Growing up with television as the only source of entertainment, Dragon Ball Z was my favorite. Didnt even know it was an anime back then. And much like any other 90s kid, I loved Goku.
Reasons?
The naive sense of justice, the ability to come back from the dead, always leveling up at the time of need, and the innocence as a character make Goku a timeless hero.
My brother and I tried to turn into Super Saiyans by screaming at the top of our lungs. Though we obviously didnt turn into Super Saiyans, for some reason, there was always this powerful smell afterward. Dont know why.
Later in my teens, I got introduced to the world of anime and I was fascinated to see so many characters other than Goku carrying the same brand of justice, friendship, and motivation to grow stronger.
Doesnt matter how many anime I see, the kid in me still doesnt want to accept the fact that anyone can be stronger than Goku. But lets face the reality, some characters are stronger than Goku. And its a FACT.
So, without wasting any time, lets begin the list of 22 characters who can beat Goku.
Jaco The Galactic Patrolman

Goku in Dragon Ball Minus
Kakarot had been inside his incubation chamber for three years since his birth when his father Bardock and his mother Gine decide to release him. Bardock makes the decision to send Kakarot away to Earth in an Attack Ball since he is worried about Frieza’s ambitions. Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta a month after Kakarot has been sent away.
Days later after being sent to Earth, Kakarot lands in Mount Paozu. While there, he is found by an elderly man, Gohan. He takes him in and feeds the newly found alien. Kakarot is eating when he is given the name “Son Goku”.
Super Saiyan God Goku
Next, we have Super Saiyan God. This form is the turning point in the franchise from Ki, to God Ki. With Super Saiyan 3 being too weak to take on Beerus, Goku needed something even stronger to take on the God of Destruction.
In this form, Goku was able to go toe-to-toe with Beerus using 70% of his power . He was also able to hold his own against Broly for a bit before Broly adapted and overpowered him. There is a catch, however, to receive this form the user must either perform a ritual with 5 other good-hearted Saiyans or go through divine training to achieve God Ki.
Surrounded by a fiery red aura, the skin turns a pinkish color, and hair maintains its normal style while becoming more refined and turning a magenta kind of red, Super Saiyan God is one of the most visually appealing forms Goku has had to date.

Goku In Dragon Ball Z
By the start of Dragon Ball Z, five years have passed since the end of Dragon Ball, which effectively makes Goku 23, now with a five-year-old son named Gohan in tow. After learning of his true Saiyan heritage from his long-lost evil brother Raditz, Goku sacrifices his life for Piccolo to kill Raditz once and for all. As the Z Fighters train on Earth for the arrival of Raditz’s superiors Vegeta and Nappa, Goku trains in the afterlife. Upon his resurrection through the Dragon Balls, Goku remains physically 23 but chronologically ages t0 24 when he helps drive Vegeta from the Earth.

After defeating Frieza, Goku spends three years training with the Z Fighters for the arrival of the androids, which was predicted by the alternate future Trunks. During this time, Goku was physically 26 and chronologically 27. Realizing how dire the situation has become, Goku and Gohan train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber — a chamber within the heavenly Lookout largely unaffected by time in the outside world — for a full year, emerging with Goku now physically and chronologically 27 to face Cell in the Cell Games.
Yukari Yakumo Can Beat Goku With Trick
She is able to manipulate boundaries boundaries of any thing which is believed as having a boundary however, it is actually a way that she is able to alter the space and time at will. Also, She invented the pocket dimension of Gensokyo by building the Great Hakurei Barrier. In addition, she utilizes the same power in combat to access and create another dimension.

This movie is a retelling of Goku’s first journey, and his battle against King Gurumes. He meets Bulma who tells him of the seven magic Dragon Balls. Soon, he encounters the Gurumes Army after they steal his Four-Star Dragon Ball. During their journey, Goku and Bulma rescue a girl named Pansy from Oolong. While pursuing Oolong, Goku is attacked by Yamcha and Puar. After the battle against Yamcha, Pansy tells the gang about King Gurumes and the Blood Rubies. They meet Master Roshi and Turtle as Pansy thinks the Turtle Hermit can help her village against Gurumes’ forces. On Roshi’s island, they are attacked by King Gurumes’ army and Goku witnesses Master Roshi performing a MAX Power Kamehameha to defeat Gurumes’ men. Afterwards Goku successfully pulls off of a Kamehameha of his own. Master Roshi turns down Pansy’s offer to help, suggesting that Goku is more than enough to get the job done.

Does Goku Even See His Kids
One of the biggest reasons that many think Goku is a bad father, is that he isn’t with them as much as people would hope. This is definitely a criticism that makes sense. It’s very apparent that , and he prioritizes training over time with his family.
Goku’s wife Chi-Chi tries to keep him home more and gets angry at him always taking off to fight enemies, and it is sad to see. For most of Gohan’s childhood, Goku was dead so he missed all of that time. Of course, that wasn’t necessarily his fault, but that he doesn’t prioritize bonding with his son after that doesn’t paint him in the best light. Interestmay 9 ‘officially’ Recognized As Goku Day

The Japan Anniversary Association has “officially” recognized May 9 as Goku Day. The numbers 5 and 9 can be read in Japanese as “Go” and “Ku” respectively. Film distributor had applied to the association to have the day recognized as Goku Day.

Nozawa spoke at the event about how she really hated voice acting work when she first started out, because she started out as a stage actress in a troupe. However, she passed various auditions to dub young boy roles in Western films and became popular, and so before she knew it she had started a career as a voice actress. She said that since then she’s always been playing young boy roles, but she really wants to play beautiful women roles.
Nozawa added that when she auditioned for the role of Goku, she heard that Akira Toriyama decided right away after hearing her voice that she was the one who would play Goku. Toriyama was also the one who chose Nozawa to play the roles of Goku’s sons Gohan and Goten. Nozawa said, “I’m truly glad that I’m a voice actress.”
Sunday is Mother’s Day in Japan, and so a staff member dressed as Goku surprised Nozawa at the stage event with a bouquet of 59 carnations, and presented them to Nozawa as the “Mother of Dragon Ball.” Nozawa responded by saying, “That’s sneaky of you. I’m gonna cry!” She added that to her, Goku does seem like her own child.

But Why Do We Like It So Much
The hero on whose shoulders lies the fate of the world, humanity’s last hope on countless occasions. Son Goku is the classic warrior who always triumphs at the end of the Greek tragedy, a powerful and pure being who is good by nature and will always fight for his fellow men. It may be a flat, almost Manichean description, but Toriyama embodied in Goku the absolute good, all the good that man can offer.
In addition to his good-natured character, the legendary Super Saiyan manages to convey his good humour and innocence in any situation without this being to the detriment of the epicity that some moments deserve. This archetypal main character is quite common in the world of manga and anime, just look at the cases of Pirate Luffy in One Piece or Naruto in the series of the same name.
With Son Goku, Toriyama launched a direct attack on the most sentimental and emotional side of people. In addition to having seen him grow through his adventures, which always creates a deeper bond, we are presented as a balanced and fun character who appeals to our inner child and who is not hard to love. With his magical cloud or flying on his own, on Earth or in Namek, blond or dark, Dragon Ball fans are still looking forward to seeing Goku around for a while.
