular anime characters of all time.
And oh boy! Girls love his blue suit. Spike is an all-in-one crush for ladies. But being all that handsome, he has a sad side to him as well. Spike is just good at hiding but hes always sad due to what happened in the past.

- The characters are extremely flawed, but well written in every aspect of their personalities. No one character is overworked or overemphasized, and they all balance each other out in the best ways possible.

Premiering in 1999, One Piece is an anime series about a pirate boy with a rubber body searching for a treasure to become the Pirate King. The show is still on the air with over 1,000 episodes broadcast thus far and counting. Its one of the most popular anime series of all time. So much so that Netflix is even working on a live-action adaptation.
In an analysis done by CenturyLink, One Piece was the most searched anime in 2021 in the United States. This could be due to the series still airing or its new live-action adaptation drawing closer to release.
