Princess Zelda appears in the Sequel to Breath of the Wild. She eventually ended up separated from Link, and witnessed the corpse revive itself via the malice.

This adorable show is aimed at older kids and is a parody off of role-playing games. With that in mind, it has to be on this list. There are some scenes in this anime that could have been straight from the idea of poking fun at The Legend of Zelda!

The show has video game-style information boxes, a cliché fantasy villain, and even the requirement of side quests! The anime has 38 episodes and ran in 2000. It is not just suggested for Legend of Zelda fans, but for RPG fans, in general.

The Princess of Hyrule from before the Great Flood

The back story of The Minish Cap tells of the Minish Legend. In the Minish Legend, a hero clad in green clothes, the Hero of Men arose to fight the demons attacking the world. This story of the Minish Legend is depicted in a series of stained glass windows beneath the Elemental Sanctuary. One of the stained glass windows depicts a Princess of Hyrule wielding the Light Force. Using the stained glass window, Vaati is able to deduce that the Light Force is currently held by the current Princess Zelda.

Update : The initial publication of this article mistakenly referred to David Howe as a director of the Castlevania TV series instead of an editor. This has now been amended.

Widespread gossip of a Legend of Zelda TV series goes as far back as 2015, when the Wall Street Journal claimed that Netflix was producing a show based on Nintendos iconic action-adventure franchise. Of course, the rumor was nothing more than, well, a rumor, as Nintendo swiftly confirmed the claim to be false. Discussion of such a project has remained commonplace in the Zelda fanbase, however, and apparently its also something that fascinates those in the animation industry.

David Howe is an editor at Powerhouse Animation Studios and a big fan of The Legend of Zelda. In a recent interview with Zelda Dungeon, Howe was asked why he thought the series would be a great fit for an anime adaptation.

Well I think theres precedent for itI personally own a couple copies of the Ocarina of Time manga, so theyve already adapted it into a serialized manga formatand I think if something works in a manga format then it would work in an anime. And then theres also the world building.

This anime ran in 2016 with 12 episodes. The main group of characters all lost their memories, except for their names. They are in a video game-like world with guilds and monsters and decide to form a party together.

What sets it apart from the Legend of Zelda series is the focus of teamwork and the group rather than on individual characters. What brings it close to the Legend of Zelda is obviously the world in which it takes place.

The Legend Of Zelda Anime Series For Adults Has Been Presented By Castlevania Animator

Castlevania entertainer David Howe really wants to do The legend of Zelda anime series for adults. Back in 2015, a live-action Netflix series from Nintendos hit franchise was rumored to have fans around the world really excited. However, the live-action series never came to fruition, reportedly because someone at Netflix leaked the information before it was supposed to go public. With the success of the Castlevania series and a next Super Mario Bros. movie on the way, Nintendo fans are beginning to wonder if The legend of Zelda will be next.

Well, I think there is a precedent I personally have a couple copies of the Ocarina of Time manga, so theyve already adapted it to a serialized manga format, Howe said.

The animator went on to point out that he believes that if something works in a manga format, then it would work in an anime. And then there is also world-building. When it comes to building the world, there are plenty of places to put on a show based on the Zelda franchise, along with a wide range of villains and allies to feature.

I mean, I think a movie could work, but having time to really explore that, the breadth of the world, in a serialized format would work really well. It would also follow the structure of games that are, you know, temple-based. or based on a boss, you could really group them into couple episode arcs.

The Legend Of Zelda Animated Series: A Very Strange History

The 1989 Legend of Zelda animated series is definitely not what you were expecting. Here’s the weird history of its existence.

Its quite amazing that Link, our favorite little Nintendo adventurer, has been a staple of the video game world for thirty years. Since the very first Legend of Zelda game in 1986, weve followed the stories of Hyrule, Princess Zelda, and the evil Ganondorf, as if it were the video game worlds very own Biblical epic. And this is a fight between good and evil that will hopefully continue to amaze and inspire us for many more decades, especially now that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has finally been released.

A couple of years ago, some buzz about a possible Legend of Zeldaseries for Netflix tantalized us all for a few short weeks before getting kind of debunked . But in any event, it got people talking. What would make for a successful Legend of Zelda series and what would not?

