Hunter X Hunter is originally a manga series written by mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi that was released in Shueishas Weekly Shnen Jump magazine in 1998. The next year following the enormous success of the manga, Hunter X Hunter was adapted into an anime series in 1999 by the Nippon TV network. The 1999 anime was on the air from 16 October 1999 for a total of 62 episodes only. Due to catching up with the slow-releasing manga, the anime came to an end on 31 March 2001.
Theres another adaption of the manga series, which is a more popular version. The newer version of Hunter X Hunter was on the air from 2 October 2011 to 24 September 2014. The anime spans a total count of 148 episodes which came to an end due to a lack of material. Apart from the main series, there are various other movies and OVAs of the Hunter universe that one can watch.
