How To Watch The Anime Awards: Date Time And Categories Explained

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2021 are running again for its fifth year! The event can be seen worldwide by many adoring fans of anime and manga which shows their favourite characters, series and artists. We talk about the date, start time, categories and where to watch it!

Last years Crunchyroll Anime Awards was hosted by WWEs very own Austin Creed, from San Francisco. The awards were presented live on 15th February and featured special guests. This years selected judges can be seen here.

The event was just over 2 hours long and could be watched on YouTube. Along with special guests appearing on the show, Crunchyroll also held contests for fans. You can see last years winners, here!

Crunchyroll’s 2021 Anime Awards Winners Revealed

Crunchyroll has revealed their slate of winners for the fifth annual Anime Awards! One of the best parts of being an anime fan is looking back on an entire year of releases and figuring out which new series come out on top. While the ComicBook.com staff is able to do this amongst ourselves with the Golden Issues, the best part is getting to see what the rest of the fandom enjoyed over the year. For the fifth year in a row, Crunchyroll compiled votes over across multiple weeks from thousands of fans to find out which of the 2020 anime truly stood out.

With the premiere of the 2021 Anime Awards, Crunchyroll has revealed the full slate of winners for the year which include notable standouts such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Season 2, Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 and much more. Mob Psycho 100 Ii: Best Animation Best Opening Sequence

Mob Psycho 100 II is the second season of this fantastic series. Its story follows Kageyama Mob Shigeo as he navigates his way through middle school, trying to balance making friends and getting fit with his after school job as an exorcist at Spirits and Such, run by con man and self-proclaimed psychic Reigen Arataka.

Celebrated as one of the most innovative anime of our time, Mob Psycho 100 features experimental animation that pushes the boundaries of its genre. Mob took the first win of the night for the category of Best Animation and later won for its Opening Sequence, ” 99.9″ by MOB CHOIR feat. sajou no hana.

Crunchyroll Anime Awards : Jujutsu Kaisen Comes Out Tops

Crunchyroll recently held its Fifth Annual Anime Awards, however, this year was a little bit different. Due to the pandemic, the awards were held digitally, but that didnt stop fans from casting over 15 million global votes across 18 categories in celebration of the characters, series, and creators they love. This far surpasses the 11 million votes cast in 2020. And the ultimate winner of the night? The horror action series Jujutsu Kaisen.

So Im A Spider So What

The trailer for So Im a Spider, So What? continues the Isekai trend with a premise that follows a girl who wakes up one day as a spider in a terrible dungeon with no way to escape. Its based on a series of light novels of the same name, which eventually became a manga adaptation and, in 2018, was announced as the anime you see above.

The main cast that guides fans through the world of Jujutsu Kaisen is incredibly unique, yet still as relatable as the very best anime characters. Megumi’s animalistic shikigami is both adorable and deadly when mixed with his stoic personality and combat skills. Nobara’s hammer and nail fighting style combine to create one of the most unique projectile-based characters who have made it into anime in years. Last but not least, Gojo’s smirk and control of infinity are cool enough to make viewers truly baffled when trying to find Jujutsu Kaisen’s resident best boy.

Kaguya Sama: Love Is War: Best Couple Best Ending Sequence Best Comedy

Kaguya Shinomuta is the Vice President of the prestigious Shuchiin Academy, working alongside President Miyuki Shirogane. Both students are incredibly intelligent and successful, and everyone at their school thinks that they would make the perfect couple. Both, however, are in denial of their feelings for each other, and soon they start a game of war to see who will confess their feelings first. Kaguya Sama: Love Is War walked away with three category wins. Kaguya Shinomiya & Miyuki Shirogane won the title of Best Couple. Konomi Kohara’s song ” Chikatto Chika Chikaa” won the award for Best Ending Sequence. And the overall show won the Best Comedy category.

Jujutsu Kaisen Wins Big

It is no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen took home three awards this year as the anime series was beloved worldwide. The series, based on the manga by Gege Akutami, was nominated in 10 categories and secured awards in Best Antagonist for the extremely powerful cursed spirit Ryomen Sukuna, best ending sequence for the dance-happy LOST IN PARADISE by ALI feat. AKLO, and the biggest award of the night, Anime of the Year.

The critically acclaimed comedy adventure, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, was honoured as the Best Animation as well as receiving the award for Best Director. This is the Japanese Animator Masaaki Yuasas second win for Best Director after previously winning for his work on Devilman Crybaby in 2018.

Nominee: Dorohedoro Follows A Character With A Reptile Head

Kaimen, Panda, the entire cast of Beastars, and even Rak from Tower of God worked together in 2020 to break down the negative stereotypes that come from designing characters like animals in anime. Honestly, who could have imagined that so many of the best anime series in 2020 were either led or supported by anthropomorphic animals?