Its practically impossible to even attempt that conversation without harkening back to the last time Link, Ganon, and Zelda herself graced the small screen for any longer than a 30-second TV spot for the latest game. Thats right, were talking about the agony and the ecstasy that was the 1989 Legend of Zelda cartoon.

What Wed Like To See From A Netflix Zelda Series

Everything below is us speculating and theorizing what we could expect from a Zelda Netflix series.

The plot of The Legend of Zelda series would be entirely dependant on which video game it will be based upon. While all the video games follow similar themes, each video game is incredibly unique in its own right.

As for what each of the three rumored seasons could cover here are our best guesses:

    • The first season could follow the events of the video game The Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask.
    • The second season could be focused on Link to the Past, Links Awakening, and A Link Between Worlds.
    • A third season could then cover Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks.

It must be noted that the timeline that the first season will cover is missing Twilight Princess and Four Swords Adventures.

Skyward Sword, which takes place years before the timeline diverges, wont be in the animated series. The latest video-game of the franchise, Breath of the Wild, has also not been rumored to appear in the animated series. It is theorized that Breath of the Wild is where all the respective timelines converge. Nintendo is yet to clarify where in the timeline Breath of the Wild resides.

‘legend Of Zelda’ Fans Think It’s Time For An Anime Adaptation

The Legend of Zelda has had a rough go of it with animation. The franchise courted a now-infamous TV series shortly after it was made, but Nintendo has kept the iconic title from all things television since. However, if you ask fans, it is time the title took another swing but with anime this time.

Over on Twitter, a rising group of fans have started pushing for a Legend of Zelda anime. Those voice rose even louder when Nintendo informed fans a remake of Link’s Awakening is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and fans aren’t going away quietly.

As you can see below, a fan gathered screenshots of previous Legend of Zelda fan-animations along with the new reel announcing Nintedo’s next remake. The images were put side to side, showing fans what a well-done anime might look like. So, it is easy to see why fans jumped on board with the tweet.

    GIVE US ZELDA ANIME

“Put it on Netflix and have a team of writers as good as the Castlevania writers, and we got a series,” a fan known as Haywire Jordan rallied before Brian Johnston added in their own note.

“Plus…we’ve got the Zelda manga, which also proves another point a Zelda anime would do really well!”

As for where such a series could go, fans are on the fence. There are several manga titles out based on Link’s adventures which are ripe for an adaptation. Still, plenty of fans are partial to the futuristic story found in Breath of the Wild with many wanting to learn more about Link’s past in Hyrule.

Legend Of Zelda Anime Series For Adults Has Been Pitched By Castlevania Animator

David Howe really wants to deliver The Legend of Zelda anime series to Nintendo fans all over the world.

Castlevania animator David Howe really wants to make The Legend of Zelda anime series for adults. Castlevania Animator Is Up To Do Legend Of Zelda Anime

Over the last many years, Nintendo has been pushing their IPs into realms that they havent in the past, and one of the results of that is the mobile games that have come out by Nintendo and its partners and the animated movie that is set to arrive next year via the studio Illumination. However, the head of Nintendo has said that theyre interested in doing more animation projects beyond Mario, which has fans excited. As well as some in the animation field who would love to do those projectslike a Legend of Zelda anime

This isnt just a random thought, however, this comes from David Howe , an editor over at Powerhouse Animation. That company name may sound familiar because they are/were the team that does/did the Castlevania anime over on Netflix . Howe talked with Zelda Dungeon recently and noted that he feels a Legend of Zelda anime would totally work right now:

I think theres precedent for it, he said. I personally own a couple of copies of the Ocarina of Time manga, so theyve already adapted it into a serialized manga format and I think if something works in a manga format then it would work in an anime. And then theres also the world-building.

Thats an intriguing notion, and one that would fit with some of the stories of the Legend of Zelda universe. Not the least of which is Twilight Princess, and even Ocarina of Time. Or they could pull a Castlevania and do an original story. The potential is there, the question iswould Nintendo allow it to happen?
