Light Yagami Goes Way Too Far
Initially, Light Yagami is definitely relatable. Who hasn’t been frustrated by the world’s lack of justice and the genuine unfairness of society? Who hasn’t thought that maybe, given the chance, they’d kill a despot for the good of mankind? Though Light is always a sour-faced egomaniac, at the start of Death Note, his brand of justice is understandable.
But before long, Light becomes a downright despicable serial killer. He receives exactly the demise he deserves, and any fans idolizing his poor behavior are forced to revise their opinions. Light shouldn’t feel relatable by the end, because he’s as scummy as a person can be.