The fact that Kaimen has a reptilian’s face has little to do with Dorohedoro’s success as an anime in 2020, but few can deny just how cool this protagonist looks. While Kaimen explores the world he was written into, he takes advantage of his magical immunity to fight evil sorcerers like the one who transformed his normal human head into the head of a reptile.

Winner: Jujutsu Kaisen Has Impressed Fans So Far

As of 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen is the anime to beat. Thanks to some incredible animation, incredibly fast pacing, and a combination of the horror and battle anime genres, Jujutsu Kaisen has cemented itself into the larger anime culture. Fans are already comparing this new series to anime staples like Bleach and Naruto. This comparison alone speaks volumes when considering how seemingly untouchable both of those shows are in the eyes of anime fans.

Hopefully readers are keeping up with this incredible series in 2021, because the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc is yet another example of just how incredibly well this series handles classic anime tropes. If Jujutsu Kaisen can continue moving forward at this pace, it will surely join the ranks of Dragon Ball and Naruto after a few more years of steady content.

Crunchyroll recently announced the winners of the fifth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. This year, 15 million global votes were cast across 18 categories from fans celebrating their favorite characters, series, and creators, eclipsing the 11 million votes cast in 2020. The top three countries that voted this year were the United States, Brazil, and Mexico. Winners were announced during a virtual event hosted by Tim Lyu and Crunchyrolls Crunchyroll-Hime.

Crunchyroll also announced five new titles coming to the platform including Tokyo Revengers, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, Ive Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years, Joran the Princess of Snow and Blood, and Oddtaxi. The show will also be available to watch on Crunchyroll on-demand.

Horror action series Jujutsu Kaisen has been named Anime of the Year at Crunchyrolls fifth annual Anime Awards. Critically acclaimed Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! was honored as the best animation among many other stellar series taking home a slew of awards at the virtual ceremony held this past Friday evening.

This year, 15 million global votes were cast across 18 categories from fans saluting their favorite characters, series, and creators, far surpassing the 11 million votes cast in 2020. Winners were announced during a virtual event hosted by Tim Lyu and Crunchyrolls beloved princess, Crunchyroll-Hime. The show will continue to be available to watch on Crunchyroll on-demand.

Crunchyroll also announced five upcoming anime series coming to the platform: Tokyo Revengers, MAPPAs ZOMBIE LAND SAGA REVENGE, Ive Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years, JORAN THE PRINCESS OF SNOW AND BLOOD, and ODDTAXI.

The hugely popular anime platform and brand just surpassed four million subscribers and 100 million registered users only six months after breaking the three million subscriber mark.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba: Best Boy Best Fight Scene Best Anime Of The Year

Demon Slayer is currently one of the most popular shonen anime there is, so it is no wonder why the show won as many awards as it did. It tells the story of Tanjir Kamado, whose family is killed by demons. He then becomes a demon slayer to seek revenge and to try and turn his sister back into a human after the attack left her as a demon. Coming out on top, Demon Slayer took home the categories of Best Boy , Best Fight Scene , and the highly coveted Best Anime Of The Year.

The 2021 Crunchyroll Anime Awards honors Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Fruits Basket and more in their annual awards show.

Considering all that happened in 2020, it seems like a miracle that as many quality anime shows came out as they did. Its especially baffling how series continued to come out at the start of the pandemic when Japan and the world at large was still grappling with a rapidly changing work infrastructure. Its perhaps because of that struggle that its even more important this year to recognize those efforts than previous years and the fifth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards which was held on February 19th.

15 million votes were cast globally across 18 different categories to help determine this years winner alongside a panel of judges. MAPPA Studios Jujutsu Kaisen walked away with the vaunted Anime of the Year award. It also won the most awards of any other show in the ceremony and is one of our own favorite shows of last year as well. Other noteworthy winners include Kaguya-sama: Love is War? winning Best Comedy and Fruits Basket Season 2 winning Best Drama. Perhaps the most appropriate award of the night is Masaaki Yuasa winning Best Director for his work on Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! a show about being an anime director.

Every Crunchyroll Anime Awards Winner Including Anime Of The Year

My Hero Academia wins a third of the categories.

Every Crunchyroll Anime Awards winner has been announced. In a repeat of last year, My Hero Academia has once again gone home as the most awarded anime of the year, winning five of the 15 categories. Also like last year, though, the shonen series lost when it came to Anime of the Year. This year, the award goes to Devilman Crybaby.

A 2018 Netflix Original that premiered January 5, Devilman Crybaby is an anime adaptation of Go Nagai’s 1970s Devilman manga. Devilman has been adapted before, but Crybaby is the first to update the story with a modern day setting, and the anime includes new characters and an adjusted plot. Devilman Crybaby focuses on two best friends, Akira Fudo and Ryo Asuka. After discovering demons are real, Akira convinces Ryo to become possessed by one in order to give humanity a fighting chance against the supernatural threat. Now half human and half demon, Ryo calls himself the Devilman and protects the world as a violent superhero.
